My wife's knowledge of New Zealand seems to be mostly focused on actors that everyone thinks of as Australian but are really Kiwi's (or any other nationality for that matter), she can also tell the difference between Aussie and Kiwi accents.

It's easy to tell the difference.  NZ people sound like those guys from Flight of the Concords and Ozzies sound like the man from that stupid film about the big knife.  If you accidentally go to New Zealand on January 26 you won't hear anyone yell "Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie Oi Oi Oi"  and you're unlikely to bump into Thor or Wolverine.

I have a LG Spectrum 2 and it's a pile.  I don't think I've ever had to take a battery out of a phone this much.  Thankfully it is my work phone.

*sigh* Cancer sucks.

Pretty sure I mentioned here before, but the FiL has been fighting a particularly aggressive form of soft-cell sarcoma for just over a year now. Had muscle tissue in his leg removed (edges were clean), did radiation once the incision was healed, did more targeted radiation when it was found to have spread to his bones (which worked, tumors were reduced), started chemo to fight remaining tumors, all is good, right?

Nope. He had scans done after 4 cycles of chemo (2 more cycles scheduled) and found out that not only had the tumors not been further reduced, but a new tumor was present and growing in his hip. So the chemo did nothing but slow the spread of the disease, if that. His options were to A - stop treatment entirely, B - try a chemo cocktail that has been used for ovarian cancer, but has a 90% fatal heart attack rate, or C - try another chemo in pill form, but it was virtually the same as the chemo treatments he had been doing so far, which meant it probably wouldn't work.

He chose option A.

So now it's looking like he's declining fast and might not make it to the new year. The husband and I already have everything setup to go there for Christmas (that was planned from before this news came down) but the husband may fly out there the week right after Thanksgiving, if not over T'day itself. The bro-in-law is going to see about flying out there sometime in early December as well (just him, not dragging along the GF and his kids). While this sucks, at least the husband can talk to his dad and say good-bye. I didn't get that chance because my dad was injured and was in a coma at the end.

Oh, and war sucks big time. This call came about because the FiL was in Vietnam and exposed to Agent Orange there. Fuck war and fuck cancer.
