How has it been almost three years since I stared Torchfatal? I must rectify this:

Orubxah, The Everlasting Dimensions
(http://i.imgur.com/hDAXOHO.png)

Tried a whole bunch of different world paramiters to try and gen an interesting world. Turns out in this one Dwarfs and Kobolds are all but extinct, Elves committed mass genocide and killed everyone on the east island that wasn't an Elf or a Red Squirrel Man, and in the west the Human Noble minority rule over a Goblin exile populace clashed in a perpetual war with the Demon-lead Goblin civilizations. Luckily for us, the Dwarf civilization The Halls of Ash still have a few dwarfs wandering the world, and so it's still Fortress Mode compatible. The last of the old Dwarf strongholds fell to giant Roc's and it's populace hunted by The Midnight of Spiraling, will we fall to the same fate?

I'm not sure what my schedule for this will be as I have much less leisure time then I did a few years ago, but at least the world is genned so I can jump right in when I have the chance (hopefully within the next week). At least now adventure mode is fixed so after the fort I'll have better story to tell then last time.

Be sure to list tools, mods, and graphics packages used.

And I want to be mayor.

I'd also like to not be the arch vampire that took down the civilization this time. Oh and I'd like to be a dude.

I usually play vanilla, but people did like the graphics pack I used last time... The problem is since I'm playing 42.04 I'm not sure they've been updated yet. I used LegendsViewer-1.14.02 to generate the stats and poke around for interesting information.

I'll try to set you up as the expedition leader.
I'd also like to not be the arch vampire that took down the civilization this time. Oh and I'd like to be a dude.
Didn't you give birth last time? Did you not enjoy the wonders of motherhood?

Nothing beats pump operator, bucket duty, or designated lever puller.  Of course, pump operator can have a short lifespan depending on the degree of engineering fail.  Lever puller can lead an interesting life he he neglects to hit the lever in time.  :awesome_for_real:

When you play the Game of Ian, you either win or you die. You die a filthy, dwarfish death.

... wait, can you even win at this game?

Usually mayors just retire to a quiet life of bookkeeping and trading. A don't see a coup in your future.

Although perhaps I will surprise.  Maybe one of the captains is in line for a promotion...

I'm just waiting for you to go into a strange mood and demand turtle bones, inevitably go mad and then on a rampage.  Then I can run around drunk and naked screaming I AM THE LAW as you beat me to death with your fists because i was probably never trained to use weapons.  It'll be good times.

What's this Bone Setting voodoo, are you some kind of elf?

Cut? Pour Beer on it.
Crushed? Soak it in Beer.
Headache? Drink more Beer.
Unconscious? Wave Beer under nose.
Still Unconscious? Wave a bit of gold with Beer under nose.
Broken limb? Drown it, can't mine more gold or grow hops for beer.

Post by: Teleku on January 12, 2016, 12:29:30 PM
Awww, I guess I died namelessly in the great goblin slaughter.

A giant venomous magpie with no eye-lids landed in the middle of our tavern and kicked Triforcers head off his shoulders across the room, forcing a goblin to jump out of its way.

I think you should take down that "Everybody Welcome" sign over the tavern...

And holy crap I'm an architect! And I've survived the giant bird in the bar *and* the goblin invasion!

I must have designed a panic room all for myself...

Sigh, looks like dwarf fortress wins again. I've uploaded it into the bug tracker, but it looks like this playthrough is at an end. I knew I should have retired the fort yesterday! I'll try some fiddling over the course of the week, but I'm not too hopeful. It looks like it's a save corruption bug that occurs with compressed saves, so in the future I'll now know to a) use uncompressed saves and b) create multiple backups  :oh_i_see:.

I'm torn (and burn-out frustration) as to what to do next, so I'll put it up to a vote to what people would like to see most:

A: Another fort in the same style as I already do, but in a more !!Fun!! location (and with a graphical tileset so people can see wtf is going on).
B: An educational "how to dwarf fortress" playthrough, to show new players how to set up a functional fort (no tileset and will be longer between updates)
C: Adventure mode shenanigans
D: An f13 succession fort, will need people to start taking numbers  :drill: complete newbies welcome, as they generate the most !!Fun!!.

D, B, A, C in that order. I'd participate in a succession fort.

Title: Re: Dwarf Fortress: Orubxah

A quick update, we'll do a succession fort with my first year also being a "how to set up your dwarf fortress" so people who are new can read that and know what's going on when it's their turn hehe. This'll take me awhile to set up (I'm very picky with world gen, trying to get as much variety as possible) so will probably be up sometime next week. I'll make a new thread for it, post here for your "turn" in the succession (one year per player). I'll also post helpful links and make the OP new player friendly, if you've never played dwarf fortress but always wanted to try, the F13 succession is just for you! Oh and don't mind if you're worried you're too newb and will kill everyone in the fort unintentionally, that's all part of the !!Fun!!  :drill: :drill: :drill:
