I haven't heard Justice League cancellation rumors. But yeah, they haven't had a new episode in quite a while. That would be a goddamn shame, since they were just getting to the Legion of Doom stuff.
Anime should be fucked in its tiny little asshole. I'm dead sick of anime, especially on Cartoon Network.
Also, is there supposed to be any goddamn sense in Perfect Hair Forever? I swear I lost brain cells watching that shit.

There's a lot of good anime. The problem is that it started at the top (Cowboy Bebop) and where can you go from there? I've yet to see a single cartoon from anywhere better than Cowboy Bebop. Including the Ghibli stuff (which I ). There's a lot of other anime worth bringing to America, but it'll just get butchered. I agree though, take anime off the air so people who don't like it will stop bitching and teeny boppers will stop running around wearing branded clothing with shit anime on it.

There was good anime. Now its all flashy creepy stuff for people who lust after cartoon teenagers. Back in the VHS days I bought over 200 anime tapes, most at a discount. (Yay comic shop selling rental copies or planned to be rental copies!) In the DVD days? Im maybe at 50. And thats counting full sets like G Gundam, Gundam Wing (shut up I like it), and Ghibli stuff. But for every Azumanga Diaoh there are 20 harem anime wankfests or some yaoi overload show for fat lonely fangirls. Since the harem anime is for the lonely fanboys. The guys get maid armies jerking off the main character, the girls get guys shoving corncobs up each other's asses. And im not joking. Those are ACTUAL SCENES IN ANIME SHOWS.
We need more mecha I think. And actual mecha shows not the wankfest Evangelion turned out to be. I would say Raxephon was good, but it wasn't really a mecha show. And I am like the only person who gives a fuck about Patlabor in the entire USA apparently. What? A show with generally ANGST FREE ADULTS piloting the mecha? In ACTUAL CLOTHES? And the main female character at best is a b cup? BLASPHEMY.
And people wonder why I want to stab the current generation of anime fans in the face. Because they want shit instead of anything actually good.

For every type of every show there's 20 shitty wankfests. What's your point?

We need more mecha I think. And actual mecha shows not the wankfest Evangelion turned out to be. Believe it or not, the Zone of the Enders: Dolores anime was pretty good. It was a straightforward adventure serial without a hint of EVA-style pretension. The lead character was neither an emo prettyboy nor an improbably endowed junior high girl - it was a 40-something alcoholic space trucker, trying to learn how to talk to his (grown) kids by reading a pop-psychology text. The whole series (plus the Idolo prequel OVA) is now available in a cheap box set. I highly recommend it. It's honestly the best mecha show I've seen in the last three years.

On Boondocks...
I saw a few episodes, and I just didn't find it to be funny, or entertaining.
There's been a lot of shit on Cartoon Network as of late. I can't even watch it anymore.

I had trouble with Dolores. I have trouble with mecha altogether. They just annoy me. I liked season 1 of Full Metal Panic though. I can't think of another anime I liked that had robots in it. Oh, wait, I think two episodes of Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai did. That might count.

I really think the Boondocks is one of the best damn things I've ever seen. At least a few times per show I get a really good, strong, loud laugh. I just cracked up at a commercial for this week's episode. I'd explain it, but text wouldn't be able to convey the proper timing to really explain why I nearly fell out of my chair laughing.
I'm increasingly happy Adult Swim picked this show up. Between all the Tom Goes To The Mayors and 12 Oz. Mice, they haven't completely forgotten what's funny.
Saw a couple of episodes last night and it's sweeeeeeeeeeet. There even was an episode with Samuel Jackson in it. He was the voice of the friend of the dude that was to Iraq. Awesome. "I always say that absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence" "ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER, DO YOU SPEAK IT?". Always cracks me up. On BSG: is it just me or the writting this season is a lot better than the first one? Or may be it's because of that awesome cliff hanger. Anyway I like it a lot better now than I did last year. There's a lot of good anime. The problem is that it started at the top (Cowboy Bebop) and where can you go from there? I have to agree with you Schild. Cowboy Bebop was one of the first animes I ever saw and I still haven't seen anything better. It's just too good :)

There's a lot of good anime. The problem is that it started at the top (Cowboy Bebop) and where can you go from there? I started with Robotech (OLD SKOOL BITCHES!) and really, not much has improved since then. Bebop and the original Ghost in the Shell were good, Akira had its moments and I've yet to see an anime made in the last 5 years that was worth the paper it was drawn on. I don't dislike anime, I just dislike most of what anmie fans here (and Cartoon Network execs) seem to like. Patlabor was decent from what I remember.

I started with Robotech (OLD SKOOL BITCHES!) Yeah, that was the gateway drug for me too. Nothing stuns a 12 year-old like seeing people die in a cartoon. I didn't start watching anime again for many years, though; a friend made me watch Akira later in high school, and I absolutely loathed it. Still do. For me, it still holds up as a paradigm of how the genre can suck - shiny, violent, poorly written garbage that thinks it's much deeper than it is. Like an emo kid with a switchblade and a nervous tic. I've seen decent stuff in the last five years, but it tends to get lost in the noise. We're oversaturated. The shelves are stacked with garbage. I'm back to spending $300-$400 a month on anime, and there's very little now that I'd rate over three stars. The last great series I saw was Gunslinger Girl. Before that, Infinite Ryvius and Someday's Dreamers - which came out two years previous. EDIT: Just started Koi Kaze, which is very good so far, but I've only seen 1/3 of it.

