Dr. Cruise on medication.

Seriously, someone needs to but this cockholster in his place. With any luck, that will be in the SAG unemployment line, so I don't have to see his freaky misshapen grin EVER AGAIN.

Brooke Shields calls Cruise’s comments “dangerous”

Posted May 31, 2005, 9:14 AM ET by Beth Hoyt

Brooke Shields is now speaking out in response to Tom Cruise’s comments about her use of anti-depressants to treat post-partum depression. Cruise told the TV show Access Hollywood that Shields’ use of medication is dangerous, and damaging to her career. He said that he believes vitamins are the answer, not drugs.

Brooke Shields has responded by saying “Tom Cruise’s comments are irresponsible and dangerous. Tom should stick to saving the world from aliens and let women who are experiencing postpartum depression decide what treatment options are best for them.” Shields was referring to Cruise’s upcoming alien movie, War of the Worlds, and not his belief in the teachings of Scientology. As Cruise has publicly mentioned, scientologists are opposed to taking drugs for psychiatric problems and believe high doses of vitamins and minerals are a better cure.

You just hate her because she's a rich, powerful black woman, don't you? (I'm supposed to do the thing with my neck when I say that) kidding

Oprah is scary and annoying, but highly philanthropic. And I gotta give her props for being the richest woman of color in the world, because she's self-made.

Self-made? No. Wrong.

No one on TV is self-made. It's all the trash that watch her that made her. All the clueless fuckwits who read her book club shit. She used to be nothing more than the black female Jerry Springer.

She's so far from self-made, I'm surprised she doesn't freak out when she looks in the mirror in the morning.

Edit: Forgot to mention Michael Jackson. He was her bridge from somewhat celebrity to absolute media domination. Stomach surgery helped too.

Who is self-made then? To be rich, people have to buy your shit, watch your shit, or read your shit. Unless you literally crap gold nuggets, your vision of self-made is pretty narrow.

Ok, let me make it a little clearer. She had a team of people MAKING HER 24/7 for more than a decade. I'd wager she did very little on her own and managed to land a celebrity interview when all her peers were still watching white trash argue.

By self-made I mean she didn't have any coattails to ride, no one to pay her tuition, no rich husband, etc. She wasn't born into money. She made her own career, and her career made her rich. She started out as a news anchor. Just because she went into tv instead of programming or business or whatever doesn't diminish her achievement.

I disagree with what you've said. And I'd get into it, but it's not worth it. Not everything on the cover of Cosmo is the real deal.

Let's just say, no one makes their own TV career. There are very smart people who do it very formulaically. She is by no means a receiver of divine luck.

I don't wanna get into either.

But if I'm the one who figures out whose dick I have to suck to get what I want, and then I suck that dick, and I get what I want, did I really rely on someone else for the hookup? Or do I deserve what I get (what I want). Politicking is a part of every profession.

Agreed. Self-made doesn't mean that everyone respects how you made it, just that you started with nothing and worked for it. No one has massive success totally unaided. That is a ridiculous test that would mean only lottery winners are "self-made" which is ludicrous.

So hows about you guys meet half way?  Why don't we all agree that Oprah is self-made in the most pointless and unconstructive way possible, having built an empire of books and television on the most base of human emotions, contributing nothing to society except a few hours each week in which her poorly educated and unwashed masses are too busy absorbing her to bother the rest of us...

Wait, come to think of it, thats actually quite an acomplishment.

It would probably be giving Brooke to much credit to think that she was alluding to Scientology but it's a MUCH better slam if she was.

The question is though, did the article's editors throw that in just to avoid a hassle from the Church?

Oprah donates hundreds of thousands of dollars to charities. Good charities, too, like private education for at-risk youth and the like (which means getting street kids, gang kids, kids in abusive homes, etc. into schools that separate them from the risk factors and give them individual attention). I have nothing but respect for that (except the part where she broadcasts it on her show).

Scientology censor Tom Cruise

Scientology censor Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise has banned girlfriend Katie Holmes from starring in a new film featuring drug use - because it offends Scientologists.

The Hollywood heavyweight has allegedly told the brunette beauty she cannot appear in 'Factory Girl' - which documents the life of drug-addicted Andy Warhol protege Edie Sedgwick - because he is opposed to any form of drug taking, whether fictional or real, as a follower of the bizarre cult.

A movie insider told America's New York Post newspaper: "Edie was in and out of mental institutions and on all sorts of psychotropic drugs.

"Tom doesn't believe in those drugs because of Scientology"

Cruise, who has been dating the former 'Dawson's Creek' beauty since last month, is also said to have stopped Katie, 26, from taking the role because it would involve her playing a victim.

Another source said: "Tom didn't want her to take the role because it portrayed her as a victim and he said she should only take strong roles".

Funny, because in Minority Report, Cruise played Anderton as a drug addict, a detail which was not in the original story by Philip K. Dick.  More proof that one of the unwritten tenets of scientology is hypocracy.

Yeah I thought about that as well. He was a drug addict in that, but not on psych meds. Perhaps that's how he rationalizes his BS. That, and wiping his tears with hundreds.

Ya know Tom, I don't think absorbing your BS is a 'strong role' for Katie.  Pounding you with a strap on might count though...

War of the Worlds looks like it might be good tho.

Seems to have stuck to the book, at least thematically and whatnot.

There's really not much reason to whale on Mr Cruise anyways - So his religion is nuts.  Isn't everyone's ?  (and yeah, I include mine).

WHAT'S going on with Katie Holmes? Tom Cruise seems to be exerting ever more control over his sweetie/ fiancée's career. Holmes, who has been spending a lot of time at the Scientology Center in L.A., showed up at the junket for "Batman Begins" at the Regent Beverly Wilshire with "an entourage of Scientologists in tow," said our spy. "At lunch, Tom came and after he left, his sister [and publicist] Lee Anne Devette sat in on all of [Holmes'] interviews. The producers and Warner Bros. are freaking out. They are worried Tom's bad p.r. is going to rub off." Holmes own p.r. man was also at the interviews, but Devette had "control. It's getting weird." Neither Devette or Holmes' rep returned calls. A rep for Warner Bros. declined comment.
