Yeah, which didn't surprise me at all -- I'd have been surprised if they hadn't. I'm fairly sure there's something enshrined in law about that --- dealing with strippers and strip clubs and how they're defined. At least originally. I'm pretty sure it's a pretty stock burlesque thing from way back in the day -- basically to end run public indecency laws and definition of 'topless'. It'd be a WAG as to which states would require it if you wanted to do such a show at regular clubs or venues (House of Blues in this case). My wife says the burlesque shows she's seen (at least outside of Vegas) all had pasties of one form or another. |

Neg. It's long term prospects are crystal. Governments will not stand for a currency with no controls that can be used to launder large sums and evade taxes. This has happened before in the US with Bearer Bonds. Then they got regulated and people said, "wait, why would I trust these when they're not backed. Fuck it" and the market tanked. Same will happen here, it's just a matter of when it happens.

Well, let's put it this way: When "Flip this House" hit it big on TV, was that a good time to invest in real estate? :) My personal rule of thumb is that once it's on TV as the "next big thing" that is the point where the smart money has already started selling. |

There was a little black mark on the ceiling in my room that looks like a bug, especially when I just wake up. Even though I know it's a mark because I've looked at it, touched it, scratched at it, sometimes I think I can see it move. When that happens I have to look really close at it and touch it just to make sure. Yesterday, I decided this was silly and covered it with paint. This morning I woke up startled and worried that I had covered up a bug with paint. Knowing things isn't always enough, I guess. I should have rubbed it out instead of painting over it, right? :(

You have only helped the bug by painting it the same color as the ceiling, now it is camoflauged. Now you have to look for white on white movement on the entire ceiling. Maybe your ceiling is made entirely of white bugs? You should move. |

The thing I hate about LA is how clean it is.
I don't mean empirically clean. It's large urban sprawl like other cities. But it's so goddamned bright and cheery and nothing looks older than maybe a decade and a half and even the out of shape people are pretty.
Every time I come here I long to head home to my dirty ass northeast with legitimate seasons I can complain about and nothing is clean for any longer than it takes to drive through the rain-sogged pothole outside the car wash.

I prefer AT+T Uverse to DirecTV but not by a whole lot. I prefer AT+T over Comcast by a margin as well as years-old principle. Saves money to bundle TV-phone-internet, at least.

The heating/baking element on my oven just failed.
There were pyrotechnics as the element appeared to actually burn -- threw off sparks and it was crazy. :) Turned it off, which thankfully worked. (A little googling says sometimes you have to throw the breaker for some reason). Turns out replacing the element is a cheap, simple job even an idiot like myself can do.
So, you know, exciting but not 1000 dollars for a new oven exciting.