I really like Full Metal Alchemist.
And, of course, Cowboy Bebop, but I own the whole series and know it backwards and forwards so I can't really watch it anymore.
Aside from that, no thanks. Naruto sucks. Sorry people, maybe if there were about 1/5 as many episodes as there are it'd be a good show, but it's just awful as it is.

A friend is making me watch it, but it's like 20000000 episodes... and the only other anime that long was already mentioned and it sucked :P

Yea, I had to stop watching Naruto. The manga moved much faster.
As for you Haemcow, I suggest you rent some Ghibli stuff (Spirited Away, etc). Though I'd still recommend Jungle Wa Itsumo to anyone. That shit kills me.
Samurai Champloo was a smelly piece of shit.

If it has marionettes in it, I don't think you are watching BSG. The one I am watching is awesome. The opening was altered a bit at first, but now it is back to normal. The first two episodes were so tightly executed that I didn't mind the deus ex machina at all. My only possible complaint is that they could have used some more battle footage and less shirtless Lee Adama, but YMMV. I have gotten one episode of Boondocks in, the Dr. King episode, and it was funny, solid and enjoyable. Not at all what I expected on Adult Swim. I think Witherspoon is awesome in general, too.

Boondocks, high-larious. This is some of the best social criticism of America I've ever seen. The fact that it cracks me up hard at least twice per episode is an added bonus. Riley's character alone puts a smile on my face almost every time, then I start to feel really bad when sometimes I think there are probably very few African Americans watching this show.
BSG fucking Friday is the stupidest day ever to put new episodes. Fuck them for that. I managed to miss the re-run last night (fuck!) but I think they do it again on Thursday or something. Fuckers. Oh and nothing about the Pegasus has been done "well" that was a shitty hamhanded way to move the plot and I for one was not very happy with it. I'd rip into it more but like I said I haven't seen last week's ep and we're just getting going with season2.
Anime, while I will mourn the loss of Teen Titans more then anyone, god I fucking loved that show there is some good anime out there.
Full Metal Panic is fucking brilliant if you dont laugh at that show you are broken, or old.
RahXephon is a good one, so much better then EVA on so many levels. It is very anime though so I'm not sure it is a great choice for american audiences.
GITS:SAC is just fucking great, I really challenge anyone who doesn't think it is great to explain. It does everything the movies do wrong right, an all around great product.
I'd like to see them play Elfen Lied, because that show is a really twisted/sad/ugly/good/stupid/weird show. You dont get enough of that level of mind-fuck in America.
Anyways I could talk anime for awhile but this isn't really the place for that. It is definitely true though there are tons of really really bad anime.
The same way there are 20 12oz mice for every AQHF. Hell there are <insert number here> MMO's and none of them are any good. We should be used to this by now.

I think it's okay. It's a genre that's fairly rare - a science fiction police procedural. It aggrevates me for two diametrically opposed reasons: 1) It doesn't always explain its technological assumptions. It assumes you've always followed GitS, and don't need to be told what a ghost is, how braincases work, etc. I haven't seen or read any of GitS. Never been much for cyberpunk, and that's a barrier to entry. 2) When they do explain things, they throw the writerly mantra of "show, don't tell" right out the freaking window. It seems like every other episode there's a 60-120 second montage of cars driving by while someone drones exposition in a voice over.

Naruto reminded me of Dragonball Z if DBZ had been drawn by an accomplished artist. Other than that, it was total fucking shit. They spent 30 fucking minutes in one epsiode talking about fighting. TALKING ABOUT FIGHTING, while posing as if the Rock of fucking Gibralter was getting passed through their anuses. It was like watching an Internet message board discussion given ghey anime form. I DO NOT GET IT. THIS IS NOT STORYTELLING, IT'S WHACKABATION. STOP IT, ASSTARDS. Also, after your recommendation of Colorful, I'm not sure I could watch any anime you recommend to me. Especially Jungle Wa Itsumo, after watching just pieces of one episode. The only complaint about the Pegasus segment of the latest BSG was the sort of "too pat" ending for the last episode.

As Far as Anime goes, I have to say that I loathe most of it.
Stuff I like: Cowboy Bepop, GitS (all iterations), Witch Hunter Robin, Full Metal Alchemist (It took me awhile to like this one), FLCL, Trigun, Lupin the 3rd, Princess Mononoke, Read or Die.
Other than that, I'm really picky about what I can really stand to watch. I just find a lot of it to be very, very stupid.

Yeah there is a ton of stupid shit in anime, hell almost all of it is either those fucking sweat drop things (god damn I hate that shit) or some iteration of fanservice. I mean there are a ton of decent shows just ruined by one of those two things. I think I'd like to bring the Boondocks to Japan see what the kids over there think, I wonder if they would get it.
Oh FCLC is fucking le brilliant good call there.
