Interesting post on Miguel de Icaza's blog (Miguel is the creator of Mono, the .NET implementation for Linux).  In the first part he talks about the challenges associated with moving scripts along with avatars from server to server in SL.

I think it's an interesting use of mono.  It makes sense given Java/.NET as a sort of halfway point between interpreted scripting languages and "touching the metal" languages like C/C++.
