For what purpose? I use giffgaff and I've always been happy with them.

Going to Ireland and probably Scotland for two weeks in May. I have an iPhone 4s so I was going to look into getting a prepaid SIM for the trip. I just bought a junk prepaid phone when I went to Australia several years ago and it really came in handy.

Local calls/text/data?
Yeah pretty much. I don't foresee making a ton of calls but would like to be able to look things up and such.

Definitely go with giffgaff then I think! Also, if you think you're really going to spend a lot of time surfing the web and texting, you can get packages, e.g. £10 = 250 mins, unlt. texts, unlt. internet.
Only disadvantage is you have to order it before hand.

Looks like Giffgaff doesn't have Republic of Ireland access. Looks like a good deal if I was just going to the UK though.
Flight is to Dublin, going to spend most of the time in Ireland and probably fly to Edinburgh or Glasgow and do some plunking around for a few days before back to Dublin and more Ireland before homeward trip.

Fucking Comcast. They refuse to offer HBO Go, so I have to switch to Dish.

This year I outdid myself and managed to get into trouble for buying a card and flowers. Sure, fuck Valentine's Day and so on, but I think the core issue lies elsewhere.
That said, I admit I am as romantic as a moray eel.

Let me guess.. you agreed not to get anything, then did so you're in trouble because she feels bad for not getting you something?
Cuz if that's not it.. wow, sorry.

Doing some research about and throwing around the citation to the Fair Credit Reporting Act will probably be worth your while.
Finally managed to get someone on the phone today, and they were surprisingly cool about it. Opened up the dispute, are checking their records, and "will let me know in 7 to 10 business days." I've already disputed it with the credit agencies, I just figure if I can get the bank to file the paperwork they were supposed to, it can get taken care of from both angles. Especially since the credit agency says it will take 30-45 business days on their end before I hear anything. Once it gets taken care of and the ex-wife gets herself a new car, I'll only have student loan debt. I feel slightly underwhelmed by that.

The only providers that cover both the UK and the RoI are 3, Vodafone and O2. You're still going to be roaming however in the country where you didn't buy the SIM even if you are on one of those networks.

That has the smell of "there's more to this story" all over it. Sounds like he summed it up with the "about as romantic as a moray eel" comment.

My Valentines day consisted of a huge set of pink roses, a large bottle of sparkling Moscato, a fresh baked pound cake, and a whole lot of sitting on the couch playing the new Zelda with the Girl and cats. She also made dinner.

Strangely, the wife decided to make V.Day about us and being a family and being happy without involving all the shite that gives me aggro.
It was really nice.

There is nothing sadder than the gym in the evening on valentines's day.
Though, there were a surprising number of women there, many attractive, and hey you can get on any machine you like because the place is half empty.

Looks like 3 has a unlimited data with no extra charge data roaming (and relatively cheap voice roaming) on a prepaid micro sim for like 35 Euros.

My youngest sister is pregnant and now I feel hugely old. Family legacy saved. Now you don't have to feel the pressure from the parents! \o/ I think our Valentine's Day plan is, play more SWTOR.
So romantic. It's probably more romantic what what the wife and I will do. I wasn't being sarcastic, for once. I did deadpan it so it read like it, because I love nuance in a textual context.

It's what we do, pretty much. Many years ago, we'd try to go out but we found out that restaurants on V Day actually blow massive chunks, even the good ones.

You may be onto something. I ran into the executive chef/owner of our favorite restaurant yesterday....at the fish market. Pretty sure he was shopping for personal stuff, though I didn't ask. We got talking about trout fishing.

No, I got that one out of the way years ago. She will never again say to not get her anything. I swear after 13 years she should know better. There is more to it, obviously, but I'm not sure I have grasped all of it. One part is how she sent me to the grocery store on the 13th and I bought the wrong sort of chicken, and got lightly salted peanuts instead of unsalted (everyone knows you don't use salted peanuts in recipes!). I then went out to get the correct chicken and to look for unsalted peanuts on the challenge of not being able to do it in under thirty minutes. Which was a silly challenge on her part, because I went to two grocery stores before finding the nuts and returning victorious. Let's see who can spot the problem here.
