THANK YOU, JAVON MOTHERFUCKING WALKER! 3 fucking touchdowns, who knew?! Did anyone watch this game? How many fucking times did they have to see Reggie Wayne burn that rookie Horton before they realized, "Hey, this rook cannot fucking cover this guy." I understand McKenzie sprained HIS labia and didn't play, but shit, put someone with some fucking speed and cover skills on Wayne. Wayne just ate that D up. And why exactly is it that the Packers brand new D Coordinator thought that blitzing Peyton Manning was a good idea? No, no it wasn't. It was fucking stupid. The only way to stop Manning is either 1) cover the fucking receivers, which they weren't doing, or 2) DON'T GIVE HIM THE FUCKING BALL. But no, Mike Sherman has to go out there trying to show that he can run a pass-happy offense just as well as the Colts. Only he can't, because besides Walker, none of the Packer wideouts are really the same caliber as even Reggie Wayne. Why not run the fucking football A LOT, control the goddamn clock, then air it out. FUCK YOU, MIKE SHERMAN.
The Patriots are about the only team that can win a shootout with the Colts this year.
And what the fuck is wrong with Michael Vick? You can't even throw or run for a touchdown against the FUCKING CARDINALS? AND YOU FUMBLE TWICE!?! SHIT!

If there's one thing we learned with that Packers/Colts game, it's that the Colts have a horrid, horrid defense. A couple of those Javon Walker receptions were just criminal he was so wide open. If Sherman and his coaching staff had any sort of brain, they would have given that defense an Ahman Green enema. Only when they attempted to mix in some runs, did they disrupt Manning's rhythm. If they would have done that from the start, I find it highly unlikely that Manning would have exploded like that.
Not that I mind, and I'm glad he (Manning) slowed down some in the second half. I'd like to save a 500 yard, 7 touch down performance for when I really need it :) Attempting to run James a lot in the second half really brought their offense to a screetching halt.
And God, Vick was horrid. The man has zero touch. It was really pathetic watching him and his teammates blow chance after chance against the Cards. If it hadn't been for a few breaks of their own, they easily could have lost to the worst team in the NFL.

By the way, Haemish, how did picking up Roy Williams work out for you yesterday in the Corpnews league? I understand he had 9 catches for 135 yards and 2 TDs. :)
Actually, I have some sympathy, because I had Reggie Wayne on the bench...Plaxico made a decent contribution, but I got under 2.5 total points out of my starting tandem of Derrick Mason and Peerless Price.
Speaking of Atlanta, it looks like you should have started Tom Brady at QB....he would have given you a better week. Then again, Joey Harrington would a better start yesterday than Aaron Brooks.
So it all comes down to Clinton Portis vs the Cowboys Defense.
And yknow what this has taught me? FANTASY FOOTBALL IS FUCKIN HARD, AND NEITHER ONE OF US ARE GOOD AT IT.
Bring the noise. Cheers.............

Well, Jamal Lewis finally woke up for me, and barring an unprecedented Clinton Portis explosion tonight, the Roosters will finally be back in the W column.
However, this Jeff Garcia thing is no longer funny. He and Leftwich are just God awful horrible. I picked up Kurt Warner from the free agent pool; hopefully he will continue to show some signs of life.
Now I just need to get Steven Davis healthy, hope that several of you suffer debilitating injuries, and the Roosters will be on the way to the repeat! Or .500.

And how badly do the St. Louis Rams suck ass? I had to watch their game with the Saints and frankly, neither team is worth a damn. Even better, instead of seeing the Falcons/Panthers game next week, I'll probably have to watch the goddamn Saints play Arizona. Fuck you very much, regional network NFL coverage. Also, fuck you very much Fox and the NFL for making me watch the Saints/Rams overtime and missing the first 4 touchdowns of the Colts/Packers game.

