Just a little over an episode in and really digging it.  Well woven, interesting foreshadowing/teasing... Acting is pretty good so far.  They're unafraid in their storytelling choices, too.

Basic story:  A young woman reappears after being missing for several years. Her reappearance, and life, are surrounded by odd little unexplainable mysteries... that are slowly explained.

If you enjoyed Stranger Things I think you'll enjoy this one, even though they are quite different.

Edit: The strong start of episodes 1 and 2 quickly degrade and it loses a lot of the type of appeal I saw in those  episodes.  Other fun things develop, but it goes through so many twists and oddities that you need to have a pretty wide taste to really enjoy the entire series.  I'm curious where they'll go in season 2, but will likely wait to watch it, once available, until the right mood hits me.

I've really enjoyed the first two episodes and will continue watching as soon as we wrap up another show we're watching.

The first episode is very strong, maybe one of my favorite openers of a series yet.

6 episodes in and it has taken a few odd twists. Not so sure it will finish a great as it started.

... And after the sudden end, I see what they were doing. I'm not sure if they nailed it, but it was interesting. Worth seeing.

That was sort of my reaction. I liked the series so far but I am not really sure where they are going with this.

So, I finished watching Episode 5 and...I find the whole thing a little too pretentious as in "hey, see how ALTERNATIVE, new-age we are? Behold our slow-crawling, contemplative narrative pace and imagine where the fuck we're going with this show".

I'm all for weird stories...I mean, I'm loving "The Leftovers", and think that the...ahem, "hotel" episode in the second season is pure genious, but regarding "OA" what I wrote above are my current feelings. Anyway, I'll be more than happy to change my opinion by the end of the 8th episode.

I have avoided anything to do with new-age pseudo science/religion kooliad "life would be easier if everyone just "felt" each other" bullshit that I forgot to spot it when I see it.

Is basically the "show". Is it bad? No. Pointless. Yes. Has more in common with Sense 8 without completely wasting what little syfy is present. Instead it drags out the disappointment over the course of 10 episodes so the let down isn't dumped on your lap in the first 3 to 4 episodes. Anyone who is describing this as "like" strangers things is basically hanging around way to many marketing execs who thinks "weird girl with weird powers" is a genre. This will royally piss off a fan of stranger things.

Ugh, god, I wish I hadn't watched this after reaching the end. It started off quite promisingly but by about half way through I was getting annoyed with the characters, their stupid decisions and idiotic plot points. Some examples that made me groan out loud:

And then to end it with

This was nothing like Stranger Things, which was actually good, intelligently written and well worth watching.

Finished the first season, and my opinion remains unchanged. You can't blame them for trying, but plot and pace was really inconsistent, pretentious and all over the place. The ending in the school....ugh, cringe-fest.

If there's a second season, I might give the creators the benefit of the doubt in order to see what's the big picture in their mind, maybe it will put these first 8 episode in a new perspective.

The wife wanted to watch this, so we watched the first episode.  I was annoyed and rolling my eyes through all of it until the last 10-15 minutes when she got to her backstory time, but that wasn't enough to make me interested enough to want to continue with it.  She felt the same way.

Season 2 is finally out.  They steered the ship straight into Fringe+ territory.  I 'watched' a few episodes in the background while working yesterday.  It had high and low points... and a lot of surprises and leaps in strange directions.  I'm not done with the current season, but a friend that is said that the end of it is bat shit.  It sn't for everyone, but some people will love it.

I'd be surprised if there is no Season 3.

And the lead actress (who produced/wrote much of the series) is much better this season.  She has some bad moments, but I don't feel like she is too weak for the role like I did for season 1.

2020 will be the year I gave up all hope.

Why isn't this show about Green Lantern? :p

I'm a bit behind in my tv viewing but I'll check this out later.

I'll give them credit for being brave and ambitious.  After the way season 1 ended, I thought they'd have a hard time finding someplace to go, but they had a plan that tied into the first season very well.

However, the end of the second season is a move that seems awfully shark jumpy.  If they can pull it off in season 3, I'll be truly impressed.
