Computers in general are really pissing me off these days.  Browser problems, service intrusions, hardware failures, etc.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

I just found my company's linux repository.  Sources and ISOs for every variant I have heard of, plus others.  Which is cool and I now wish I had not wasted time downloading CentOS images.

Why do tires cost so fucking much? Serioiusly. I just replaced two of the four (because I can't AFFORD the other fucking two). 275 bucks. These aren't 16 inch high-performance tires. I didn't shove on expensive, eco-friendly, high-mileage super tires.

Just two regular freakin' tires on my Prius. Oh, 30 of that was apparently for..something something something "tire pressure system" something, which I take is the little gizmo that makes my car pop up the "OH SHIT YOUR TIRE PRESSURE IS LOW!" warning.

I had all 5 toyota valve stem/pressure sensors rebuilt a couple weeks ago, $23 for the whole set at Discount Tire.  You got jacked. That said, my tires are going to be $200 a pop when I have to replace them this winter.

Yeah I had all five (4 plus spare) tires on my car replaced at Costco or Sam's recently.
The price you paid sounds high Morat.

Tires proper were 78 bucks a piece. TPS things was like 10 or 15 a tire, which was high. I've NEVER had problems with being overcharged by these guys (generally everyone else has to drop to their price). The damn itemized bill confused me, insofar as the extra money seemed to cover some sort of warranty beyond their usual road-hazard stuff.

OTOH, they're good for 65,000 miles. This is the first time I've bought brand-new tires from them without having them pro-rated for mileage. (These were the original car tires). I admit, usually a tire dies from road damage or something around 35,000 or so and I get a good chunk off the new tire because of it.

Edited to add: Also I probably shouldn't have bought tires while strung-out and desperately wanting to sleep. Damn night shift. I just wanted new tires on my car because belt was showing on one, and then I wanted to go home and collapse.

Nobody in my dad's immediate family (myself excluded) can drive a car, and they're all in their 50s.

Guess who gets to help everyone move because he's the only one who can drive a U-Haul?   awesome, for real

Because, when I was 18 (living in a small/medium sized town in Italy, by the way) I was too lazy to keep going to driving school and stuff, and my parents didn't kick me in the ass for behaving that way.

Then, in 2004, I discovered I was epileptic, luckily a VERY mild form of epilepsy (no real seizures, just weird feelings in my head and in my left leg for about 15 seconds...I'm on a daily pills therapy since then, no more episodes), so that didn't exactly encouraged me to try again.

But last autumn, for a variety of reasons, I thought "what the hell"...And here I am, with my driving license: so yeah, mistakes, punched myself in the balls thinking about "what If I got the license earlier" but then you can't always focus on the past, so let's look ahead :)

No. The tires were 80 bucks a piece. What moved "160 + tax" to like "240 + tax" seemed to be the tire pressure systems, some warranties and road hazard stuff, etc.

I think my real sticker shock was that I'm used to having tires under warranty, so I'm used to getting a serious discount since I don't think I've ever driven a tire past it's warranty mileage or whatever it's called. That and the car I was driving before used the world's cheapest and most common tires.

Living in Europe is a good excuse.  Incredulity isn't surprising coming from a Texan either since even our smallest towns are very spread out.  Land is not something we're short on in almost all areas of the state.

You can opt out of the warranty/road hazard crap. And it is crap if you ask me. I think that adds $10-20/tire to your total.
I think $240 isn't terrible, as 4 new tires for my Highlander cost $900 for good tires (have snow to worry about here).

I've always gotten the road hazard insurance with my cars and it's always paid off.  On every car I've had so far I've had at least two flats due to the shitty ass roads here in Tejas.

Yep.  The husband paid $800 recently to have new tires put on his Highlander as well.  He went and found the ones he wanted online because the stock ones that Toyota recommends were absolutely shit for snow around here.  As in "I'm afraid of getting kill driving this car" shit dangerous.  The new ones were beautiful this past winter.

We're looking at putting new tires on my Santa Fe this summer because while they only have 39ish thousand miles on them, they are also the original tires and are now 7.5 years old, so it's an age thing and not from mileage.

The good areas of San Antonio are fine, but there's a lot of construction which leads to nails in tires.  The bad areas of San Antonio are probably just like rural Mexico or Detroit.

Me too.  Generally speaking, once I have it it's pretty cheap to maintain and I rather like not having to pay for repairs and rotations, plus generally getting about 25% or so off when I replace the tire thanks to mileage.

The N-Strike stuff my son has provided a harsh lesson in how unfun always having to reload is.  He now plays with them without the darts.  It sucks having to reload the 3 5-dart clips he has, I can't imagine reloading that bandoleer for the chain gun every 2-3 minutes.

Well, that's why he's got 3 clips instead of the 1 clip that came with the gun.  He quickly caught-on that more clips means an even longer time reloading and finding the darts when they're empty, so he doesn't want any more clips.
