First trailer of the Firefly movie, Serenity.

I'm thinking, yes, this will be good.

Looks good, hopefully there's more 'funny' in the movie than in the trailer. One of the reasons I liked Firefly so much is because of the witty and funny dialog.

.......

That looks reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeallly good.  They're overplaying Whedon a bit, but goddamn that thing looks spectacular.

The subtle humor was there, but it's hard to advertise witty dialog in a preview without alienating some of the people you're trying to woo in with "ASSKICKING" and "SHINEY" and "OMG SPACESHIPS WIFF GUNNZZ".

This is bad though.  It's fueling my irrational dreams that if this does really well, they'll bring back the series.  Would never happen, but it's nice to dream.

Not to add fuel to your fire (so to speak) but if the movie really does do very well, then Universal would be stupid NOT to bring back the tv show.  Money making at its best...the problem is, this has a big movie budget associated with it...you go to TV, and the production costs get reigned in, and the series may then disappoint the 1337 d00dz that like the shiny and not the characters (which is what makes the show truly great IMO).

A bit.  I'm still disturbed that we're discussing something on this forum and nobody's crapped on it yet.  After last week's Enterprise I'm starting to worry that I've slipped into a parallel universe in which F13 posters are hopeful and encouraging.

I was an avid Buffy and Angel fan, but only got to see one episode of Firefly (Friday Nights are a bad timeslot, mmmkay?). I would definitely check this out.

Is there a version that doesn't require an installation of that itunes garbage? I like Firefly but only a stupid asshole would let itunes be installed on their machine. Also, Quicktime is for assholes as well and studios who only put out trailers in QT deserve it when I pirate their films and give them away to everyone at work for free.

Well, you should rent the whole series on Netflix first. Then tell us you don't love it (and if you do, we'll set you on fire and throw you into a tar pit). Or just buy it, you know you want to. Everyone's doing it. It must not be that bad. Come on..

They over stated Wheldon in it IMO. And most people seeing the bit with the butt kicking will just assume it's got something to do WITH Buffy because part of the trailer looked like it was buffy the vampire slayer of some sort.

I hope to hell its a good movie, and makes billions.

I think it only requires fucking itunes when you try to do full-screen. The large version didn't prompt me for that shit. And yes, fuck Apple for taking a good thing (Quicktime) and melding it with a not-so-good proprietary thing (itunes). However, I prefer QT for movie trailers, because I've always found Real player to be a steaming pile of monkey shit, and Windows Media Player is just as likely to NOT work when streaming as it is to work.

Not to mention all the extra bullshit Real player installs along with the player itself, and it's a fucking fungus trying to get rid of the thing.  It's virtually impossible to stop the auto-update process from dying as it reinstalls the registry crap every time you use the player...

You are correct. Large worked perfectly fine. The one thing that really stood out other than super-Buffyish H-to-H combat and TV quality production vaules was the complete absense of The Preacher. The plot of the movie better be them going to rescue The Preacher and discovering his real identity and whatnot or I'll be pissed. The biggest tease the entire show was The Preacher's past/real identity and they better clear it up in case this is the one wad they have to blow.

Everything looked great.  Enjoyed the teaser dialogue and the look they are presenting.  The ship to ship battle reminded me of pirate naval battles... And I mean canon and sail naval battles...

Just checked IMDB - Ron Glass is listed in the main credits, so its probably just an oversight in the trailer.

If you can figure out the exact URL to the full-screen version, like I posted in the Batman Begins thread, you can bypass all that iTunes crap.

Ok, so I saw the movie last night with a bunch of brown-coat wearing fanboi's at the AMC in Highland Hills (here in Colorado).

Now, I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I'm just going to make a few comments:

 It's good.
It's mostly about River, though you can see that from the trailer.
Character interactions seem a bit different than I remember, but I haven't been able to place exactly where the movie takes place in the TV Series ..
Does anyone remember what episode Sheppard Book stops showing up in? Anyways, he's in the movie but doesn't travel with them.
I think the bad guy made a good villain, well played.
 More stuff about Reavers.

Hmm, what else do you want to know? :)

It's my understanding that he was contractually obligated to some other things during the filming of the movie and so wasn't able to be featured as much as Joss wanted him to be.
