I'm completely confused. Is "turning off my hoover at the wall" some sort of code?
Elena has mastered Electrical sockets. With all the fun that entails. Today, the alarm clock. I mastered them by sticking a knife in one and learning the hard way how they worked.

I couldn't do it. When I first got a kitten, I used to stress over forgetting to put the toilet lid down in case he fell in and drowned. Having to worry about a child sticking her finger in an electrical socket would instantly kill me.

I never felt compelled to electrocute myself as a child, luckily. Although my little brother gave himself a good jolt one time by trying to hang a flyswatter off the back of a night light. The spark left an impressive scorch mark on the wall too.

I did. Unfortunately I kept doing it over the years. Probably why I work with it for a living now...

I still remember the feeling, it was my left arm. I'm not sure how old I was at the time but I can still see the socket quite clearly.

I don't remember the rest of the day after I stuck the fork in the wall socket as a kid. But I'm sure it was filled with the smell of singed hair and the sound of tears.

http://teamteamwork.bandcamp.com/album/vinyl-fantasy-7Hated Ocarina of Rhyme (probably because the OST was as memorable as Mappyland - which is to say it wasn't) but Vinyl Fantasy VII is freaking incredible. Edit: Almost done, whole thing is amazing, the first track is just a fucking masterpiece. So at least listen to that. Edit 2: Part of me is pretty happy One-Winged Angel is the worst remix. Goddamn that overrated track.

What kind? I got a couple of MAC knives as a gift (8 " and a paring knife), but I'd like to pick up a few more utility blades.

I stopped using fabric softener years ago for the most part and use those funny dryer balls. My laundry is softer and fluffier than it ever was with the stuff. Now I'm thinking of trying those laundry balls full of pebbles or whatever. Has anyone tried them? I'd love to completely stop poisoning my skin if at all possible. These thingies.

I was thinking about using those, but don't they make a ton of noise in your dryer?

Spent at least 2 hours of effort last night on a changing table for the baern to be. I've built a lot of Ikea stuff in my day, but this was the hardest and the most frustrating. There was physically *no* way to turn any of the screws with that tiny allen key they give you. Vice grips wouldn't have helped either. It's like they drilled two holes on top of each other, but with the second larger one only 1/3 the way down. Finally drove out to a Loews for an allen key drill bit. But even my drill wasn't strong enough. Finally had to counter sink the holes to make them larger all the way. And still a snug fit!

Yes. A very clear picture! Odd.
I still remember vividly every single time I've zapped myself... the light socket, the pool pump, the failed 40kV dump circuit, the active 480V line, etc. Each one a very memorable experience, and only happened once each. Tempting fate any more would be foolhardy.

I realized that I remember being shocked by that exposed copper in the circular saw plug pretty damn clearly. My sudden conclusion is that electrocution probably does not kill children very often. Then again, the dead ones don't post on F13.

We looked at Ikea baby furniture but ultimately decided it was too shaky for our peace of mind. Ended up buying the Emily line by DaVinci. Who'da thought we'd end up using the pack 'n play for 90% of his ripe changes (and just change hi. On our bed the rest of the time)?

Yeah two big shocks here, and each I remember clearly. Both were the result of ill-advised attempts at fixing electrical goods before the age of 12. First, I discovered that you should always unplug before changing a fuse: I had the back of the plug off and it was live. That hurled me clear across the room and gave me the first headache I can remember. The second was potentially more serious, and was from the copper loom on the motor of a washing machine. I had entry and exit burns and some threadwork on the veins of my right hand and because my hand was a long way into an enclosed space, when it clenched solid I was trapped. Only a big push by my legs (dunno if it was voluntary or the electricity that did that) got me away.

I've used dryer balls for years and I haven't noticed any unusual fading. I have noticed a vast improvement over the way the clothes look and feel, though. Of course, even if there was some fading, when I weigh harsh chemicals and perfumes on my skin against some fading on my clothes, my skin will win every time. Really fine clothing usually gets sent out for cleaning, not that we have many. We're extremely casual. I pretty much dislike fancy stuff.

I'd be interested in hearing how they work out after a while. I always love new knives, but there are very few I still enjoy after a few months. I'm also surprised at just how much I enjoy a large chopping blade. I think I'm a caveman when it comes to my knife skills.

Will do. I still need to buy a new chopping block. I've got these small ones and I need a large working surface, but the woman doesn't want me to get one. I don't understand her resistance. Oh well. I'll buy it and she'll have to deal with it!

Just got back from a day of interviews. Not extremely technically challenging (which was surprising) but stressful all the same.
It is, literally, my dream job.
