Did they not have a yellow Veloster?
I'm currently happy with my 2011 G37 but things could change drastically when my son leaves for college.

They did, but it wasn't a Turbo. I think a 138hp car would drive me batty every time I stepped on the gas and nothing happened, and I like the grey - it looks like you put a clearcoat on primer.

How many HP with the turbo? Do you know what rpm the turbo kicks in? I had several turbo VW's and the turbo band was in an odd place ~2500 RPM. Took some adjustment.

Thanks guys.
Here's to an awkward week next week. This week, Thursday-Sunday I'm going away with one of my bosses to an awards ceremony/mini vacation (it's more than business, the spouses come along) that we won due to exceeding quote for the year. I'm going to be awarded stuff because I've exceeded quote by a decent margin two years in a row. Once we get back from this trip I have to hand in my two weeks notice.
Should be fun.

Sounds great for a car that also gets decent mileage. Very nice!

So very illustrative of this site's shift that there's this big controversy around Depression Quest running 'round and no thread here. Just started hearing about it on Reddit today, myself and I went, "Meh. 20-something Dramabomb and LOL Game Journalisim."

Not the most ridiculous car I've ever seen.
But fucking close.
It's like every car body design fad from the last 10 years crammed onto one body.

I'm not in tune as I used to be but here are some of the fad design elements:
1. body creases 2. sloped coupe-style roofline (not a real coupe cause of the extra door) 3. pinched C-pillar (with bonus hidden rear door handle) 4. hatchback with teeny rear window 5. panoramic sunroof 6. rear diffuser 7. large front grille

The size of the grill is... rap worthy. It's the most egregious design flaw on the car, there's no way the intake needs that much space, and it just makes the whole thing look uneven.
That said, I still dig the car. The grill is just wtflol.

When has Hyundai ever been innovative? They make money by selling cars that look like other cars but are cheaper.

THIS: Is still one of the prettiest cars ever made. Top to bottom front to back perfection. I wish they'd never retired the line. The Lexus SC series was just NOT the same thing. When has Hyundai ever been innovative? They make money by selling cars that look like other cars but are cheaper.
I didn't find anything "cheap" feeling about the Genesis. In fact, Hyundais are less cheap feeling than Subarus at this point.

Is that the Tiburon? I always thought they looked like a Mitsubishi copy.
I'm a german car fan. I guess I never got used to the feel of Japanese/Korean cars. Nothing feels quite like an Audi/VW/BMW to me. They connect to me, the driver, in a way I haven't found elsewhere.

The Tiburon was a mess. The early models looked like the early 00s and late 90s Eclipses. The Genesis is just gorgeous. If anything, it's closer to Acura lines, but with a little bit less refinement. The interiors was balls awesome. Subarus are plastic bullshit top to bottom in most models. The WRX - which I love - is an abomination on the inside, or at least was a few years back. 2009 (Model Year 2010) Genesis Coupe:

Don't get me wrong... I think value-wise, Hyundai are a great car for the price. Possibly the best. I just don't like the way they feel on the road and I can afford to spend more to get what I prefer.

At the end of the day, honestly, I just want Toyota to get their fucking shit back together. They've been making butt for Moms for 13 years now. Motherfuckers.

Given a choice among the oriental manufacturers, I prefer Nissan. They are shit for interiors, but they make up for it with thier engines, handling, and breaking. The old Sentra SRV was a great little car for the money.

You guys might laugh at me but I love our Kia Optima. It is really comfortable and it rides really solid. While definitely not a powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination it is peppy when you need it to be and has no trouble cruising comfortably on the highway or around town. It also get great gas mileage, when I drive it at least. I fear that my wife is a lead foot driver. It was also very cheap.

Yeah if Toyoto or Honda made cars that looked good I'd probably own one despite the fact I don't really need a car. I guess Toyota at least tried with the Scion brand but I don't think those are even sold in Canada. Edit: Oh wait it seems like Scion is in Canada now.

The old Sentra SRV was a great little car for the money. I had a choice and ended up with a 6-speed Civic SI. The manuals offered by Nissan in 2009 when I got my car were just universally awful feeling. Not as bad as Mazda. The Genesis was nice, but didn't have the feel I wanted when I was turning. The Civic SI is just the RSX Type-S (at least that year was) with a different shell. The entire drivetrain and engine was the exact same.

The Civic SI felt anemic and the gearing is all wrong. The creature comforts are way better in it than the competition though. I drove and preferred the VW GTI, Mazda 3 speed, and Ford Focus SVT to it. Now this is what I call sexy... very quick with the 6 speed manual as well.

I'm not quite enough of an asshole to drive a BMW. I hated the GTI and Mazda 3. SVT was OK though. The interior was butt.

Performance VTECs you have to drive "like you stole them" -- i.e. the power band is tuned for high RPMs. And a 4 cylinder Civic VTEC engine is not going to compare well to a BMW 1 series inline 6 engine which has lots more low-end torque or the 4 cylinder turbo-charged engines in the GTI or Mazadaspeed 3.
