Glad0s voice was in the first one too. Also this looks like a better Transformers movie than transformers.

The only reason it'll suck is it's going to rehash the first movie and not dial it up to 11 with tens to hundreds of Jagers.

This is getting a sequel. Jesus, I guess I am now officially old as I just don't get it. People need to stop making shitty movies and then turning around and making a sequel(s) to those movies.

More Logan, less Power Rangers.

That pretty much tells you I'm old and bitter.

Was Pacific Rim a Dumb awesome movie, or an Awesome Dumb movie?

And the question is - will they forget that Swords exist for most of the movie again?  why so serious?

You know, because I saw this topic last night, I realized I hadn't seen the first one.  So I rectified that.  Most of the movie I'm thinking, why are they boxing the damn things (and occasionally shooting).  Then he used that ship as a club and I'm thinking "finally!"

And then the sword comes out and I'm dumbfounded.

But it was an entertaining 2 hours, if cheesy in many places.  I will definitely watch part 2.

Pacific Rim was terrible.

By the law of sequels, this will be worse.

Pacific Rim was good. Not in the well this was a well constructed film way but in a call back to the fuck yeah movies on the 80s and 90s. 20 years from now, after Pacific Rim 2 fails miserably, their going to remake this movie and people will bitch and moan about how unoriginal hollywood is.

I liked the first one well enough when I saw it. Just not enough apparently to ever watch it a second time or to look forward to the sequel.

Pacific Rim was a decent kaiju movie. Since kaiju movies are 98.5% shit and only are memorable as a kind of bemused nostalgia for sitting on our collective asses on 70s Saturday afternoons watching UHF channels, a decent kaiju movie is a somewhat dumb overall movie.

I thought that Pacific Rim was a mediocre movie and mediocre as a kaiju movie. For me it seemed to fall into the same "trap" as many other western kaiju movies by having a "hero" main character instead of making the monster (or the giant robot) be the center of the movie.

This is a very fair critique and one I don't expect to be resolved in #2, unfortunately. It was disappointing that DelToro was stuck in that box, too. I expected more of him on that front, but since he's not attached to #2 I wonder if a lot of it wasn't studio muddling.

I'm pretty sure Pac Rim was Del Toro's desire to make a live action anime with giant robots fighting kaiju like Neon Genesis Evangelion instead of a kaiju monster movie like Godzilla.

I could see everything in 3d imax during the first one, it was nothing like the older transformers (they seem to have fixed in the last few judging from trailers but I've never watched any but #1) where it was actually fucking impossible to even figure out who was fighting who let alone what was happening.

Imma watch the shit out of Pac Rim 2. I can't promise it'll be any good or make any sense or even not fuck up the things that the first one did right and those things did exist. But if someone offers me giant robots on a bigass screen I'm there. No Power Rangers didn't count on that front just like it never did on Saturday mornings.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

Well, at the end of the First one all they earthlings really have to be doing is having the mechs standing at the Rift, chopping up the monsters as they walk through, with their fucking SWORDS. So maybe we will get hawt Mech on Mech action as the political alliance due to the threat decays.

I'd bet on the first Mech Sex scene ever on film, except I'm terrified it might actually happen.

Rule 34 covers all things.

I have learned this to my detriment many, many times with much more bizarre things.  Mech on Mech is so tame as to be normal.
