People like the Stargate shows? I think they are both unwatchable. Pure tripe.
BSG is ok, but it can be really slow at times.

So far I've found the new Ori storyline interesting on SG-1. I do miss Parker Lewis, though.

LOST is losing me. It used to be about turning everything off and watching it. Now, it's barely paying attention until the final scene because the rest is basically useless crap. And I agree with TWOP, they need to play CCR's "Run through the Jungle" at least once in the show. The scenary demands it.

Lost is getting bogged down in re-hashing the back story repeatedly. Stargate and Farscape make my skin crawl with a hate reserved only for low budget badly-written sci-fi. Fucking muppets.
Just admit you don't like Sci-Fi, and move on. No shame in that. :-D

SG-1...well, it's in an interesting phase.
They should just change the theme song to TMBG's "Stalk of Wheat".

Arrested Development in troubleIf and when they cancel this show, I may be forced to go on a shooting spree at Fox. When utter shit like Survivor can be a top 10 show, but something as original and hilarious as AD is ignored by the utterly retarded American Public, it is time for a cleansing. Maybe the bird flu will kill stupid people first.

Now if I'd had the ability to pay a small fee ($1 or so) to download the episode and watch it the day after, I'd be a loyal viewer. Crotchpheasants.

I can't believe you have never watched it! It is fucking hysterical. You really don't need to know the backstory to enjoy it, but your enjoyment will increase as you get to know the characters for sure. Netflix the first 2 seasons ASAFP.

That is the dumbest boat ever. Continuity exists so as to make the jokes funnier; the characters are definitely not growing as people. Netflix. I miss episodes all the time, yet I can come in halfway through a show and piss my pants.

I bought the Arrested Development season 1 box and ended up returning it. The jokes were too far and inbetween and were built on awkwardness. And they don't do awkwardness as well as Curb Your Enthusiasm. I suggest you watch Seinfeld. Again. Season 5 & 6 box comes with a puffy shirt.

Lost lost me about 15 episodes into the first season. They had to figure out how to drag the time on the island out permanently and the pace died in a matter of episodes. Poor JJ Abrams. In Japan he could do these wonderful 13-17 episode seasons and never have to come up with bullshit to keep a series going.

While I don't see how anyone could think AD is not funny, I can see how it's in trouble. The jokes come a bit too fast this season, and for some people who aren't with the characters it may get a bit boring.
As for Lost, I've found myself watching it out of habit more than enjoyment the last couple episodes. But Alias did the same thing and I still finished the last 3 seasons (yeech).

I told you guys Lost was going to suck. Why didn't you believe the all-knowing Margalis?
Interesting premise that lets your imagination run wild. But similar to The Matrix, what you imagine is invariably better than what you actually get. Same reason the character creation is the best part of some MMORPGs. It's so cool to imagine this awesome character you are making going out on all sorts of rad adventures - then you start playing and have to kill 200 Rabid Raccoons.
Plus Alias sucks. So I had low hopes for Lost. A bunch of boring flashbacks intermingled with no actual forward progress in the story other than "tune in next week where X predictable character bites the dust!"

Don't get me wrong. I love Lost. I love the pacing of it too. Nice and slow, let it unfold at it's own thing. Just recently though, been a bit tedious in the story (hated the whole bunker thingy once it opened). I actually love the flashbacks. Alias does suck though.

AD is too subtle for the masses. It's also struggling because it's innovative, but completely bizarre. This marks doom for a show even if critical acclaim is good. Plus, it's on FOX.

I don't think it did, but I could be wrong, being that I just TIVO it. It had, however, been interupted for 3 consecutive weeks because of the baseball playoffs. This helped kill another Fox show you might have heard of: Firefly.

I think AD is on Monday nights, up against either Monday Night Football or Surface. Not really sure. Either way, it's a bad place for comedy.
If you aren't watching My Name is Earl and The Office on Tuesday nights, you should be. That's some funny shit.

AD is on Monday nights at 8:00, up against Surface. However, they're doing the "on this week, not next week or the week after" shuffle, so of course the ratings are shitty. Nobody knows when it's going to be on the air.. and it only gets ads on Sunday during football. As has been mentioned before, someone at Fox must have a grudge against Ron Howard.

They need more room for NASCAR and reality shows. Anything that doesn't involve shiny colors or people eating bugs is too cerebral.

Watch that excrement "Wife Swap" or "Trading Spouses" if you really want to be pushed into painting dotted lines on your wrists. And if you want to weep for future generations (and the fuckups their parents foist on them), watch "Nanny 911" or "Super Nanny." Bonus points if you watch it with a bottle of Scotch and a handful of valium.

Just caught the Rome finale. Next season will start in 2007, which is a great move timeline/plot wise. Gives the actor playing Octavian (who's great in that part) time to mature and actually play the role.
Good finale to a good show. The Brutus character is a whiney bitch, but that's a good character-type for what he accomplishes: removing Julius and opening the floodgates to Civil War.
Pullo and Verenus are great. The actor that plays Verenus has a couple movies in production, including a sequal to "Dog Soldiers", so I can see why the extended hiatus is needed.
I agree with what someone else said.... expect to see Pullo and Verenus spearheading the pro-Octavian faction. And I'm sure with his wife's suicide, Verenus will be out massacring people left and right.
I still think that the death of Julius was rushed timeline wise, but not terribly so. Seville is going to be in a world of pain....

I have to admit that Romes's finale blew me away. The handling of Ceasar's death was well done, and they got around the whole questions of how he'd say his final words - but just not having him say anything. What really got me though was the juxposition of how things ended up for Pullo and Verenus. Not what one would have expected loking at things a couple of episodes ago.
I can't fucking believe that I didn't notice Kevin McKidd had been in Dog Soldiers.

That's not in my tea leaves (or more appropriately for this series; bird guts). Remember when Vorenus made that little oath to Mark Antony? Well, Vorenus seems like a man of his word to me. And I can see Pullo easily falling in with Octavian. That shouldn't matter too much confrontation-wise until Octavion and Antony kill off Cicero (and just so you know, in RL Mark Antony actually did nail Cicero's hands to the senate door), Brutus, and Cassius. Then it'll be time to settle who's master of Rome once all the conspirators are done away with. Oh, and Servillia? You have no conception of whom you have fucked with.

I was half expecting Octavian to lean over and cut her throat, then drily explain how he was going to wipe every trace of her and her family off the face of the earth. The Octavian character is amazing. Hmm, I'm blanking on the Verenus/Antony oath. Was that the episode when Verenus flirted with crime, then came crawling back to Antony to take up the job as Prefect? Missed a couple episodes, including the second to last with the arena. Watched the Sopranos right before Rome, the episode where they kill Adriana. Man.... I forgot both how great and how smart that show can be. Looking forward to the sixth season in March.

Well, sounds like a second season of Rome is up in the air. Story from the Fat Man's website. http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=21897Basically, not doing as well in the UK. And the first season cost $100 million to make. Some worry about having a 2 year hiatus between seasons. The rumor is a rush DVD release to see how the numbers are.... Honestly, I like the show, but I could understand why HBO would get cold feet if their major financial backer might pull out. The cost of producing Rome would probably eat up most of their original material budget.

Yeah, but they've also got all of the sets already built, which is where the big cost comes from. It just seems like it would be a waste to shitcan the whole thing now.
