Hey guys, thought I'd just make a quick post and throw up my UI (it's pretty good).
General stuff: Gatherer mod - shows nodes that you've gathered from, very useful. CTMod - General mod that covers lots of different things. Titan Bar + lots of add ons - Excellent mod, very clean, shows some useful information. Atlas - Maps for instances.
Combat stuff: SCT - scrolling combat text is an absolute must. QSA - quu spell alert mod, nice and useful, not a must, but nice. Cooldowncout - nifty.
Caster stuff: Benecast - if you are a caster and you've never used this, you're missing something HUGE (melee's can shut this off in the addon bar at log in). Autobuff - Lots of settings to automatically cast self buffs (useful for shamans and thorns for druids). Totemtimers - Shaman stuff.
Other: BGinvite - 1 click to invite everyone in the BG. WSG minimap - useful. Stancesets - not as useful cuz of global cooldown. Quu Retarget - attempts to retarget after being feared. AF_Tooltip - centers the tooltip on your mouse clicker.
Enjoy! If you have any q's ask me!

I just use Cosmos. I'm going fucking crazy right now since the latest update of Cosmos moved over to a shittier all-in-one addon manager system, and I can't figure out how to set it so I stay in whatever channel I last chatted in by default so I don't have to keep typing /1 or /g over and over.

hehe, my ui is crazy (but i just LOVE having loads of options/features installed.
I have 41 different directories in my Addons Folder now, and every one of them does something usefull. Probably 2/3rds ofthem i would consider indispensable.
Oh, do yourself a favour. Grab Lootlink, bankstatement, and CastOptions. They are 3 must have addons in my opinion. Cast options is a BIG must for any caster class.

What the hell do all of them do? Cosmos has all sorts of buffbot-ish type stufffor helping casters. And there is NO substitute for the Auctioneer and Gatherer plugins.

I spend a good amount of time dicking with my UI to get it the way I like it. I like the minimalistic/functional type UI layouts.
Plugins:
-Atlas: ingame instance map database -CTMod: Core, Mass Mail, Map Mod, Quest Levels -Clean MiniMap -Discord Action Bars: awesome bar mod for us non-Flexbar smarty folk. -Discord Unit Frames -Decursive: one touch cheating if you can dispell/purge/counter -Telo's Addons: Buff Timers, Quick Loot, Loot Link, Self Cast -Gatherer -Good Inspect: inscreases inspect range by quite a bit -HitsMode: changes your combat log box to be much easier to follow -MobInfo2: adds a grip of configurable info into tooltip displays -OneBag: same thing as myInventory, AllInOneInventory, etc. just better memory usage -Scrolling Combat Text -Spell Alert: very useful in PvP for interrupts etc. -Titan Panel: Quest Plugin, XP Status Plugin, Item Bonus Plugin (Ace and Sea as function libraries)
I follow the plugin community pretty closely, and keep all my stuff up to date. I'm in the anti-Cosmos crowd that thinks the suite is a hassle and a memory hog. Although when I first started playing I used it and it did have some neat features. I just couldn't handle all the bugs at that time. So to each his own. Although CTMod will give you most of the same functionality as Cosmos with better support, IMHO.

I use CTMod along with Titan and various Titan plug-ins.
I also use Gatherer, Auctioneer, Scrolling Combat Text, Tooltip Wrangler, MobInfo2, CastTime, BeneCast, Fishing Buddy and a few other various add-ons.
Lately I've noticed that when I cancel a Druid shapeform (cat, bear, seal) my correct action bar does not come back. It's getting annoying.