Die. I had to watch that damn Cardinal's game. Nothing like watching two inept offenses fumble their way to victory. At least I got to see the start of the Colt/Packers game. CBS only covered one game this week here and it was the frickin' Chargers/Broncos game... bleh.

You do realize that that was the first game he's won in 3 years right? You do realize that a quarterback has put up a 0.00 passer rating in an NFL game only 2 times since 1976, and one of those was my starter, Jeff Garcia, last week! My #2 guy is on a 3-0 team that is somehow averaging 12 points a game! I am a desperate man. Hell, I picked up Rothleswhateverburger too.

I'm in 4 football leagues, and managed to get a win in 3 out of 4 leagues! WOOT!
Of course, the 4th was CorpNews Part Deux, and I lost by 1 FUCKING POINT! Eddie George, though art almost useless. I swear if Dallas had stopped Portis from gaining like 20 yards, I'd have won that game. Did anyone watch MNF? That was an example of two teams trying to outsorry each other. Half the time Portis looked like he didn't know what hole to run into. Lavernus Coles had to huge drops, clock management was a cluster fuck and the Cowboys seem determined to use Eddie George like the Steelers used Jerome Bettis in the first game. I finally had to stop watching the game and play some City of Heroes.

When Witten scored a TD, and Portis couldn't find his way into the endzone, I thought I was a goner for sure.....but then your vaunted Cowboys defense gave up a garbage TD drive in the waning minutes. I have Coles in my league and I was screaming at him in the first quarter. They threw to him every time on one series and he dropped or missed all three balls. I was furious also when he couldn't get in the end zone and it cost Washington the TD on the goal line fiasco of trying to run Portis in twice. They are lucky that tipped ball on 3rd down wasn't picked and taken yard the other way.
All in all the game was a nailbiter for the contest of who could stop sucking long enough to win. Dallas going into a shell would have worked if they would realize that everybody and their mothers expects an up the gut run on first down. Here's an idea, do a hitch pass or a screen early and catch the D off guard you braindead playmonkeys. And the challenges, dear lord! Gibbs probably did the worst job of clock management not only in the first half but the second as well. It looked like the seniors tour on the sidelines.
That being said the game had its moments. The toss to the halfback for the strike throw into the endzone trick play was gold. That was the winning play and it deserved to be. Also, the Ron Gardner show at the end of the game was a thing of beauty. He was playing his ass off just to keep his guys in the game, even if he couldn't get out of bounds at the end.

I still can't believe that not only did Terry Glenn NOT get called for offensive pass interference on that first Dallas scoring drive, but he managed to get them to call defensive interference on the Skins DB. I mean, what fucking game were the refs watching? Call the penalty right, the Redskins win the game.

That's the way the Cowboys-Redskins games go. Even if the Boys are the weaker team, they always win. Need I remind anyone of the 1989 season where they went 1-15?
Where was the one win again? Oh that's right, in Washington. That loss cost them the playoffs that season under Gibbs, finishing 10-6.
In 1991 the Skins won the Super Bowl, and opened with 11 straight wins, but guess who broke that streak? That's right, America's Team.
By hook, crook, or flat out-playing them, the Cowboys own the Redskins on any turf.

You are watching the 'Oh we have to make the whiny Peyton Mannings of the world happy' game of NFL football where no one is allowed to even breath on a receiver the wrong way otherwise Peyton will cry some more. And we know how the NFL loves to bend over for those Manning boys. And he still couldn't beat the Patriots cause of his stupid 'liquored up' kicker, haha. uurrrm, sorry back on topic...

To be fair to the Peyton Mannings, not only were the New England DB's ALL OVER the Colts receivers in the championship game last year, but the botched call in Monday night's game was REALLY FUCKING BAD. I mean, Glenn even goes so far as to grab the DB's jersey and pull, for Chrissakes. Strangely enough, the DB starts tripping up and trips into the receiver and he gets called for pass interference.
The refs have made a great show of saying they'll call more pass interferences, but I'd rather they just got the fucking calls right.

