When stopped while going uphill, when a person is coming up behind me, I like to ease off my brakes for just a split-second, so that I roll back about an inch...just to let the potential idiot behind me know that I'm driving stick, and it's probably a bad idea to come right up on my bumper.
Also, ever have anyone try to tailgate you in the snow? Fucking retards, I'm not going to speed in this dumping, I'm in a Mustang. 'tards

Driving a stick in San Francisco pretty much requires that you be able to start on a hill without significant backsliding. Especially if you want to be able to take advantage of the bumper-to-bumper street parking in the posh hilly neighborhoods.
Luckily we don't ever have to contend with icy roads. Although I did learn the hard way as a new driver that wet cable car tracks are just as bad. Had to back down half a block of California Street because I just couldn't get enough traction to start moving forward.

I do it more as a reflex rather than an inability to get the car going without backroll...but it's useful for when it's raining and such; car has a terrible habit of spinning tires slightly in the wet or when I first start out in the morning and the tires are still cold.

I'm gonna guess - and this is a long shot - videogames.
I use Gamespot 9 times out of 10. WIth sites like Amazon and Gamestop, you have to know what you're looking for.

Thanks Schild, it's not exactly what I'm looking for, but much better than what I was using before.

SO....Gambling in PA is lame....no table games.
We make a little side trip on the way to a ski area to Mount Airy Casino and Resort. Nice set-up, free parking, clean bathrooms. We get onto the gaming floor....
Slots. Lots of slots. We knew that they had started doing slot parlors and shit in PA, but we thought, "Come on, they have GOT to have some craps and stuff Somewhere."
Nope! No real table games of any kind. Apparently, they're not yet licensed in PA. The closest we found was a sort of Blackjack table that was entirely electronic - including the dealers, who oddly enough were all represented by busty women in cocktail dresses. No way I would ever trust a video blackjack or poker table.
Oh well, at least that delayed us enough so that by the time we got to our mountain of choice, we only had to wait about a half hour for cheapass evening lift tickets.

I'd almost rather have video blackjack than the mandatory $.50 ante for table games at the Indian casinos in Oklahoma. Sure, if you're betting big it doesn't hurt your odds all that much, but when you're only throwing down $2 a hand, that $.50 ante eats up any and all winnings real fucking quick.
Stay away from Indian Casinos.

In related news, Liptons is not and never has been tea. Claims to the contrary will not be entertained. It appears that the only decent tea in America is at the bottom of Boston harbour.

Promoting my employer is my job. Also I just reprimanded Italy for drinking one of our products. 2009 is going to be a great year.

It's true. Lipton makes terrible tea. Usually I can find my PG Tips at Wegman's but this time they were out so I had to settle for Twinings which is okay. I like my PG Tips!

Ugh, PG Tips... I suppose if it's a choice between that and Liptons I can see the draw but otherwise... <shudder>. For supermarket tea, Yorkshire Tea is the sauce, if I'm making a pot though it's Mangallam Gold which is a special finest tippy orange pekoe and you'll know why you're paying £40 a pound for it as soon as you pour the first cup.

No, I didn't know they were changing their logo yet again, either. Just saw it during a gas stop this weekend. Damn ipod font is everywhere.

That new logo is very fucking obviously trying to capitalize on fucking Obama and that's just Not Right. Besides, I've seen Obama drinking coke in pictures, I'm not sure what they're thinking.

Are you talking about Midnight Rush? Because that stuff was godawful. But then, regular mountain dew is pretty much a hazard anyway.

No love for Irn Bru? Shame be upon my head, for my Scottishness fails me: I cannot stand the stuff. I find it useful for curing a hangover, though: once I've drunk some and therefore been sick I can get on with the day.
