Wearing a particulate filter mask will help as well, but most people are too vain to wear one.

I don't think you're vain Signe... that was more of a general comment.

Switching to a vaporizer will be easier on your lungs, is what I hear. Or you could just eat your ganja - I used to know an asthmatic stoner who never smoked it.

Vaporizers come recommended.  As for indoor air quality, it's much worse than outdoor air most of the time.  A cheap suggestion is houseplants, specifically spider plants since I believe they remove formaldehyde in addition to other toxins from the air.  Of course, you'll have to make sure your cats don't eat them.

Ooh, I did a paper on houseplants and indoor air quality in college chem. Spider plants are safe for cats to eat, but Dieffenbachia (another great air purifier) is very poisonous. Here is NASA's list of plants that promote indoor air quality:

Quote

        * English Ivy (Hedera helix)
        * Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum)
        * Golden pothos or Devil's ivy (Scindapsus aures or Epipremnum aureum)
        * Peace lily (Spathiphyllum 'Mauna Loa')
        * Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema modestum)
        * Bamboo palm or reed palm (Chamaedorea sefritzii)
        * Snake plant or mother-in-law's tongue (Sansevieria trifasciata 'Laurentii')
        * Heartleaf philodendron (Philodendron oxycardium, syn. Philodendron cordatum)
        * Selloum philodendron (Philodendron bipinnatifidum, syn. Philodendron selloum)
        * Elephant ear philodendron (Philodendron domesticum)
        * Red-edged dracaena (Dracaena marginata)
        * Cornstalk dracaena (Dracaena fragans 'Massangeana')
        * Janet Craig dracaena (Dracaena deremensis 'Janet Craig')
        * Warneck dracaena (Dracaena deremensis 'Warneckii')
        * Weeping Fig (Ficus benjamina)
        * Gerbera Daisy or Barberton daisy (Gerbera jamesonii)
        * Pot Mum or Florist's Chrysanthemum (Chrysantheium morifolium)
        * Rubber Plant (Ficus elastica)

I think they are using the term "filter" liberally.  This is a list of plants that produce little to no CO2 and will absorb some harmful organics.  They do little to nothing to reduce allergens.

Indoor plants hate me.  My mother and sister were both born with very, very green thumbs but I was born with dead black ones - although I'm fine with outdoor plants.  I've killed every indoor plant I've ever owned, or given them to my sister to save just in time.  And, yes, I forget to water/feed/talk to them.  If you're inanimate and live with me, you get dusted and cleaned and then mostly ignored.  If you fall into a coma, you don't want me as your caregiver.  Srsly.  I'm disappointing everyone here!  I'm sorry!   ACK!

I do love the mask, though.  I'd wear that out.

You are not disappointing me, I was just trying to give a cheap suggestion.  I'm sure you have lots of expensive suggestions already, like fancy filters in your HVAC and a UV light to kill airborne shit.

Woke up this morning with my left ear hurting and my throat almost swollen shut, went to Doctor, not strep, declined bloodtest for some sweet sweet antibiotics.  Had to actually tell the doctor to give me viscous lidocane so I could eat, he was all "oh, it hurts, eh?"

Viscous lidocane is vile by the way, and apparently not working too well.  I should have bugged him for pills.

2 cents and I do not play a Doctor on TV, but might be Mono so watch out for an itchy rash if the Doc prescribed you amoxicillin without doing any blood tests.

Why would you take antibiotics if you have no idea what's causing the problem?

Because paying $40 for the blood test, waiting for the results, all so they can tell me its bacterial and to take antibiotics seemed dumb. I didn't tell the doctor "fuck that just gimme the antibiotics" He basically said "well, we can take a bloodtest if you want, but you should probably take antibiotics anyways"

I'm already starting to feel a little better, although my call of "hey, this lidocane isn't really working, can I please have some real drugs" is going unanswered.

Gargle soluble aspirin then use a localised antiseptic spray. And remember that, having started a course of antibiotics, none of us will thabk you for stopping early and increasing the resistance of something else that happened to be kicking around in your system.

My fiancee loves air conditioning (but is always too cold?), I hate it on all but the couple 85+ days. I'd rather open the windows and get a nice breeze going with an updraft fan, my house is set really well for cross-breezes. I don't use AC in the truck except when she's riding along undecided She always had AC on in her car in the summer and her house has central air.

Ill take an open window over AC every time. For some reason AC's reek of something horrible. Has a chemicaly tang to it that I despise. Course it does not break 90 here more than a handful of days annually so i can get away with it.

It is 110 here with the heat index and two people have already died today from the heat (though I'm sure they died of something else, the heat just pushed them off the cliff)>

I'm currently praying to my AC.  It deserves it.

Southwest Florida requires an AC. I have seen it rain from people's ceilings  when they werent using their ac during the summer.