I'd agree. Correct calls are more important than calling every tiny kinda-sorta infraction.
As for how scoring and passing stats have gone down...have they taken a look at the state of the league lately? I mean hell, the Packers last year had 3 separate 5 yard-per-carry rushers.
Why throw the ball when you can get production like that?

Yeah it was a bad call but that db did more than trip and fall he grabbed and pulled down on Terry Glenn's shoulder on his way down. Of course he was on his way down because he was being shoved in the back but that's besides the point in my eyes :)

Over in the CorpNews league, Haemish had WayAbvPar beaten even before NFL Prime Time started.
Myself, I am down by like 2 points with Tony Gonzalez left....my opponent has Matt Stover at K, and Kevan Johnson at WR. It's going to be a close one again.
Faulk had a good game, but didn't score. Portis had a TD, but also lost a fumble. Aaron Brooks lost a fumble and didn't ever score. Plaxico was a non-factor yet again. Reggie Wayne went from hero to zero. Pittsburgh's defense, Derrick Mason, and Olindo Mare kept me close.
My big more though was picking up Anquan Boldin out of free agency. Reports are that he may look to come back as soon as week 7. If he can regain his rookie form for even 5-6 games, it's the steal of the season. Even if not, it's only one roster spot....and that's not such a big deal, as by this time next week, I'll be able to drop my backup TE and stick with Tony the rest of the way.
Bring the noise. Cheers.............

Over in the CorpNews league, Haemish had WayAbvPar beaten even before NFL Prime Time started. Haemish pwned me in the F13 league too. This was a perfect week to catch me, since my top two picks were on bye (due to the vagaries of the Yahoo draft system, I ended up with Culpepper and Moss on 3 (!!!) different teams). Picking up Kerry Collins just in time for him to shit the bed vs Houston was a brilliant move on my part as well.

Well, looks like I have the opportunity to knock off a top dog in the league once again. I just hope Morton can out pace Matt Stover. Although with the way my kicker put up points this week, I wouldn't bet on it (I have a feeling karma will catch up with me). Kind of an aweful week for both teams.

Again, I win 3 out of 4 league games this week. The only one I lost was CorpNews part 1, and that by only 4 points, which I could pick up tonight provided Eric Warfield of KC's D does something of note. Which means, probably not likely.
Reggie Wayne is one of those awesome one week, neglible the next week. What happens is he has a game like he had against the Pack, then gets his ass double-teamed the next week. Wayne and Harrison were constantly double-teamed by the Jags, which opened up Brandon Stokely to catch like 8-9 balls, as well as give Marcus Pollard a seam for a TD Pass.
Tom Brady is my QB in all 4 leagues, and let me tell you, he is MONEY. Marvin Harrison is money. The only downside I have in the F13 league is RB. Staley is just not going to score touchdowns this year, and Rudi Johnson has only had one good game this year, that being yesterday. Also Tennessee's D FUCKING SUCKS. Shame on you for letting Drew FUCKING Brees eat you alive. I watched part of that game and just shook my head. Brees looked great, Tomlinson looked great. The Titans looked like deer in headlights.
New Orleans Saints, go home. You are chokers, plain and simple. They have no excuse for not being a good team, and they just aren't a good team. I watched most of the Cardinals-Saints game and that was a case of two teams trying to outsorry each other. Emmet Smith OWNED the Saints D. While Emmet is still a good back, he shouldn't be able to do that with a Cardinals passing attack that lacks Boldin. Fitzgerald needs another good receiver to take the heat off him and they don't have it. Cards D looks decent though.
Packers... oh my Packers, you're killing me. I knew Mike Sherman couldn't recruit good defensive players. Now it seems like he can't run the fucking offense either. In a game that was 0-0 into the 3rd quarter, how can Ahman Green only have 58 yards. WTF? I know they lost Flanagan for the season, but holy shit. Green Bay would be much better off without Mike Sherman. Get some fucking D Linemen that can stop the run... oh wait, you did, only he got hurt and you had no backups. Great job.