Say Flood. Speaking of HitsMode, I have recently been messing around with this, and am somewhat iffy about the way it displays some actions. Any idea if there is a way to modify the syntax order to have more of a natural english flow (the way the default Comabt Log has).
For example, in Hits Mode, it regularly gives the following line:
[You] chilled resist [Mobname] - if i resisted the ice armor chilled effect on a monster
There are a couple other bizzare syntax issues like that which just drive me nuts everytime I see them.
As for my UI, my Addons Directory more or less contains the following:
AF_ToolTip Archaeologist Atlas Auctioneer AutoBuff BibCore, BibToolbars (toolbar addon) CastOptions CallToArms CooldownCount, CooldownCountBibToolbars, CooldownCountTrinketMenu CT_MailMod, CT_RaidAssist, CT_TickMod, CT_Timer DamageMeters Decursive EnhTooltip FishingBuddy Gatherer Goodinspect HitsMode KillLog LootLink MyAddons (an Addon Manager. will become much more usefull as time passes and more mods support its functions) perl (Nymbia's Perl Unitframes, a unit/party/target frame replacement mod, includes Target of Target) QuickLoot Reputation ScrollingCombat Text Titan (CombatInfo, ItemBonuses, PvPInfo, Skills) TotemTimers TrinketMenu (handy for managing many trinkets in packs, especially if you are an engineer) Wardrobe (Equipment set switcher)
Chronos, MComTemplate, Sea (function Set libraries)

SurfD: I have been using HitsMode myself about 3 days. Literally. My goal is to keep as few plugins as I can (LOL) to keep it "minimal". I thought SCT was sufficient. But after seeing alot of people that used HitsMode, I dropped it in and liked it...so I use both now. I don't know any specific fix for the syntax error, but I do recall the version I have installed (2.0) having a rather elaborate options setup. That's all I know about it so far, sorry. An oh yea the ItemBonuses plugin that SurfD (and I) listed is the shit for such an underadvertised plugin. Super easy to compare armor setups on the fly.

TipBuddy BeneCast Decursive (because Lucifron/Gehennas are lame encounters) AutoMount (auto-dismount you when you attempt to use an ability) ScrollingCombatText AutoInnerFire Gatherer SelfCast CT_RaidAssist SheepWatch (clicking on the counter retargets my sheep) QuestLevels Reputation EquipCompare Atlas TitanPanel TitanPanel - Roll TitanPanel - Portals (because mages need 1000 hotkeys) TitanPanel - Item Bonuses TitanPanel - Name Toggle (so XXLeeroyJankersXX name isn't always in my face when I actually raid) PVP No Spam CooldownCount DamageMeters MobInfo-2 Range Recolor
I was also using MyBank and MyInventory, but the latest patch broke them. I'm using AllInOneInventory atm, and wiating for MyBags to be updated, and to work better.

May not be updated, but it still works if you load it up. At least it does for me. Before this thread all I ran was: Auctioneer Damage Meter DPScount CTRaid Assist Gatherer I've added: Scrolling Combat Text Enchantrix The Enchanter Sale add-on for Auctioneer Atlas CooldownCount - Can't get this one working right. I think I'm missing something. Titan Bar looks way too bloated for me. Anything that big gives me bad flashbacks to Cosmos and the way it kept reassigning my chat channels. The fucker.

You might have to enable cooldowncout with /cooldowncount enable. I like titans, lots of added features, but it's all hidden in a nifty little bar at the top.

I admit I like the way Titan looks. It's probably one of the best-looking UI mods I've seen. My complaint was about feature bloat. I've got precious little RAM, and no cheap way of remedying that. (Damn you Rambus.)

I tried to load up auctioneer, but "enhanced tooltips" is not updated for me and doesn't work. I had assumed I got that from the Auctioneer download, but maybe I'm wrong. The only other one I use is CTMod. Is it part of that d/l?

I've always wondered why Blizzard allows their UI to be so easily modified. It really puts you at a disadvantage if you're not using all kinds of mods and bots to help you play the damn game.
The only mods I really need are extra bars, gatherer, instance maps, and whatever mod displays text onscreen whenever you go in or out of combat.

Honestly, I think Benecast is a fantastic mod. It really just makes the healing more intuitive.
The one that feels like a cheat is Spell Alert. Being able to see exactly what spell they're casting, and whether or not it is purgable is a bit borderline.
Other than that, all the other ones are stuff that makes the game more fun for me. To each their own.

