Apparently I'm just falling apart. Sitting at my desk -- random nosebleed. I'm sure it's related to the massive sinus infection I just got over plus the ping-ponging fronts moving through, but....what the hell, body?

Happens to me occasionally when it really dry, especially after having a sinus infection. Only cure seems to be to hydrate, but I'm not convinced that helps.

Drinking plenty of water is definitely good for you, especially in the dry winter months.  I used to suffer from very dry skin in the winter, I even got these dry patches that itched like mad unless I slathered them in lotion all the time.  Since I've been drinking tons more water though, last winter wasn't too bad at all for dry skin and I'm thinking it'll be the same this year too.

Heh, just had a 3 week ordeal with nosebleeds. One nostril would just not heal.   Sometimes nothing works.  Finally had to get it cauterized.  Holy shit is that uncomfortable.

And yah, I previously had a pretty bad sinus infection as well.  My allergies had turned my face into a temple of pain and snot.

Zombie Apocalypse is nigh.

Everything's a zombie apocalypse with you.

I too have issues with making out what people are saying when there's a lot of ambient noise, though weirdly it's mostly female voices (I'm guessing because of the higher pitch). I can make out that they're speaking and can catch some words but the vast majority doesn't seem to process. Don't have the problem much with deeper voices which sometimes means when I'm with a group of people I really can only hear one side of a conversation.

My son has always gotten spontaneous nosebleeds - used to happen about once a month, now it happens every few months.

I took him in to urgent care for one particularly bad nosebleed that wouldn't abate. Of course, by the time the doctor saw him, it had abated, but he checked him out anyway. His advice: keep some Polysporin around, and use it daily in dry weather (squirt a bit on a finger and put it up each nostril, rub it around to moisten).

Works great. (Neosporin works too but has a bad taste, according to the kid).

Holy fuck.

Dept admin is on the phone to the non-emergency line of the police dept (at least, I hope it's the non-emergency line) to tell them that on her way to work she saw a little yellow car driving along with the hose to a gas pump attached and she didn't get a plate number, but the car pulled off on a side street and someone got out and it was a black man and there was something on the side of the car and she was driving and oh, it's now 8:55 am and this happened at 7:20 am and she just wanted to let them know.

What. the. fuck.

Eat brains?  Or go to a doctor who doesn't have long pointy teeth?  Does your face hurt?  I know it's killing me.  Really, go to hospital before you bleed out.

God, if I were your mother, ANY OF YOU, I would be having my pupils checked on a regular basis.

Finally got some decent entry level sound gear for the wife's VO studio due to some lightning sales etc.  KRK Rokit 5's sound amazing and I am trying to figure out how to steal them from her.

Difficulty filtering noise from conversation, or being a dude?

More the former. I had bad ear infections as an infant...and then, I swear, I think an experiment we did in 8th grade science class fucked something up - he had huge speakers in the back, and we could walk towards/away to experience the node/antinode of the very-bass soundwave. I remember feeling like something was off after that.

My brother, for a period of time in junior high, slept with a towel over his pillow because at least twice a week he'd have a nosebleed in his sleep. Finally traced it to a vitamin deficiency, although I can't recall which one. His diet was more or less fine but something-something-growth spurt-something-something-not enough something.

It was the last thing they were trying before cauturizing it, since the doctor thought it was kinda of a long shot given his diet was sufficient. But after, you know, like three months of that....

Oh great, back to golf.  Sheesh.  My father played golf.  My grandfather shot poor helpless birds.  Sometimes it's like the home I couldn't wait to escape around here.  If you guys start chatting about the snooker championships, I'll cry.

Mumford and Sons is intolerable dreck. Every few years a jammy sounding shitty folk band comes along. It's been a while since Dispatch though.

Just noticed this comment was 4 pages late. Don't care.
