When she crossed over, she was just a ship. But when she came back... she was bullshit!

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that won't last.

Also, the buyout hasn't been approved. Gawker owes a whole fuckload of money.

I think they are buying it out of the bankruptcy estate, so it will really just depend on whether the Trustee thinks the value is correct.  The funds will be used to (partially) pay off the debts, but the assets will be acquired in the clear.

I think Kotaku, io9, Deadspin, Lifehacker and Jalopnik will continue to publish after the dust settles. Not so sure about Jezebel.

I hope Jezebel gets nuked from orbit, and somehow they somehow take Breitbart with it. 2-fer.

Maybe they'll stop focusing so much on soccer and semi-political bullshit.

Looks like this whole thing is now officially over.  Gawker has settled with Hogan for $31 million and 45% of the money from the sale of the company.

If you read any of their remaining sites, by the way, you'll note that they're all effectively Gawker refugee camps now. Whatever the theme of the site, it's got an admixture of very Gawker-ish posts by former Gawker-exclusive writers being thrown into the hopper. I don't think they actually laid off anyone.

From the report I heard, the only thing that was done was they shuttered the Gawker.com domain and moved the staff to the other sites.

And the sites are even worse now. Reading Deadspin now is barely about sports and more about bullshit. The first two things on the site are an ad about clothes as the top article and bullshit Trump rumors as the second article. On a sports site supposedly.

Those sites can all die of smallpox.
