This was in the news recently- apparently the mechanism has been in place since 1996. Gonna save me a ton of time shredding pre-approved credit card offers!

Opt Out.

Yeah, I hit that as soon as I saw it.  Now if only I could do the same for all ad mail.

I have a hard time entering my SSN into any website so I will keep shredding.

Joy!

I swear, I get more Pre-Approved credit card offers than I can shake a stick at. I keep thinking, "If these pigfuckers really knew who they were sending these things too, they'd run screaming for the hills and fire their database guys."

No, sending them to people with bad credit is part of the strategy.  That's why they pushed for the new bankrupcy laws making it difficult if not impossible to expunge yourself of overextended credit.  It means they're guaranteed to get your money, while bumping you up into the 25%+ interest rate because you violated your credit agreement by being late with even a single payment.  Stupid people will gladly sign-up for all these cards without thinking the consequences through.  Hell, the worse my rating gets due to ownership of long-term agreements like Cars, the more offers I get for credit.

And yet, loansharking is against the law. Nice work government.

Only because they can't tax it properly, and Sharks don't have enough lobbists to grease the wheels otherwise.

Shit, usury is against the law, but have you seen the legal agreements on sleaze merchants like cash 4 title loans, payday check advances adn high-interest "just because" loans?

I can see why the Muslim religion defines paying interest as a sin.

The Muslim religion is actually pretty interesting when it comes to their beliefs in trade.

Less so with the killing of the infidels and whatnot.

These fuckers pray on military people.  I pray every single one is firebombed one day.  I have had to help more than one junior enlisted person due to them using one of these.  For real, my disgust for these institutions knows no bounds.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.
