Sorry to hear that dude.

Would it help if I told you this was my first day back after Christmas and even though I have a job, it sucks more than I can actually type and I'd rather be gobbling shit directly out a pigs asshole than work there ?

Would it ?

Nope. But I bet you can recreate that situation metaphorically by sending your next two paychecks to me, and then figuring out having a job is better than not having a job AND getting paid for doing shit is a pretty sweet deal.

Still need a job. Shit sucks.

We should start a company that will focus on web-based chart systems for dental offices.  I don't think that there's much out there that's worth a shit.

Of course, such a venture would require capital.......

Sending my next two paychecks to you wouldn't even cover the fucking postage.  Hang in there, you'll get something.

How well can you code, how are your php skills?  Show up to a few of the austin php and/or expression engine meetups.  Those guys all seem to be rolling in more business than they can handle.  If you want company I'll even join/drive your ass there, unfortunately they alternate between a meeting room and bar environment and as far as I know both groups are on the meeting room cycle.  EE alternates every other month and php alternates every other week or something.

Then again there is having a job and having a job that helps your career, not sure where your plans fit in and how desperate you are yet.

You should go to Grad school, Schild.  You get a stipend, get to sleep with hot coeds, and can defer your student loans indefinitely.  Come to think of it, I should go back and get another PhD.

I read that as Sigma Chi for some reason, and thought "no way" since it was my dad's party frat in college.

Question for all y'all that dwell in countries other than the US. Bonus points if English isn't the primary language there.

I'm surprised that made a comeback. I first heard that in 1976 for a couple of years, but my spouse never heard it before our kids started saying it. But then, he never heard the term "shine it on" either (also from the 70s). Maybe those things were just west coast things?

On a similar note, what the hell is up with the statement "Do what?".  I was talking to a student the other day and they didn't hear part of what I was saying.  Rather than saying "pardon me" or "could you repeat that?", they said "Do what?".

I'm lost in a sea of ignorance.

Also could be a reference to ATHF, the episode where they take out Meatwad's brain. I started hearing it after then. "Do what now?" or "Do what?"

I often can say "Do what now?" and since both ATHF and I are from the South, I expect it is a cultural thing.

My wife inexplicably says "Commere-a-minit".  I haven't figured out if it's something she said before the Simpsons episode featuring the phrase.

I heard that phrase from an elderly aunt from Florida in the mid 1970's, so I think it's a cultural thing.

People vex me.

Some of you may or may not have seen the "inappropriate senior picture" photo on Facebook.   After seeing the 30th or 40th post implying the girl was some form of prostitute from people I questioned the ones on my sister's page.  The girl is wearing more clothing than some of the swim team pics that were within my own year book.  She's also wearing a quite modest skirt that wouldn't have been questioned if not for the belly shirt.  That may - or may not - be inappropriate, but the level of response certainly was.

I questionined their presentation bias (approaching the picture after already being told it was inappropriate) and explained that it wasn't as bad as they made it out and asked exactly what was so offensive about it.   I was told I was overreacting and everyone had a right to their opinion and I should just relax.

awesome, for real Ohhhhh, I see.

She already has a porn name all ready to go! "Sydney Spies"

That said, facebook is where the kooks seem to shine. I was appalled to discover how many of my acquaintances hate the gays, the immigrants, the (insert color), the (insert religion), etc. Death to Zealots!

Austin is more of a must eat town.

You'd think that, but the "Live Music Capital of the World" doesn't mean good music. It's the Amateur Live Music Capital of the World. The music here is mostly total shit. Other than festivals.

qft, mostly local house bands but aside from the festivals there are the occasional golden opportunities to see a big act in a smallish venue.  Unfortunately that is by no means a nightly occurrence and even if it was I couldn't afford it that frequently.

Seriously so true it bears repeating.  Unless you've got a friend in the band or actually know some of the songs\like the group, most live music in Austin was just... bleh.  I could get the same out in West Texas, just only at one-two bars on Fridays\Saturdays vs. every night of the week at 30 different bars.  Of course I experienced this in 2001 so I can only imagine it having gotten worse since then.

No one said it was the Good Music Capital. why so serious?

Out of all the local music I've seen there has been maybe three bands that I've made a point to remember and follow. Best shows I've seen have been Ratatat at Stubb's and The Sword in the Waterloo Records parking lot, although I knew both bands going in beforehand.

We talked about the Coke Freestyle machines somewhere a while back and I mentioned I'm using them on a project.   My projects aren't quite ready to open yet, but the flagship SNS using them in NYC that we designed is going to open Thursday.   Thought I'd share.  The Freestyle machine is the soda machine you see in the lone photo.

Yeah I figure they'll be popping-up all over.  Coke is pushing them for many reasons.  I heard of them being in only one place locally and it's on the west side of the City - which may as well be noman's land here because fuck trying to navigate that maze of shoulderless roads, 6-way intersections and stoplights mixed with stop signs.

I heard the Coke from them 'tastes off' though.  Something about how the micropour powder doesn't taste anywhere near the same as traditional syrup.

Funny, I was just right outside that Steak N Shake a couple weeks ago. I assume it was built with no public restroom?
