Laparoscope it was.
Thankfully that's a pretty routine surgery. I hope you're recovering well.

Why are you getting a colonoscopy if you're only in your late 20s or early 30s?

I got one in my 20s. Family has a history of various intestinal ailments and I am myself host to a couple.

Good reason to get one. Just curious. Good luck with it.

Glad it turned out well, Chimpy. My dad had that done a few years ago -- too many cases of pancreatis. (However it's spelled -- gallstone travels to pancreas, gets inflamed). Finally had it removed. Leaves the hospital, gets on a plan, suffers another case of pancreatitis, ends up back in hospital.
The surgeon said his gall bladder was, in fact, mostly gallstones (but too small to be resolved on an ultrasound. They removed it because they'd run out of other options for the attacks and decided it had to be that). Apparently one was "en route" to his pancreas when they operated. Which is pretty much my dad's luck. :)
Pain is a weird thing. I've always done best with pain I have a cause for -- if I can point to a bruise, or an impact, or something stupid I did, it's easier to deal with. But the worst has always been lower back pain. Once you muck around with the muscles in your lower back, moving at all is just..unpleasant.
Especially when you feel that initial jab that says "You just screwed up your lower back. Days of pain, bitch. It hasn't hit yet, but in less than a minute, every time you shift position or try to sit up, your back will SCREAM".

The gallbladder is one of those things that I think I'm going to have a very short leash on getting it removed if I have trouble with mine.

They suck the damn thing out, practically like it was vacuumed out of your body. I can't recall if that surgery was why my Dad lacks a belly button, or if it was another -- or if they did two procedures at once. It looks freaky when he goes swimming. We make jokes about divine heritage. Turns out there's actually plastic surgery to replace belly buttons, as apparently whatever it was he needed done is common enough. (Some sort of hernia? And then reinforcement of his abdominal wall? I don't recall). He just thought it was a waste of money. I saw my father-in-law's scar from his knee replacement -- he's on a cane now. 14 days from replacement to stumping around with a cane. I find that amazing as hell. The scar is relatively small (a friend who blew out his knee in junior high, almost 20 years ago, as two scars far longer and thicker. Medicine has advanced. Still noticeable as hell, though) --- maybe six inches? To replace a whole knee. I read enough sci-fi that it still sounds crude. Hope to god that if I ever knee a replacement, they'll just inject some tiny machines to rebuild it. :)

My son found a stray dog. Purebread daschsund (or a mini). Clean and new collar, no tags. Obviously from somewhere in the neighborhood. So he brings it home. Okay, he's nice. It's after hours for the local pound (which is where 98% of dog owners who lost a dog call first). It was, of course, late Friday.
So now I have the loudest, yappiest fucking dog in existance outside my back door. My beagle is going apeshit in response. The owner of this fucking dog cannot put up posters FAST ENOUGH. I even dared Craigslist to post about it in lost and found.
It's driving me crazy.

Looks like one more night in the hospital for me.
But I am now able to eat non liquid food for the first time in five days. Which also has led to quite possibly the oddest situation human interaction wise: normally when a man says to a woman not related to him "I farted" she will not usually grin and say "that's awesome keep em coming!".
Nurses are fucking weird.

So I'm into hour 9 of this install. I don't know how you admins who need to work long hours and weekends do it. I'm also 3 hours into waiting for tech support's 'next available rep' to call me back. What could go wrong deploying to untested versions of muliple OSs? I just want to shoot zombies in the New England woods, dernit.

Did they give you the "pre-release" version of PCRes or have they finally really released 4.2?
(we had to install a prerelease build because a bug cropped up on us that they said they fixed 4 patches previously).

Have you had it checked for a microchip yet? Our vet is open Saturdays and can do the scanning, you might have something similar available. Well maybe not by now.

It's maybe not good for your body or soul, but I frame it as "good honest work" like if I was plowing for sixteen hours. Only with my brain.

I watched Dazed and Confused at a drive-in movie at Top Notch a few months ago. It was pretty cool to watch a movie at the place where it was filmed.

I was gonna Monday -- our pound has the facilities for it, and is the first place I call when my dogs get loose (they're also good about calling you back when they pick up a dog that matches yours. In fact, last time I had a stray in my backyard, they recognized the dog from the description and dropped it off at the owners on the way back. Charged them thirty bucks, of course. :)) However, the dog decided to release itself on it's own recognizance from my backyard yesterday morning. I was okay with this.

4.1.3, but PCR isn't the problem. LPT:One (4.7.2) decided that it's only going to work on Windows and 10.7, so half my computers (10.5.8 and 10.6 intel iMacs) won't print. It's an interesting one, the printers show up but it starts the queue in the printer window rather than sending it over to LPTOne, it never engages the popup. The queue says the job is on hold (awaiting authentication), but when I hit resume and authenticate it won't release it (and it needs to trigger LPTOne anyway). I'm hoping to have some revelation today, because people are going to about a system where half the computers can't print and they can't pick which one they get. Oh, and one computer decided I'm not going to be able to disable an old version of SteadyState, probably related to a CMOS failure a couple weeks ago. That one goes on the workbench. 13 hours yesterday, and just digging in for the day today. Good times. Today is mostly re-enabling security and troubleshooting the LPT:One thing. My blessed saint of a lady greeted me with a cold Lake Placid Hef and the news that the Marcy beer shop expanded its Hef shelfspace. So it balanced out pretty well imo. I also bought myself a shiny blue QL3 rifle to shoot zombies in the NE woods. Bah-blam!

Shh, I'm trying to distract him I called the annoying initial contact dude who has long passed me off to 'support' (closed weekends) and got him in church. Managed to talk him into letting me get back to him in a few hours, we'll see if he actually picks up. This is why I don't answer my cell on weekends. He's weak on mac support, so I doubt it will do any good, but I owe him a bit of annoyance

I guess that could be good or bad, depending upon how you're feeling and what your internal thermostat is like. Glad to hear you're feeling okay. Surgery sucks, even mid level surgeries.

I can't believe it didn't get more word of mouth when it came out. I didn't discover it until 5 years ago or so, and I love it. Caught it yesterday too, as a matter of fact.

Just got the word that I am being sent to the Sister Company to do a two day training presentation. In Scottsdale, Arizona. In the middle of July. Last time I was there, I'm pretty sure it was October, and I almost melted. Being that this will be my first live training presentation given to this company, and that my boss's, boss's, boss will be arranging it, I will probably be hitting you folks up on techniques to make six hours worth of Power Point presentations in to something other than mind numbingly dull.
