Pirates of the Burning Sea recently released a gameplay video that looks pretty decent. One of the developers is a long time member of the SA forums and he's shared quite a bit of information there. Who knows how it'll end up, but beta is soon.

Few links -

Gameplay video. Shows some combat, a whole lot of the interface, and character creation.

Beta sign up. It'll start small, 20-30 players within the next week. Then it'll move up to 500 players, and from then "who knows?" is the quote. Release is aimed for the very end of this year.

I'm a HUGE fan of Napoleanic Age of Sail stuff so I will certainly be checking this out.

Goddamn it. I filled out the whole beta application, then get to the bottom and they want a dxdiag file. Arrgh! Don't they know that everyone fills these out at work? I am busy PLAYING GAMES when I am on my home box!

haha, I did the same exact thing.

I have VNC setup at home, but not on my gaming PC, else I would have just done it that way.

VNC is Luv.  Tho as I come into 3 years ago OS-wise, I'm begining to like MS's Remote Desktop too.  I've been using VNC longer, tho, basically as long as I've had a computer on an always-on network connection.

Who can resist a game based on rum, buggery, and the lash? Maybe I should put that on my beta app...

"hobbies: skullduggery"  I said on my Beta app.  Could add "quickbuggery" or "earbuggery" or "tax evasion".

It's probably a robbery, a bit of skullduggery...

I followed the development of this game for a while a couple years back but lost interest after seeing plenty of ship models but hearing next to nothing about the actual gameplay.  After reading a bit, I'm still not sure if I should be excited about anything in this game beyond the basic concept.  Worth a look, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

How are they dealing with the seemigly vert long travel times that ships of sail have to deal with?

Sea shanties, bitches! Sea shanties!

That and maybe they'll get bungie to license Pimps at Sea as a time passer...
