Awww, I guess I died namelessly in the great goblin slaughter.

A giant venomous magpie with no eye-lids landed in the middle of our tavern and kicked Triforcers head off his shoulders across the room, forcing a goblin to jump out of its way.

 awesome, for real

I think you should take down that "Everybody Welcome" sign over the tavern...

And holy crap I'm an architect! And I've survived the giant bird in the bar *and* the goblin invasion!

I must have designed a panic room all for myself...

Looks like I died, defending the fortress to the last as the captain of the guard.

Hopefully I at least killed something first.

I feel I have to hand back my geek creds ;  so much playing of Gnomoria means most of these screenshots make no sense to me.  I can't see the redhead anymore, I just see the Matrix.

Wait a tick.. the giant humanoid snow beast is swimming around in the Magma?

I expected he would have coded something about snow melting in magma and the beastie would have died.

Sigh, looks like dwarf fortress wins again. I've uploaded it into the bug tracker, but it looks like this playthrough is at an end. I knew I should have retired the fort yesterday! I'll try some fiddling over the course of the week, but I'm not too hopeful. It looks like it's a save corruption bug that occurs with compressed saves, so in the future I'll now know to a) use uncompressed saves and b) create multiple backups  Ohhhhh, I see..

I'm torn (and burn-out frustration) as to what to do next, so I'll put it up to a vote to what people would like to see most:

A: Another fort in the same style as I already do, but in a more !!Fun!! location (and with a graphical tileset so people can see wtf is going on).
B: An educational "how to dwarf fortress" playthrough, to show new players how to set up a functional fort (no tileset and will be longer between updates)
C: Adventure mode shenanigans
D: An f13 succession fort, will need people to start taking numbers  DRILLING AND MANLINESS complete newbies welcome, as they generate the most !!Fun!!.

D, B, A, C in that order. I'd participate in a succession fort.

You need to do an armed militia take over of a local wildlife refuge.  All hunters. No food.  Limited craft skills.  awesome, for real

I'd like to see 'B', to be honest.  Followed by C, D abd A.

And could we just start off with goblins this time?

The Enjoyable Confederation of Jumping seems like a pretty good thing to a part of, in any event.

Looks like my creations are as bad as my posts. I made a rock salt grate, and then was mercilessly slaughtered by goblins. Still, I'd be honored to be in the next one!

A quick update, we'll do a succession fort with my first year also being a "how to set up your dwarf fortress" so people who are new can read that and know what's going on when it's their turn hehe. This'll take me awhile to set up (I'm very picky with world gen, trying to get as much variety as possible) so will probably be up sometime next week. I'll make a new thread for it, post here for your "turn" in the succession (one year per player). I'll also post helpful links and make the OP new player friendly, if you've never played dwarf fortress but always wanted to try, the F13 succession is just for you! Oh and don't mind if you're worried you're too newb and will kill everyone in the fort unintentionally, that's all part of the !!Fun!!  DRILLING AND MANLINESS DRILLING AND MANLINESS DRILLING AND MANLINESS
