Has the "hill" gotten any more fun yet?
As for the movie....Y'know, this doesn't look like a superhero flick at all. Not that that's a bad thing, but it looks so much more down to earth than what I've come to expect. It's looks like a slightly fantastical version of "Patriot Games"...or something.
I've been spoiled by Sin City. That showed what can be done with Frank Miller's work. I hope this is just as good.

Having watched all the trailers and the hype, I am still amazed to find that Batman may yet make a movie comeback after 'nipples' Schumacher finished him off.
The trailers make the film look great.
Though Episode III will still suck.

Yeah, this looks like the kind of Batman movie that SHOULD have been made all along. Christian Bale is a perfect choice for both Batman and Bruce Wayne.

I like the Batmobile as a bad-ass humvee/dunebuggy/tank hybrid better than that dayglow, winged nightmare it became too.

It's cool, I guess. But then again, "humvee/tune buggy/tank hybrid" is the last thing that comes to mind when I think of "Batmobile".
I don't want "campy" either, but I think the direction they're taking here, from the batmobile down to the gotham city skyline, looks a little too "normal" and "realistic" for it's own good. It doesn't seem very stylized at all.

It was ALWAYS a "dayglow winged nightmare".The comic gawds save us from hummers, the most pathetic excuse for masculinity since the ladies pink stiletto shoebox.

Meh, I'm not interested in comic orthodoxy. I'm interested in cool shit and splosions.

Well, so far nothing has induced the laughter that seeing Superman in costume has caused, so I guess thats a good sign, and I'm looking forward to Batman Begins a lot more than Fantastic Four. Overall I'm expecting Batman to be ok, Episode III to have about 30-40 minutes worth watching, Fantastic Four to be somewhat better than Hulk and Daredevil, and War of the Worlds to be a good movie that I'll still have no interest in seeing.

Watching Christopher Walken phone in a bit part that still dances verbal circles around Owen Wilson could be amusing. Does the guy just kind of ram his head into the camera until the director goes, "Fuck it! Thats good enough." or what?

I don't watch the sci-fi network.
Most sci-fi believes it has to be campy and if there's one thing I hate, it's camp. It's why I can't tolerate Whedon either - well, Angel was tolerable.

Watch the first three seasons of Buffy on DVD, then pretend seasons 4-7 never existed.

I'd recommend almost the complete opposite. I thought season 1 was mediocre, trying too hard to be a witty teen drama. Season 2, still getting into the swing. Season 3, gold. 4, gold. 5, good but Glory was a crappy villain. 6, gold. 7 I still haven't seen in its entirety, so I can't say for sure.
Season 4 includes "Hush", does it not?

I forgot to mention Hush- that's watchworthy. I just could never shake the feeling that it all went downhill after The Mayor. Seasons 4-6 just seemed to be an angsty pity-party for the entire cast. 7 took a bit of a lighter tone (in terms of the self-flagellation) but I really thought they should have gotten back to basics instead of going for the ultra-mega-super transuniversal villain (ie, vamp out one of her friends and have THEM be the villain, or vamp Buffy herself and have the Scoobies fight her). I didn't like the last episode, either. Watch the last episode of Angel...now THAT's a way to fucking go out.

1 was ok, though not really recognisable as 2-7 buffy.
2 should have been great and would have been if the angel melodrama wan't so horrible. Buffy : good character. Angel : good character. Angel + Buffy in one room : tiresome.
3 was great, the whole faith thing worked really well, Xander vs Cordelia, The Zeppo episode, Helpless, Evil Willow Vampire, the Homecoming, all great.
4 was crap. Except Hush. And occaisional Spike moments.
5 had some solid episodes, but suffered from Glory being dull, Tara contuing to be non-descript and irrelevant, and Dawn being a waste of screen space.
6 was the first time the writers finally seemed comfortable away from the high school. Best season of the lot imo, knew it was back on form straight from the 'Kitten Poker' scene. Tara leaves the series thank God, Evil Willow (and the whole addiction arc), Giles being more of a badass, the musical epsiode, and they use 'looking after Dawn' pretty well as the 'real life' that Buffy also has to manage (something missing from 4&5).
7 had a decent finale, but probably labours too much under knowing it is the last series, but pretty good nonetheless.

Here's how I look at Buffy:
I'd rather watch Smallville. If that can't be had, I'd rather watch reruns of X-Files.
Frankly, I'm surprised Buffy got anywhere near the following it ended with. The show was entirely too uneven (as shown by all of your comments), the characters didn't mesh, and once again it has Whedon's stain of procrastination in terms of plot progression. What they did in 7 seasons is accomplished by most creators in 3-4 seasons, or in the case of JJ Abrams or Aaron Sorkin, 1-2 seasons.
Much like a 5-10 hour game like God of War will have an altogether more polished feel than a 40 hour RPG, Whedon's stories fall to the same fate as the latter. Unfortunately, we'll never know if he learned something while making Firefly, though that was moving terribly slow as well.
I don't really have any specific Whedon hate other than I don't understand why so many like him. People that inconsistant don't deserve my weekly television time. I'm a gamer, I have to be picky with my TV.

When Buffy started, there was no Smallville, and I can't see how you're going to talk about a show being uneven right after you bring up Smallville and X-files. Like most shows Buffy had it's high and low points. It's main failing to me though is that there are very few episodes I'd want to watch a second time. I got the first season of Buffy and Angel on DVD last year from Amazon when it was on sale dirt cheap, but really I'd rather get a Best Of box set like I did with Highlander the series. Some of the episodes with Angelus in seasons 2, Hush, and Once More With Feeling (the musical episode), and the puppet episode of Angel (written by Tick creator Ben Edlund) are all as good as anything I've ever seen to a TV show, and I think thats why a lot of people really like Whedon. I'm not going to say Whedon's the greatest writer ever, but damn, other than Morrison the guys written the only X-men comics worth reading since the 80's. Maybe you like him better if he was doing British TV series or something where the seasons are only a half-dozen episodes long or so.

The low points on Buffy hurt more than the low points on X-Files and Smallville. And I know Smallville came out long, long after Buffy.
That said, Highlander? Season 4 and 5 are arguably the greatest TV ever made.

I think the first season of Highlander is the only one I don't like too much. There are just very few episodes I like watching more than once and just about all of them are on the Best Of set. You've got the the evil Macleod episodes, the four horseman ones, and a lot of other good ones.

Season 4 and 5 are those 2 arcs. Unfortuantely they consist of nearly a full seasons worth of material together. I didn't even watch Highlander when it was on TV and picked up the boxes on a whim. I was not upset. However, I didn't watch Buffy on TV either, but rather picked up a dvd box on my friends recommendation. I'm still pissy about it.

Well there's definately a lot of filler episodes in Buffy and Angel. I could probalby cut down 7 seasons of Buffy to about two box sets worth watching. Now if the day ever comes where you can legally download TV episodes (since I know you aren't big on the piracy thing), I could give you a list of the ones worth watching.

The two box sets I'd recommend would be Season 3 for one set, and for the other Hush and Lesbian Vampire Willow's episode repeated 19 times. Easy!