Well my starters seriously underperformed this week. No TD's from Faulk, 8 points from Farve, crap from Wayne. My one bright spot was Shockey. With the way the F13 point system is skewed towards recievers I don't see how I have a chance tonight, I think Rasix will have this one locked up by half time.

Both teams tried to underperform each other it seems (3pt, Jags D.. wtf). Of course, Curtis Martin was dynamite again. This guy is easily my early season MVP. Peyton was steady, which is all I can ask for him against a good D.
I hope Morton can at least grab 4-5 balls (Green doesn't remember sometimes that he has targets other than Priest and Tony). But really, if Baltimore has trouble getting into the end zone, I can see Stover pulling this one out. Plus, it's not unheard of for recievers to just disappear. The game has me uneasy, but any win for me is just a bonus. Injuries plus Fred Taylor basically being an early season bust has put me in an uncomfortable position. I really hate having to do another season with no consistant TE play.
If your team produced decently though, I'd have been toast. I'm afraid I'm going to have to catch teams on their off days. Trying to survive without decent recieving and TE play in this league is just impossible.

The interesting part about the league focus on WR and TE play is that there are A LOT MORE WRs and TEs than there are productive RBs, and there are always a dozen or so that emerge during the year. I like that better than everyone drafting RBs in the first 3 rounds and hoping that the guys who had earlier position have bad luck with injuries.

Well, the flip side of that is that tight end and wide reciever play can be highly eratic and hard to predict. When you lose your top reciever, both tight ends, and have one reciever come out to being a huge flop, you're fucked. Of course, I'd likely be fucked in any situation, but this one doubly so.
You're underestimating just how many of these guys are gobbled up too. With the heavy focus on WRs, just about every team's one and two man has been drafted. Maybe some guys will emerge, but it's likely that they'll just end up being another David Terrell (HEY NICE GAME AFTER I DUMPED YOU).
Bleh, this probably wouldn't have been an issue if I would have attended the draft live. 2 fucking kickers and 2 Ds. Goddamnit.
Edit: Yes, I am a steaming pile of bitter right now.

If you don't feel like playing anymore, I'll take Boo Williams, Sean Alexander, and Tory Holt off your hands. You can have the Amazing Eddie George, Ben Troupe and Jonny Morton in trade!!!! Shit, I'll even throw in Fred Taylor.

Tony Gonzalez is fucking lucky he is on a bye next week. If he pulled this shit 2 weeks in a row, I'd have to pistol whip his ass.
Gonzalez not only found himself outperformed by Shockey, which is bad enough....he found himself outperformed by MATT FUCKING STOVER....he found himself outperformed by ARRON FRICKIN BROOKS.
2.1 points?? Kiss my fuckin ass, you no TD catching, Dick Vermeil loving, in last place behind the Chargers, 1-3 piece of shit. If you weren't far and away the best TE in football, I'd drop you like a one night stand at dawn.

Is it just me, or am I the only one finding that getting a good, fantasy-production RB almost impossible? I mean, Staley's ok, but Bettis is just about beating him out for points with less than 25 yards rushing, all because he's the one scoring TD's. And the waiver wire is a joke for RB's. Most of the FA RB's only have points because of the 1 and only TD they'll get this year. The only consistent RB's I can think of are James, Martin, Holmes, Green and Lewis (though neither have been spectacular), and Tomlinson. Stephen Davis and Shaun Alexander being hurt does diminish the pool a bit. But shit, I've offered a trade for Emmit Smith, for chrissake.

Back to .500 with a wide-open passing attack featuring T.O. and Moulds. Unfortunately, next week I will have to go without my main stud T.O. who is pretty much the only reason I am not 0-4 right now. Hopefully Steven Davis will be back and perform decently for me.
Then again, I face the hard-luck Liver, which means I should win by 3 points with my highest score of the season, like everyone else has done against those poor slobs :)
