That's what I just said (to my coworker). We just had a fiber drop installed at the library. Nobody requested it, they were running it past our building and decided to come install it for us. It's not active (we can't afford it right now), but it's there. They wouldn't install a drop in my house. Bastards. Walking past an unused fiber connection is an evil thing. Can't wait to get it activated and load balance it with the 10/2 cable line. Until then...t1

I remember back in the day- I would almost always set the high score on Pacman where ever I found it. Then everyone discovered there were patterns, and people started putting up ridiculous scores after memorizing them. I thought memorizing patterns took all the fun out of it, so I started playing Galaga instead

I loved Gorf the most because every level seemed unique, at least at the time.

Thinking about it, I feel blessed the countless horrible muzak versions of Beethoven's für Elise I've had to endure during the last years haven't ruined the tune for me. I can still genuinely appreciate it when honestly performed.
edit: maybe it's because of the backstory. While there are some theories, nobody knows for certain who this Elise was Beethoven wrote this 200 year old tune for. And while there always has been a lot of speculation about the recipient of this bagatelle, everybody always assumed it was an ode to love from the ageing master to a pretty young lass. And while that's plausible, history is a cruel mistress. The man might have simple dedicated it to his cat.

Any Mel Brooks movie with Gene Wilder in it is better than any Mel Brooks movie without Gene Wilder in it.

I think my law holds, unless there's a Brooks/Wilder movie I'm not thinking of that's not as good as Spaceballs.
Spaceballs is a fine movie, mind, but it's no Blazing Saddles.

I like Spaceballs more. I think that's because there's a bit of Blazing Saddles which seems to drag on, and the Spaceball's cast is about perfect. That's the only exception I can think of though.

I was just playing this yesterday. Thumb arpeggiation exercise ftw. Other than that technique that's still kind of awkward for me at this stage, it's one of Bach's easiest pieces on guitar. Most of his stuff has counterpoint to drive you insane, I'll get halfway into a piece and he starts yet another voice movement and my fingers just decide to go on strike.

I think a better way to put it would be: Any Mel Brooks movie with Slim Pickens is mildly amusing. Without Slim, they all suck.

The Gene Wilder movies are >>>> the others. Spaceballs is a weak movie and the start of a real decline for Mr. Brooks imo.

Last night my sister called me and told me that her son's father had died. He hadn't seen his father since he was four but recently started becoming interested in his family background. I'm not sure that he was actually going to look his father up, but now there's no option to do that. Anyway, he died on 12th December and no one even bothered to call my nephew. Both his father's brother and his daughter know where my nephew is. In fact, he's friends with his cousin and saw her just a short time before his dad died. His dad, without going into detail, was not a nice person but you'd think someone would let my nephew know. How fucked up is this? He had to find out from the internet.

When I hear stories like that I always wonder if the rest of the family has a financial incentive for shutting out the kid or ex.

They might have all been too uncomfortable to call him up and say "hey, your dad just died", and/or figured somebody else would do it.
I had an uncle (by marriage) die last year. One of my other uncles called to tell me a couple of days after it happened, and I was floored because I'd known that he was in the hospital, but as far as I knew he was going to be getting out any day now. Apparently everyone else had known for a while that he wasn't long for this world but didn't want to be the one to tell me, or maybe even didn't want me to know for some reason, I'm not sure. I usually only saw him a couple of times a year, but having known the guy for most of my life I'd have liked to have had a chance to say goodbye to him while he was still alive. I'm still slightly pissed off about that. No help for it now, though.
People are weird.
