Did I just see the phrase "PK" servers?

This word, it does not mean what you think it means.

I know.  The irony of someone complaining 'Hey, all the sheep are gone, let's make a server solely with wolves' just made me laugh like fuck.

I think the worst thing they could do to this boy would be grant his request.  As such, I approve the plan.

If you go deep enough into that first thread, he goes on about how he fucks models.

Yeah the second thread delivered on the first post.  I had to peruse more stupid than I was comfortable with on the first, but the boy does have some issues.  To share for those who don't want to peruse:

Well, let's assume he is all that he says he is.  What point was he trying to prove?  His past exploits in High School directly translate into his skill on WoW?  Does he have his biceps and hamstrings directly linked to his UI?  He must be using some new fangled VR setup.

Or was he simply saying he was gonna kick everyone's ass on Internet....IRL!

More people tend to follow when they don't see mud being flung by both sides. At work (night shift at a hotel) I'm asked to use my judgement to let people in or not. If they look like a drugy or someone that may cause a problem, don't let them in. Now if two men walked up to the door. Dressed the same, acted the same, drove the same car, etc.. and I only let the caucasion in, instead of the African American, then yes, I would have a problem on my hands. Why? Because the ADA protects against that.

Now if an African American came up to me while I was working on my car, at my home, and asked to use my phone and I told him in no polite manner to get off my property and he called the police on a neighbors phone, then came back and waited for the police to come... guess who would be asked to leave.

That thread about the deaf guy made this thread good again.  It used to be a source of constant stifled laughs while at work.

I read a thread the other day - and I'm sorry I didn't post it here - where WoW "casuals" were whining about the catassitude of WoW and indicated in no uncertain terms that DDO (the game with no solo content) would "bring WoW to its knees" because WoW is so casual-hostile.  Later another poster came by and, without a hint of irony, suggested that if Blizzard didn't get its act together and implement better drops in 5-man instances for the casuals, people would go play Vanguard.

Are we for or against the kicking of the deaf person? I can't tell.

Personally it would depend on the kind of guild on whether I would do it. Friendly family-type guild? He can stay, though he'll soon feel left out as once the vent starts it's harder to start convos in /g. If it was a hardcore guild of any kind (raiding/pvp) then he'd be out. I don't care why you can't do something, if you can't do something considered essential, you're out.

My PvP Guild in GW ran into people who are too stupid to install ventrilo so we booted them.  They probably booted him thinking he was one of those people.  Of course if I was deaf and someone was asking me to install a voicechat program, I would put 2 and 2 together, speak up and try work with the leadership to see there was a compromise.

Read the threads, several people (including him) made it clear he was deaf.  There are several screenshots of the entire thing showing that everyone knew what was happening..

You know though I read it and it seemed like the deaf guy was kind of a dick and the guild leader was obviously a douche.  But if the first thing you say is "I'll contact Blizzard" I wouldn't want you in my guild.

Dick.

I'm sorry I don't bend over backwards for people when their disabilities would exclude them from an activity I'm engaging in unless I do them special favours.

Although I take back the raiding comment, there you can do the whole tells thing fine. And I'm fine with doing the little things as long as they work. In a PVP guild? Sorry son, but if I can't relay a voice comment to you and have you pick up on it that very SECOND I'm not taking you. There's no way to get around not being able to hear in PVP. Yeah you can do ok just doing your own thing, but if I wanted to do ok it wouldn't be a "hardcore" PVP guild. Hell, if you don't have a mic and there's enough people who do, you aren't coming. I did that to my brother for the week his mic was broken, though I would make an exception for a mute.

EDIT: I've been exluded from things because of my past weight, my height, and my condition. I don't particularly like it, but I suck it up. Certain things should always be done of course, but for non-public recreational activities you shouldn't expect special favours.

I was not able to read the thread, it seems to be gone or I can't access those forums from work.

But could someone enlighten my why somebody should be entitled to play with a certain group of people just because he is deaf ?

Last time I played, guilds where player run, since when can't the players decide for themself whom to play with ?

Not that this is a mindset I understand, but "forced guilding" I do not like any better.

PS: Pardon lack of coherence and bad grammar, I am posting from work with a hefty hangover.

Look, here's my take on it :

In this case the Guild Master is a cock.  Not for what he did, per se, but because he seems like a cock.  Further, the Deaf dude is a cock as well.  Not for being deaf or getting upset at being left out and ridiculed for his disability, but because he handled it totally wrong and came off as a cock.

So.

However, the deeper issue here is that because you are not on Vent/TS, you are a bad player.  Or, because of same, you cannot find ways around it, such as comm macros and whatnot.

It's a fucking game.  People who are excluding other people due to disabilities are TOTAL FUCKING COCKMASTERS.  Like, alas, the poster above.  Sorry Calantus, but I don't think you're right.  If you're good at PvP and have a system, I see no reason at all why you cannot participate, deaf or not.

The problem that the thread highlights is that people don't want to help each other out to make the game more enjoyable for all.  And that's fucking sad.

Edited to add :  I promised I was going to make a wee personal comment, but; we have 2 deaf people in our guild.  Apparently.  With one of them, I didn't even know until after he'd helped us beat Ragnaros. And, like me, he's a stone guard and moving on up the pvp chain.

Like I said you can do ok in PVP without it, but the whole point of a PVP guild is for co-ordinated PVP. You can't do that with typing, the lag time would be too much of a disadvantage. I'm fine with going the extra step to help players who are skilled overcome small problems (took me a hell of a time to get our vent compatable with macs for a single guildie for instance), but there's a line. I'm not going to make myself suffer through having to bend over backward so someone can play along with us. Maybe I'm just a selfish bastard, but I'm not really interested in spending my rec time accomodating people's special needs.

Also, I'd kick someone who had a head cold if they gave me shit over it and threatened to take action if I didn't help them with it.
