I get home tomorrow night at midnight.

I have been outside for a total of twenty minutes in the last five days.

He's been in East Bumfuck, Washington. Two hours from a Starbucks, I didn't think that was even possible in the continental US.

I'm actually north of east bumfuck. There's probably a closer Starbucks in Canada than America where I'm at.

Oh man, out of boredom, I looked at a map of Washington.  North central, near the Canadian border, they have a town named Oroville also.  I guess its the name the settlers of the west coast used to designate a backwoods shithole area. awesome, for real

I had to leave the house yesterday to pay my taxes for the year. 1 inch of snow and a high of 8, the roads were empty. There were about 3 people in the whole county building including the Tax Collector, so no line, and free coffee. As long as my wife doen't run out of creamer, I may not have to go back out for another week. If I didn't have 6 ducks on the back deck again I wouldn't even need to go outside.

And in looking at these pictures I was surprised to find myself always coming back to No. 3, Stephen Dillane (Stannis Baratheon).

The others are ridiculously good looking of course but that image strikes a deeper chord in me, although I can't put a finger well enough on it to give the emotion a name.

I’ll be my usual 9pm asleep for Hawaiian new year self, I’m guessing.  I need to do New Years in Iceland sometime, it’s on the bucket list.  Or hang out with the Euro F13rs.  That way it hits in early afternoon by my personal clock.

After some MST3K watching, the wife an I were asleep by 11pm. People down the road set off fireworks from 11:45-11:50 which scared the cats and ducks , then nothing. I'm hoping those people died of exposure, it was all of -8 by midnight with a good wind.

Its delicious. A bit sticky so maybe might need some more moisture, or a different type of rice than what I was using, but otherwise it was fantastic.

Arborio is the only rice for risotto. If that's not cutting it, then a slow cooker is a bad option for prep.

Arborio isn't bad but Carnaroli is a better choice by far. In any case if you are just using regular long-grain rice, then yeah, you're going to have a bad time.

Here in Slovakia, Tesco sell it. Most supermarkets sell it if you look more carefully at the rice and pasta aisle.

Arborio has got to be one of the easiest things to find in any american supermarket. Hell, it's grown in a handful of states here.

If you have to go to a hipster section to find Arborio, you're not really part of society.
