http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/06/14/home.depot.drugs/index.htmlA contractor late last week discovered two 50-pound "bricks" of marijuana wrapped in plastic bags inside a bathroom vanity he had purchased at a Home Depot store in Tewksbury, said Chief of Detectives Lt. Dennis Peterson. The estimated street value of the marijuana is around $145,000, Peterson said. Similar incidents have occurred in other parts of the state. A plumber purchased a vanity in western Massachusetts on Monday in which he later found 3 kilograms of cocaine and around 40 pounds of marijuana, with a total estimated street value of $250,000, according to the Southwick Police Department. Southwick Police Lt. David A. Ricardi said the item was purchased at "a local hardware store" but would not confirm it came from The Home Depot. According to Peterson, a third individual discovered large quantities of illegal drugs inside Home Depot merchandise. Peterson would not provide the details of that incident but said it was part of the overall investigation and that Tewksbury police were working with their Southwick counterparts and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Tewksbury police and DEA officials conducted a search Tuesday of about 12 Home Depot stores statewide and found other bathroom vanities that contained drugs, Peterson said. He would not elaborate on how many drug caches were discovered in the search. In each incident being investigated by Tewksbury Police, all of the merchandise boxes originated from a Texas location and were distributed through one Massachusetts warehouse, Peterson said. "I'm sure the packages were being shipped to the distribution center and someone was supposed to intercept them," Peterson said. "So that person [who was supposed to intercept the packages] either wasn't on duty that day or the packages were marked wrong." The Southwick and Tewksbury Police Departments both said The Home Depot was cooperating fully with their investigations, and no one employed by the company is a suspect at this time. Both departments also said none of the customers who purchased the vanities that contained drugs are suspects. In a written statement, The Home Depot said, "The company is cooperating with authorities as they investigate this matter, and we will support law enforcement in any way possible to help bring those responsible to justice."

So, they don't arrest you if you call them up? Maybe it's just me but I'd be paranoid as crap that they'd figure hey less work for us, we'll just arrest the guy who called us. Maybe I just read too much fark.
Also, I wouldn't even know where to offload that amount, I'd probably get caught trying to.

I hate drugs but if I found that much weed in a vanity I'd sell it at a high school football field.

I bet you know someone who would. It's not really something you can discuss at the water cooler, most non-smokers have no idea how many people they know smoke.

They're proposing raising the state tax on cigarettes again out here, from 84 cents to $4.14. I bet there will be a few less smokers in California soon. At least those that buy legal cigarettes. Just random input I heard on the radio yesterday's commute.

84 cents to $4.14?
I'm pretty sure a clever lawyer could call that cruel and ENTIRELY UNUSUAL punishment. Also, California sucks.

Does anyone know someone who could buy 3 keys of coke and 100lb of weed ? I have a fairly dodgy past and i dont personally know anyone one or two levels up the distribution chain who deal in those amounts. I dont know anyone who could wash 200k's worth of cash either. That much is fairly bigtime, and I think i'd stick clear of it all.
The last thing I'd want is attention from the real dealers round here. I'd end up fed to pigs on Bricktops pig farm (yeh I live in that part of London, and know people who know the real Bullet Tooth Tony and all those other lovely people Guy Ritchie bases his characters on but I dont want to ever meet them) so i think handing it in wouldnt be such a bad idea after all.

Yeah, plus whoever fucked up and lost that delivery is probably on the run or dead right now. You probably don't want to mess with those people.

Not everyone does. Some of my friends happen to be quite fond of such people. :-D I would hate to be involved with the situation in any way though. As already said, these are people you don't want to mess with. With quantities like that the cops probably are not going to suspect you, but with the hysteria surrounding drugs I wouldn't exactly feel comfortable from law enforcement for a long time after turning them over.

I certainly was. It turns out that my wife and I are pretty much the only people in both our personal and professional lives who don't smoke weed. Our neighbor is a DA. She is constantly complaining about having to prosecute pot cases in front of judges she's smoked with, brought to them by cops she's smoked with. Frankly I'd rather live in a world where pot was completely legal, but public intoxication carried the death penalty. It would be a much nicer place to be. Our laws regarding weed really need to be looked at and changed. As far as I can tell, the percentage of people under 50 who use is way larger than those who don't.

Never been a big weed fan. I just don't particularly enjoy the high of it (I vastly prefer a gutful of booze). If other people want to smoke it, I could care less. However, the 'wake and bake' crowd get on my very last nerve. Probably the same way someone who gets out of bed and slugs down a beer would. But there seems to be a lot more of the former.

It can go stale just like the tobacco in cigarettes if left out to open air. Additionally yes if it gets wet and exposed it will go bad. Otherwise as long as its kept sealed after being dried it will keep for a good long while. You would just have to break the bricks down into smaller packages and reseal them using one of those vacuum sealers from Walmart.

I think I'd make it into a coffee table or something. Not that it matters... I'm not lucky enough to find a bunch of pot. It's hard enough to even BUY any in this confused country!

Try craig's list or myspace. In NY on Craig's list you can get door to door delivery.
