You get paid overtime?  ACK!

On the flip side, I don't have to fill out a stupid time card .. nor do I always work at least 40 hrs a week.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

He's so goofy looking I can never decide if he's handsome or fuck-ugly.  Regardless, I like most of his acting.  I don't think he fit into law and order though.

Heh double-edged sword that especially when half my team and one of our major clients is on the other coast. Early to office for east coast face time. Hidden working from home hours during west coast.  tongue

Unrelated: when the shit did it become acceptable to post 30s+ long animated GIFs? It's bad enough there's no audio and you're sitting there hoping for a punchline, but how about the lack of video controls and a crappy connection? How fast can this be stopped? Is there some metadata in the GIF that can be sussed out such that if it's longer than X frames the poster gets fined (or, ok, prevented from loading it to any site ever)?

As far as I can tell, many many GCs in Georgia. Ohhhhh, I see.

It's the web site, not the office PCs, but they want a couple new desktops anyway.  I didn't even know people still made desktop systems.

Hm.. I was wondering why they were using it instead of Expecite, but that's more landlord and facilities-based.   Still, iSqFt is pretty small (and local to me.) which is odd to me that Georgia GCs are using it instead of even Dodge plan room.

Maybe they like the sq. ft takeoffs and the idea that it's "all-in-one."  So many GCs never seem to understand that's akin to saying, "Yeah I've got a hammer" and holding up a tack hammer.  Sure it'll get the job done but it's not as useful as buying the right series of tools. *shrug*

Could be worse, though.  It could be Buzzsaw.

I don't remember why they switched off of Dodge; they used to get microfilm from Dodge so I suppose anything is an improvement.  I'm sure I could get an earful if I wanted, since my wife is the one that downloads and prints and estimates the plans.  The answer probably came down to some lesser-evil choice.

Headsets were made for a reason!

My last all-day meeting was actually productive, but then the client was there and we were discussing their project.   Can't say I've ever had more than an hour-long internal.  I feel bad for you.

80-120% of my job is meetings. I try to do all the meetings so the engineers don't have to go to very many. But, we are rolling out the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) which requires 2 full days of planning with all engineers and management every quarter (plus 1 full day of inspect & adapt). *Plus* your typical sprint planning and demo/retros every 2 weeks.

Obviously the schedule needs revision.  Biweekly might work.  Or is it semi-weekly?

I spent some time in productive multi-day OE sessions this year, but the thing is how you define productive.  There was perhaps one other person on my team that would have been suited to participate in the OE exercises, the rest were better off doing "real work" as it is called.  Viin is on target with his comments.  Sometimes you need to get all the bodies in a room, but often you can manage the information in a better way.  Depends on the situation.

There are many books on the subject, might be worth a read for some.  I skimmed one or two.

As it should be this time of year, when the Texas weather is actively trying to kill you.

As opposed to other months where it's passively trying to kill you.

I discovered that Shock Top makes a Honeycrisp Apple Wheat Beer.

And thus the nectar of the Gods was consumed, and all was right with the world.

Isn' that an Anheuser-Busch product? I refuse to believe they were even tangentially involved in anything palatable.

I generally don't consider wheat beers all that palatable anyway.  Also, putting apples in beer sounds a bit daft given that there is such a thing as hard cider.

My rating is purely based on actual experience with said product. It is the business.
