I think my head is floating off into space. I groaned, then again, I only looked at a couple of pages then gave up.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

Those numbers are big until you realize blizzard has FIVE MILLION SUBSCRIBERS. In the last round of banning, all the farmers went away and it took only about 3 weeks for them to be back in full force. I know that they plan for this sort of thing and only see it as a small easily managed and planned for 'expense' in terms of new game purchase and time investment to get that character back to 60. Those numbers mean nothing when you can take a character from 1-60 in about 50 hours of game time. It's a speed bump to the farmers, and is about as effective as our (USA's) current 'war on drugs'.

Not all five million are in north america and I kind of doubt the asian servers have a farmer problem, though I guess I could be wrong. What's more annoying is that a /who dire maul on any server shows a shitton of L40ish hunters already in there which you know have to be exploiting to even survive and Blizzard isn't doing anything about them yet.

Doesn't that belong in the random adventures thread? Its a tall story, full of errors. Skimmed it, didn't read the gigantic thread. I assume that other folks pointed out that it was fake, and that the OP indignantly claimed it was all true. It's not like Hyu's schtick is unique.

Not really... there were maybe one or two disbelievers in the entire thread (and the actual newspaper story seems to match, not that it adds to the veracity). And I can't post in the den. /sadface Edit: Of course it can be a fake... it's on teh intarweb after all! But at least it's entertaining. -- Z.

I don't have a link to a thread, just a sig that must've come from a thread at some point. It's priceless. I doubt anyone could do this on purpose. It makes me wonder what language is going to be like in 50 years.

Alamo is an ongoing gag (as in not a real poster, but someone RP's as him). He does "Strategy" guides and is heralded as a comedy genius by other WoW board members.

Alamo's warlock equivalent is Kralnor (may 2005). I dont like to stress the fact that the warlock rocks, but he jus does. So, for all you staff users out there, feel free to come in and post, my staff is a good one, but here is how it goes
1. post message in the room
2. LOOK IT OVER
3. dont report anything, i might get in trouble :)
and 4. Have fun!!! Info: http://www.wowwiki.com/KralnorThe Book of Kralnor: http://www.thatsjuicy.com/kralnor/book.htmNote that the orc warlock in the arena screenshots on the official WOW site is called Kralnor.. and yes, he's using a level 10 staff. -- Z.

"Shout it right up his ass" was hilarous. The rest reminded me of what a previous raid leader woulda been if he was agressive instead of passive-agressive. Chenghiz knows who I'm talking about :p

Yeah, so why do people raid?
I'm glad it took me this long to reach 60. The expansion will keep me occupied and out of that sort of environment.

People raid because it's fun.
It's like looking closely at Pro Football, seeing how they shout shit at each other, abuse members, backstab in the media and showboat. You wonder why they bother (aside from the $$$) but the players don't see it as a big deal. It's all part of the game.
You don't HAVE to play at that level, though. I raid regularly and we don't curse at each other, the raid leader doesn't call us fucking asshole noobs and we don't have meltdowns like the Ony guy or the above image. We do get a "what happened there <x-class>" in a very frustrated tone, or call raids off if people are acting like they're completly drunk but it's rare.
Again, it's about finding people with the same attitude as you, and the same goals.

That guy is hillarius. We didn't see much of that from my old guild leader or any of the raid leaders (from when the guild leader was out for the birth of his son). A raid leader supposedly did that when I was away from the game (flipping out on MC dog packs) and was told to leave. All raid/guild leaders say this sort of stuff, though. Unless your guild is constantly one shotting everything, there's going to be some disappointment, some reinforcement of what needs to be done, and some pointing out of who fucked up and why they did. Usually most aren't such dicks about it or so blatantly disparaging. Still, I think he's funny. Reminds me a lot of my old soccer coach from when I was doing club soccer from when I was 13 & 14. Nothing like being on a talented, yet struggling team being coached by a group of JUCO players (one who was on a club team that placed in nationals) with bad drug problems. A quote from him during warmups after we got demoted a level (4th flight to 5th), "Wave to 5th flight cars guys, you earned it." Again, it's about finding people with the same attitude as you, and the same goals. This is killing me. My two friends just quit again. They can't stand being easy targets in PVP and they can't reconcile that a big part of that is their pre-MC level gear. I can't find a casual guild, consisting of mainly mature individuals that likes to PVP as a team on occasion. And that plays during my current time frame. And that doesn't have a completely retarded guild name. Sorry, I'm not joining "Generous Package". I'd like to raid, but I know I can't. I miss the raid guild though. I miss playing with decent players that are actually good at this game. I miss not having to deal with PUGs. I miss the organization. I don't miss 4 days a week at 7PM PST, though. Gah. /emo

I'd offer you a slot in our guild but: 1) We're alliance and you hate elves. 2) Alleria is closed to transfers because once again we're up to 300+ queues.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply I thought all raids were like this. I meant, I can't believe the people in that particular guild put up with that crap. I would have hit /gquit after the first tirade.
Actually, I've done that already in the past. Best move I've made. Twice.

Not all raiding is like that, espeically if you're in large raiding alliances where you can choose which of 2-3 MC runs or BWL runs you want to attend. I know I have led a BWL run and now a Naxx run, and I just treat it as fun. We look at strategy we talk in the forums, but day of we go with one idea, try to learn, and then react to it in the forums after we're done.
Trying to make adjustments on a plan in the heat of battle to 40 other people just pisses everyone off.

I think folks are reading it too seriously. Bear in mind that (much of) the context is missing. Despite this, you can still tell from many of the quotes that Sebudai is often being comical and still has his guild mates' respect. But he's making valid points and being noticed. I'm surprised more people don't recognise the tone from physical education or more accurately, a military squad leader. He gets to say this shit because he's earned respect, and is able to take it as good as he gives it. Our raid leader is not dissimilar. He has a short fuse and yet he has a kind heart. If you need to be cosseted and soothed when a raid encounter goes wrong, there's probably a guild out there for you (they're probably still on Baron Geddon though).
It's pretty easy to figure out how much DPS you're doing as a corpse on the ground. It's not rocket surgery.

That was a rhetorical question. I am aware not all raiding guilds are like this and the quotes are cherry-picked. I didn't think green was needed. My mistake.

Our raid leader is fairly sarcastic, but in the funny/positive way. He's mostly bitching about the people who jump in before the attack call, and Hunters dropping stings that push off the 'lock DOTs.
In the Hunters defense, our 'locks are retards and we only drop our pussy-ass serpent stings on there when it appears the warlocks have completely forgotten the existance of their DoTs. In deference to our Warlocks, the rule was amended to "No stings if we're on the second row of effects".
Currently, I think he's trying to teach the raid: "When I call a wipe, please do not run over the FD'd hunters. They will not thank you for the repair bill. Just unequip and die, please."

Large gap between coddling and being a complete dickhead. It's not the military, it's slaying fictional dragons for fun. One style is correcting people to get things done, the other is about letting the emotional baggage of your leadership style loose on a bunch of people trying to have a good time. I just don't like the implication that you have to be verbally abusive, comical or otherwise, to get things done in raiding, which is what I think the casuals see and use as examples on why not to try.
