I'm sure they'll put his latest tour out on DVD eventually, Fraeg.  Check it out when they do, if you didn't see it live.  It was fucking hilarious.

Note to self : never, ever, ever, EVER buy another Patriot product.  Two SSDs toast this year, average lifespan 4 months each.

Assault with a deadly tatoo

I would love to have been a fly on the wall for this exchange.  I think that situations like this are a large part of what makes me very reticent to consider getting a tattoo (aside from my age and profession).

I find myself listening to the "80's Pop" station on Pandora.  Having conflicting feelings!

You are realizing how catchy and not-as-bad-as-you-remember Kadjagoogoo was?

Internet searches are not specific enough for me on this question:
What's the overall risk factor for single-bypass surgery?  My dad's catheterization has turned into a bypass surgery due to 70% blockage.  Want to determine if I need to hop in the car immediately and go see him in the hospital.

What's the overall risk factor for single-bypass surgery?

Impossible to give you an answer without loads of data.  Surgical survival rates (short and long term) depend on a myriad of factors.

I will remind you that any invasive surgery can be fatal.  If you can be by his side with a car trip, I don't know why you would choose not to.

Sometimes you just need to make sure your ideas are not crazy by passing them by a few people.

Of course, passing them by this lot might not be the sanest thing to do.

Go visit him, use the fact that you are becoming enamored with the 80s channel as a secondary reason.

I do filter F13 responses through a mental filter, don't worry.  Nebu often makes the cut.

My mom says "don't come" but after the call I am thinking it's probably a good idea due to him being cut open.  And whatnot.

When dealing with the ticker it's always a good idea to be around if you can.  They've almost got bypass surgery perfected, but things can still go wrong.

They doing an actual bypass, rather than a stent?

If it's a bypass, you should visit. His risks would be based more on age (and bypass surgery is a lot less invasive than it used to be, odds are they won't crack his sternum or anything) and overall physical health, but it'd be under a general anesthetic and it's still rather complex surgery that means they're going to offline his heart and lungs and let a machine handle it for a bit.

*shrug*. Heart shit is serious. A stent's an outpatient procedure, but bypasses are not. Go visit. If nothing goes wrong, well, it's just a bit of lost time and some gas. If something does go wrong, you won't forgive yourself if you didn't.

Go with your gut.  I usually assume the worst and try to minimize regret.  I'd hate to have my father die and not be there.  That's exactly what happened in my case... and I regret it to this day.

My father had a pretty tame heart attack a few years back.  After discussing the labs with his cardiologist, I decided not to fly to his side.  He died that evening.  I wish I had chosen differently.

Hope that helps.

Yes, you also seem to listen to me, so your sanity really should be called into question.  That said, go see your dad.  There's no work that can't wait.

I flew to Florida just to be with my grandfather when he was diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer. He was hurting, but was in good enough shape to come home and live for another several month...but I don't regret going down to be with him in the least.

I won't give you advice because I'm quite certain I'm nowhere near making it through your filter, so I'll just leave it with that story of my grandfather.

So you need to make a "mix" with Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Vacation, and Cruel Summer and then play it the next time you are packing for a trip!

A business trip, without her, yes? awesome, for real

Yea, Bananarama wasn't that great.  I don't hate them, but I am not searching for vintage posters or anything.

Today I found out that Deborah Harry was born the same year as my dad.  So, uh....

Late to the party and all but - definitely go see your dad, Yegolev.  Taking the time to visit family is never wasted and even though it's probably fairly common these days, bypass surgery is still serious.  If he does have to get his chest cracked, you can have the grandchild buy grandpa a special pillow to hug whenever he coughs/sneezes, because according to my dad back when he had his triple by-pass done, that hurts.

80s music is awesome, but listening to an entire station of it would get too repetitious after a while, I'd think.

I was too soon on the Lotus Notes hate, because the client I'm at can't manage to get me an account setup, and without said Notes account, I'm treading water.  At least I have my work laptop now instead of a loaner and I'm almost done with all the company training that's required through January 2011.  I can't even request access to some of the applications I'll be using because the online request form goes through Notes.

It depends on how much variety and who is running it.  An XM station would last much longer than a Clear Channel station in my opinion.