There are way too many mods out there that make me feel like the mod is playing the game instead of me. That's probably why I stick to simple stuff like CT_Mod, Auctioneer and Equipcompare. I used Gatherer until the latest version of CT_Mod, which adds the herbs I pick up to the big map.

Hrmm I had just upgraded everything and hadn't noticed CT_Mod tracking resources - does it tag the main map too?
I like how the bars are converging the little add-ons. I like even more how Blizz borrows ideas and puts them in the native interface. I'd quit WoW if I didn't have them - it's a different game without them. It was an enlightened business move when Blizz opened up the UI.

Yes. I still want to know how to get my auctioneer to work again. Mainly I like having the value of grey items so I know what to pick up and what to leave. It would be very nice to have now that I'm a newbie again on our pvp/rp server.

The thing is though, that most of the mods people like and use are the ones that change the appearence of things, or simplify certain tasks, rather then play the game for you. Adjustable Bars for example, allowing you to put your toolbars anywhere, in any configuration you want, or tooltip mods, that let you change the appearence, info and location of your tooltip. Personally, something like CastOptions (which is like SelfCast on steroids) or AutoBuff, dont really play the game for you, they just take some of the tedium out of things like having to re cast innerfire or Rockbiter every 5 minutes, or having to manually open your spellbook everytime you want to buff someone who is much lower level then you (CastOptions will dynamicly select the highest appropriate level buff to buff your target with). Hell, as a Mage I would KILL for a mod that let me target a person, and push a single button to summon the correct level of water/food for said person (All of our water/food have useless spell tooltips that dont tell you the level minimum needed to eat/drink the stuff untill AFTER you conjure it, so I generally summon at least one stack of too high/low water for someone level 34 when they ask for stuff before I get it right) Really, the only ones that come close to playing the game for you are things like Decursive (which blizzard has admitted to attempting to break at least once already) because it makes a given task (in this case, removing ANY debuff your class is capable of removing, from any member of your party/raid) much TOO simplified a task.

Anything Decursive can automate is just a subset of what ChatEventMonitor can do. Mods aren't game breaking unless you have a retarded concept of the game anyhow. WoW isn't a particularly shining example of a competitive envionment where the best combination of juvenile reflexes and motor coordination has the upper hand. People will kick your ass in PvP because they're better at the client skills, better at using a mouse, better at searching for mods, better at programming the client, better at hacking, have a better network connection, group with a better group of people (in any or other of the ways described), or just get lucky. To rile against people using mods because it may raise their level of PvP abilities while you consider yours 'pure' just makes you appear stupid. You're deluded if you think "player skill" is ever measured alone by any competitive MMOG. One of my favorite mods is in some respects a PvP oriented mod - it's called Hunter Stun Helper and it just graphically shows how much time is remaining on one of my concussion shots, wing clips or freezing traps. This helps me time when to jump and shoot while getting range.

If a mod that does anything beyond "cosmetic changes" is "neccessary", then the game has a problem.

I'm not so concerned about the "purity" of my actions, as I am the feeling that some of these mods just remove the player from the equation about as completely as can be done. They are like the ultimate Diku-zation; who needs a player to push the button, when you can just automate the "DING! GRATZ!"

I have only used a hunter mod, was curious as to some good tradeskill mods. I would like a fishing mod that would keep me buffed with lures and allways shift/click when I click the bobber. Plus are bots and macro's that rampart in WoW? I remember setting up EZ macro or just putting a book on a key to skill up in UO, and setting up some pretty intense macro's in AC...but WoW doesn't seem to need that much macro's or bots...

Plus are bots and macro's that rampart in WoW? Not sure what you mean by macros - WoW has built-in macro support that some mods use to great effect. But yes botting has been a huge problem. Not surprisingly they are often written and sold by organizations that in one way or another are involved in reselling virtual assets. Level bots are still being used to make L60 rogues from scracth in just a few days. There are bots for fishing, grinding faction, you name it. It's not much different than the early UO days. Just that the tools are more sophisticated and easier to use by non-techies.

The guy who wrote Benecast pretty much abandoned the addon. Use Benecast-k. It's labeled as a multi-language version, but it's still being updated and maintained.
