We're going out because our plans were blown to hell when my new stove went from Nov 18 delivery to Dec 10. Dammit. The range I have now is the worst I've ever seen and I've been stuck with it for 4 Thanksgivings now. We're moving from this:

To this:

I find it funny the only place I can find a pic of the stove that came with my house is 'ezcreditwarehouse'  Ohhhhh, I see.

I'm jealous. We just bought a new house, and it has an electric stove. One day we will upgrade it...

And... LG makes stoves? What's next, LG breakfast cereals?

And it's highly rated by consumer reports, with a solid feature set that ticks all my boxes. I was originally going with a kenmore elite, but eh. I'm not brand loyal in the least.

And don't be to jealous yet. I should be pretty pleased once it's in and working, but it's going to be a long couple of weeks. I thought moving a gas line over two feet in the attic crawlspace was going to be easy, but the first bid came in at $950...and that's with the wall full demo'd so they have full access to the cavity it will run in. It's seriously an hour job and this asshole was telling me 4-6 minimum with two guys. It's normally a great plumbing outfit, I forgot to get the guy's name so I could mention the experience to his boss. He also recommended it best that I move the stove to where my dishwasher is (gas line behind that wall) and put the dishwasher where the stove is. I asked him where he was going to run the plumbing, since the kitchen is slab foundation. Moron.

I did a somewhat small dinner since it was just my roommate and me but it turned out well. Ribs were amazing even though I was too lazy to fire up the grill.

I was all set to feel sorry for you until you posted this.  (I just learned how to make ribs this way after trying many other methods - this is the only way to go. Yummy.)

I cooked a traditional dinner, brined a fresh little turkey for the first time, and will brine them from now on; I'm sold on brining.  We had a small group (just the immediate family and a girlfriend of eldest son) but it was quite pleasant.  I need to get out of bed and move around.  Slight wine hangover has made me lazy.

A lovely thanksgiving day, a relaxed start to Black Friday, followed by a 14 hour overnight drive home. Now I'm too keyed up on coffee and adrenaline to sleep.

So, a front just came through.  It should be in the 50s max tomorrow when I hit Ren Faire.  Nice to be able to garb up and not melt in the usual Houston heat.

Will eat and drink lots for everyone.  Good thing is the place is so large, I should work off half of it by the time I leave.   awesome, for real

In retrospect, the only problem with cold Ren Faire day is fewer boobies.

I also keep forgetting to buy an extra beer and turkey leg for the trip out of the parking lot.   why so serious?

I wish it was that cold at the Dickens Fair.  I want to dress more appropriately for the "winter in London" theme, but scarves and overcoats just don't work at 70 degrees.

Har!

I haven't seen any spectacular deals, which disappoints me.  I did nab the infa-red goggles on Woot, though.  $30 to see in the dark? Fuck yes!

I guess I haven't really been looking for deals, however I do have to figure out something for my wife for Christas.  She's so fucking hard to buy things for.

Decent option is always jewelry - and if you're feeling a bit lazy - there's a spend 100 for $200 credit on livingsocial today for Blue Nile.

Other options - gift card to be used at a local spa, chocolates from a local chocolatier, etc, etc

Thanks for the suggestions, but I have overplayed the jewelry option.  She's getting to where she can't wear all the stuff that I've gotten her.  And she's got a nice spa gift card from her birthday that she hasn't been able to use yet.  Also, she's not the typical female when it comes to tastes in clothes/jewelry, so that makes it a difficult buy.

I can't remember a Sterling Faire that wasn't in the high 80s - high 90s (this year was melting around mid 90s with high humidity). I love to dress up and would enjoy putting some garb together...but I hate sweating and only really wear clothes in the winter. Layers of heavy fabric just isn't happening in high summer.

I gave her Seinfeld season 1/2 about 6 or 7 years ago.  That was a huge flop.  They're still in the shrink wrap.  I guess that makes them good for collecting though.

Yeah, I was really throwing DVDs or Clothes out as what I fall back on.  Each woman's going to have different fall-back gifts for family purposes.
