I've been getting a lot of LUA errors with BeneCast lately. Makes me sad.
The guy who wrote Benecast pretty much abandoned the addon. Use Benecast-k. It's labeled as a multi-language version, but it's still being updated and maintained. I started using that last night and found it to be much less buggy.

Somebody warned me that I could get ticketed for using Fishing Buddy. Anybody know why this is, or if it's true? I haven't noticed any difference with the "easy lure" setting, and I don't know what else could be considered exploitive.

Wow, you can level a rogue without playing him No wonder Bliz would be interested in making the add-ons and macro's harder to do. I have mixed emotions on it anyway, UO was borked and took forever to get GM in many skills, plus there wasn't skill locks and stat locks, so macro'ing with EZ Macros or putting a piece of tap on a key was the way to go. Of course, UO has allways said unattended macro was grounds for banning. AC was wild, you could macro attended or unattended and it was okay, made and saw some pretty intense scripts, but really only needed it for tradeskill. I didn't ever need to run a fighting or leveling macro, mostly did it to make my tradesmule to skill up. Buffbots were great to have, especially if they could teleport and buff you, and was a money maker for your alliance. I'm kinda torn, on one hand I would like to not have it, but sometimes I wish I could just automate fishing and go off for a few hours and come back and be done with it.

Somebody warned me that I could get ticketed for using Fishing Buddy. I didn't come across anything explicitly stating that. It's just a merge of three existing add-ons. But... from the description on Curse Gaming I can see why Blizz would object: Features: - 'Fish Watcher' lets you see the fish you've caught here before (or the fish that you've caught in the current session) - Display your current skill level and the time since you started fishing - Choose your fishing outfit and change into it easily - Simplified casting support (right click to cast, fast recast) - Support for automatically adding a lure to your fishing pole - Full Titan Panel support - myAddOns support - Preliminary support for tracking 'cycle fish' such as the Nightfin Snapper so you know when to go looking for them

I've never broken 100 fishing, so that's all gibberish to me. Is it on a fixed cycle that you can predict anyway, or does Fishing Buddy peek at game data to see what's coming up?

No clue. When I fish I'm using something completely verbotten. It's always fun to see what's in my pack when I log back in.
Same with UO - I had some truly intricate and complex fishing macros when I fished for MiBs in the way back times.

- Preliminary support for tracking 'cycle fish' such as the Nightfin Snapper so you know when to go looking for them Is it night? Yes - then Nightfin snapper is available. Is it day? No - then sunscale salmon is not available. Is it summer? Yes - then summer bass is available. Is it winter? No - then winter squid is not availanle. Yeah, I'd so ban somebody for automating that decision tree. Blizzard have nothing against Fishing Buddy, and they never had. That's FUD that came about because Fishing Buddy was one of the only fishing addons around when Blizzard were complaining about fishing cheats that they were suspending accounts for using. Those 'fishing cheats' were not a reference to anything found on the standard addons sites, but a set of unattended macros found on a couple of the less upstanding sites. People would set up the bot, and before the nerf to item drops, would come back a few hours later to packs full of BoE greens and blues.
