I don't like being railroaded into builds.

That was my problem with the barb when I was playing it at the beginning. The most effective build was really unfun to me.

Agreed.

Also, tried to login and run thorugh the last achieve needed for my WH last night. Didn't even get past the character select screen. I fucking hate the Set Dungeon for WH. The "don't get hit by anything" requirement combined with, "OH LOL HERE'S RANDOM EARTHWORMS" is complete bullshit.

So when is S7 coming? I am getting my non-season barb back into things and get him to lvl 70. He was originally made when the vanilla version came out and I quit.

Also, can someone answer me a barb question? I see these builds where the barb has two action spenders? But no generator? How the hell do you play that way and spend all your fury? Where is the fury coming from?

I realize how many jokes that last sentence can spawn so don't be that guy please.

Check the items in the build.  For example the popular Hammer of the Ancients build uses the Gavel of Judgement:  "Hammer of the Ancients returns 20-25 Fury if it hits 3 or fewer enemies".  So you use War Cry to generate just enough Fury to use Hammer of the Ancients and then quickly spam HotA to get max Fury before diving into a group of mobs.  Any time you get low on Fury you can spam it again at nothing to quickly get max Fury.

Ah that's helpful, I will look. The barb always has the strangest builds to me of them all.

I loved the S6 headbutt build... once I got used to its weirdness.

Leapquake barb was a blast in S5.

I'm probably doing a monk since that's one of the classes I've never played.

Barb builds are frustrating past GR60, at least Raekor's and the Leap barb are.  Raekor's damage goes in the toilet, and you're completely dependent on Ancient Spear damage.  Leap barb is like ringing a dinner bell for everything to kick the shit out of you as it's even more fragile than Raekor's.  I found the Leap barb to be fun, however, and less prone to having to just sit there and wait for charges or cooldowns to reset.  I think Raekor's has a much higher GR ceiling, but I just found it frustrating and slow outside of a Torment X speedrunning setup.

I'm probably going monk.  I did UE DH last season after barb and found that to be fun and effective. I haven't played a monk for a few seasons now.  I've done enough WD and Crusader (once is enough).

My experience with WD is you are utterly dependent on one source of damage (Gargantuans) or stay around T8 or so.

 Ohhhhh, I see.

I'll probably rock a DH this time around since I haven't played one since like season 3.

Everything I've read points to WD being easy and op again this season.

So this season started then?  I never knew that ring applied to pet damage.  Is it newish? I never had that ring in pet builds before, but I haven't done a WD in a couple seasons now.

I assumed he meant the Short Man's Finger, but I'm not seeing any references to it.

The forums I've been browsing for this season stated that people on the PTR are moving away from pet WD's since they're too slow for speed runs.  I know almost nothing about WD's, but thought about playing one this season.  That's why I've been trying to see what's going on.

There is no build diversity for WDs.  If you want to progress reliably past about GR 50, you are going to run helltooth, with gargs + short man's finger.  Because Gargs are literally the only source of damage that is effective past that point.

Edit:  Apparently Jade Harvester is improved by the Ring of Emptiness, but the problem is that with Helltooth you can run Sacred Harvester + bracer to allow it to stack to 10, which is a huge damage reduction setup. Damage reduction is pretty critical for higher GRs.
- 3% int per stack (Soul Harvest)
- 6% damage reduction per stack (bracer)

Literally the same boring non-interactive build from last season.  Great job, Blizzard!

Seems they buffed Ring of Emptyness.  It's worked in with helltooth and garg.

What Rasix said.

I've decided to play a Crusader again this season.  It's the best combination of damage + forgiveness for my play style.

I had a lot of fun with the sader it was just slow.   Monk is fas and durable I might do that again.

Monk seems very strong this season, particularly solo.  I think it's a solid choice.

I was planning on playing a DH or Wizard this season, mostly because WD has been my primary the past 2 or 3 seasons.

Getting UE for free is pretty much a deciding factor on that.   awesome, for real

Leveling my barb via massacre bonuses. He's like 60 now. Kind of a fun challenge to hit 300 kills.
