Well, I appreciate it anyway.  And if I wanted actual advice, I'd have put it somewhere other than Useless conversation.

Some good points made by all.

Whenever I begin to feel bored or insignificant, I remember that there was an eternity before I came into existence and there will be an eternity after I leave existence.  None of it will I ever know about or get the pleasure to experience.

No, it doesn't help, but it adds a certain sense of urgency to my usual animosity.

I know, unsolicited advice of internet strangers and whatnot. Maybe we care about you, ya bastard. That's all. And a lot of us have been through similar stuff, maybe more commiseration than advice.

Yes.  Commiseration.  One of my hobbies is complaining.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Buy three tiny white dogs and a mini trampoline and I guarantee that you will never be bored again.

We went to the Tut exhibit in Philadelphia today.  It was incredible.  It'll be in London soon-ish.  I recommend it to everyone.  It's probably the last time for ages, maybe forever, these pieces will be together at the same time.

PS  VDL's blog is teh awesome.

Stray and Iron, not to rain on your parade or somesuch, but I'd just like to point that your problems could be...

I dunno, a lot worse?

If your big problems in life are being a bit bored with life because even with success, none of it is surprising....or that you don't want to play games, and the girl you like doesn't want to play either (how exactly is that a problem?), and you get easily fed with with stupid people and their bullshit (join the club)?

From where I'm sitting, that sort of position looks quite enviable; you should be so lucky that those are your big problems.

Wow, "call the kettle black" much? All you ever did on irc was complain about how bored and trapped you were, while spurning any mere suggestion that you could just, I dunno, move out of your mom's house?

Further, I get that.  I totally get it.  Part of the reason I'm so fucked off is that I have literally NO REASON to be fucked off.  NONE.  My life is pretty much Perfect.  Yeah, sorry, but it is.

Even that bothers me, because I feel like some wanky whiner.  It's just depression or midlife crisis or summat.  Or maybe I'm just tired after the unbelievably busy fucking year I've had without any sort of break at all.

I'm aware that there are so many, many, many things that would, in my mothers words, 'Gie ye summat to cry aboot' but that's not really the point.  If it was, I Repeat; it wouldn't be in useless conversation...

Hey, has anyone thought that maybe Lantyssa is actually General Petraeus ?  That would explain the busy September.

I'm quoting Ironwood but addressing Straz.  This, plus quite a bit of the rest of Ironwood's post, is something that I understand very well and I submit that it is very real and quite probably needs nothing more than a sage nod from others who are in that position or were once there.  It's pretty easy to comment on something which you don't understand and which seems trite, but it's quite another to pass through such a "trite" situation and emerge from the other side about ten times wiser than you went in.

Fortunately Ironwood gets it, and I feel is better equipped to deal with his ennui than I was at the time, so comment all you want and know that you have yet to experience the thing you are talking about.

Nothing I have said will ring true to you until you are ten-to-fifteen years older.  I don't expect you to believe me.  I'm not the guy shaking his cane at the youth; this is a pointless activity.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Fuck, I wasn't talking about me. Also, wasn't ragging on anyone. Pretty sure I can understand what it feels like to be "going through the motions" or whathaveyou. When everything is fine, but nothing really matters. It's not That hard of an idea to understand.

But by Ironwood's own admission, that's why it's in here in the first place.

Also:

Wow, "call the kettle black" much? All you ever did on irc was complain about how bored and trapped you were, while spurning any mere suggestion that you could just, I dunno, move out of your mom's house?

Wow, seriously...wrong day for you to pull this shit. Are you venting? Because if I had a bit less self control, I would be right about now. Having my battery inexplicably die for no reason upon trying to leave work today, and having to leave the car in the lot overnight, just waiting to get ripped off or put on blocks or something....yeah.

Also, FFS I can do simple math, and it says it makes no sense to move out currently. Oh boy, VDL moved out when she was 12, and look at her, she turned out fine.

Don't. Fucking. Care. None of that applies In The Slightest. No need for you to bring that shit in here. None. I'm actually a bit disappointed. But I'm not sure what is worse...that you did it, or that for whatever reason I can't finagle past my own fucking firewall to respond in irc. (is irc even still alive?)

Ok, so I did vent a little bit. I'm a little sorry.

Hmm, I never said any girls I've known didn't want to "play games". I said they do. And that I'll cut them off the moment I see it. It's not really a problem though.

I'm at the point where I'm just tired of games. Don't want to play anymore -- Because I'm getting the feeling that the one person who's really worth my time is the one who won't play games.

Am I misunderstanding you, or did you mis-type? Either it's not a big deal, or....it's no big deal, and no wonder it didn't make sense when I read it. tongue

No, it's not a big deal. Cutting bullshit out of one's life is generally a good thing.  smiley

[EDIT] As for the bolded part, all I meant was that the cool people are the ones you don't have to make much of an effort with. I've met very few of them, and when I did, it was long ago when I was too distracted trying to please the wrong type of people.

I took my puppy to puppy class last night, he was pretty awesome. When the instructor used a treat to get him to do a small trick, he did the trick, took the treat... and promptly spit it back out at the instructor. I LOL'D IRL.
