http://www.thottbot.com/?i=11272

Quick rundown on my character.  52 arcane/fire mage, gnomish engineer- on Archimonde.  I always wear this Helmet, the Gnomish Death Ray, and the Gnomish Net-o-matic.

Perhaps this board will believe me when I extol the virtues of my engineering pvp setup, because I can't seem to convince anyone even in my guild how godly this setup is.  The Goblin Rocket Helmet is the best pvp item in the game, and as I said in the tradeskill thread, it really should be a BOP epic item ultrarare drop instead of a relatively easy engineering item to make.

For my fellow mages, here is how the 1v1 fight template goes when I get jumped (we all know that mages who jump someone else, like most classes, usually win):

1.  I get jumped with little health or mana.  I hit the enemy with the Helmet.  If I'm dealing with a hunter or warlock, I use the sheep/Helmet combo between them.

2.  Bandage/Evocate to full health and mana- the Helmet is the one 30 second PvP lockdown skill left in the entire game.

3.  Hit Presence of Mind, Arcane Power, Mana Shield.

4.  Activate Gnomish Death Ray from close range.  Usually about 800 damage.

5.  Throw PoM Pyro and Fireblast and CoC.  This is about 1800 damage with AP on.

6.  1-2 more spells to kill almost anybody who isn't already dead, except warriors and paladins- you have to play with them for another 3 or 4 spells.  If your death ray critted, everyone except the most stam heavy warrior is dead already.

The point is that the Engineering Arcane/fire mage is the ultimate Burst DPS combo in the game, bar none- and the Helmet is the key to the godliness.  With the helmet, I can start ANY fight against ANY class with my killer combo- even against hunters and warlocks.  When I start the fight with poly, I can take a break in the middle of the fight to heal WITHOUT healing the other guy- I used this to beat a 57 rogue the other day- he got me down to a sliver of health when he was at half health, I hit him with the helmet, bandaged and evocated, and had time to get to max range and charge up a Pyroblast in that 30 seconds (he stayed at half health through the break).  I can use this to defeat other fire and arcane mages- after they blow counterspell and start polying, I hit with Helmet- I then have my counterspell and they don't.  Dumbass druids who jump me in animal form, thinking themselves immune to poly, get hit and I can combo them.  I can even jump duos- ran into a 60 and 52 the other day, I hit the 60 with the Helmet, polyed the 52, and killed the 52 and got away before the 60 revived.

The point? If you are a rogue, hunter or mage especially, there is no reason this shouldn't be the helmet you are wearing in all non-instance scenarios.  This item circumvents the CC nerf patch of last December.  I am still teaching my guildies to steer clear of people I hit with it in group PvP, but it rocks when they do...your group of five runs into a like enemy group, you will win the fight if their priest is out of it for 30 seconds.

All life begins with Nu and ends with Nu.  This is the truth!  This is my belief! At least for now...

I saw this on someone and asked about it and they said they just liked the helmet look.

What's the cooldown?

Yeah my priest on Archimonde could make the goblin helmet, hell the only reason I really took engineering and then gobbo eng was to get it.  Best tradeskill item in the game for pvp.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

Cool ability. But the 20 min cooldown timer really just limits it to a get-out-of-jail-free card when someone tries to take advantage of you. I don't know if it's something I'd run around wearing just in case someone tries to gank me .

Simply take it off while the cooldown is wearing down.

And it looks awesome, too bad I'm not an engineer.  I'm a mage and this would, well, make me quite overpowered.

Ever since I found a blueprint for a Arcanite Mechanical Dragonling I have been planning on swithcing to Engineering on my Mage.  Not sure if i REALLY want to drop tailoring tho.  May have to pick up Mineing/Skinning on an alt for backup.

We wouldn't know about it...but you already told us about it, heh. Wasn't that here? My feeble brain and whatnot.

As I said last time this was brought up, very cool item. Very in need of nerfing if it's the only effect like that left because they've nerfed the rest of them.

But my 55 hunter is seriously considering dropping leatherworking (omg I've got almost every recipe, too, dammit) because it's outlived the bulk of its usefulness. Not to say (as many do) that it was useless, I found it a great skill to have while levelling up. I was thinking about herb/alch, but mining/engineering could be cool, too (thorium shells ftw). Hmm...I gots some thinkins to do.

They heavily nerfed engineering several times during the beta because it became essentially a requirement for anyone who wanted to PvP seriously.  Looks like one slipped by.

This post makes me want to squeeze into my badass red jeans.
