The tabloids are all screaming that Britney has gone stark raving dogshit insane, complete with pics of her looking disheveled in restraints.  What's going on?  I don't actually read tabloids and I don't feel like going to a tabloidy website to find out.

Then why are you reading "serious business?"  DRILLING AND MANLINESS

Maybe because she is completely insane?  The crazy guy on the corner is more together than her.

Not sure what you are referring to. Nothing's happened over the weekend that I've heard about.

I did not even know she had a boyfriend.

And the way she looks in those pictures ...  ACK!

Rumour just went around that Britney is dead. TMZ.com says it's not true - she is being temporarily committed on another 5150 hold order. Paparazzi and gossip sites have gone nuts again.

It must be true.  Dr. Phil just said so on the morning news show I just accidentally watched.

Intervention.

She really needs someone to keep her in line.

Like Dr. Phil.

But only if they film it and put it on Bravo to replace that medusa Kathy Griffin.

Dr. Phill (who isn't even a doctor) is just looking to boost ratings....he is leaching on to this entire situation.

I thought he was a psychologist?  What does a Ph.D in make you?  A Donut of philosophy?  Or is he not even that?

A therapist I know knew Doctor Phil. His name came up in conversation.

The therapist -- who I swear, would find kind things to say about the devil himself, had this to say about Doctor Phil.

"It's good to see he got a TV show. He never seemed comfortable with people".

He's got his doctorate, but he is not licensed to practice medicine.  His license was revoked almost two decades ago for having a relationship with a patient.

Dr. Phil is a businessman first.

But this is the Britney Spears thread.

But.. but... a psychologist can't practice medicine anyway, can they?  I know to provide services as to people you need a psychologist license but not a medical degree or license, right?  Or do I have this all wrong.  A psychologist can't perscribe meds, either, can they?

Where is Nebu?  I don't want to look all this up.  It sounds like more reading than I want to do right now!

I think it's psychiatrists that just get to actually prescribe meds. Usually patients have both working with them.

A clinical psychologist, which Dr. Phil is, performs essentially the same function as a psychiatrist.  They both attempt to assess the causes of mental distress.  A psychologist will have to refer you to a psychiatrist if he or she believes that medication would benefit.

McGraw, on the other hand, after losing his license never really attempted to get it back and moved on to business ventures.  He didn't achieve fame by being good at his profession, he achieved it by being hired by Oprah to help defend her when she was sued by the cattle farmers.  She liked him and put him on the show.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.  Just saying.

Apparently Britney caved during her intervention due to lack of sleep.

Note to self: get plenty of rest before next bender.

Sorry, I'm in Maine and didn't see this thread until now.  Yes, psychiatrists are MD's with the training to dispense meds.  Psychologists (PhD psychology) can't prescribe, but many states are currently working to change this... which would be a huge mistake in my opinion.

Hope that helps.

I like the idea of people being able to get therapy, if needed, (NOT ME!) and seeing a person whose thoughts don't immediately turn to medication.  And I'm not saying people shouldn't have meds to help, just that maybe it shouldn't be the first thing tried.  Well, depends on how nuts you are, I guess.

I still feel sorry for Britney Spears.  I bet it's hard trying to maintain your sanity when the people "helping"  are every bit as nuts as you.  As for Dr. Phil... he really does seem to be using her unstable mental health to help his own career.  That's all kinds of nasty.

Why is tramadol evil?  Pain is evil.  Not that I'm on the tramadol, but it's the principle.  I'm more of a methocarbamol kinda guy, actually.

I posted about it in one of the other threads a few days ago.  I was on it for a few days where I wasn't in pain, but it made the rest of me feel like utter crap.  Then I had two days of withdrawl where I slept for 36 hours and food wasn't staying down.

Had I to do it over again I would have taken the pain.

Her dad was granted a conservatership over her today so maybe someone is finally getting their shit together to put a stop to this nonsense and get her some help.

On another note, Eva Mendes just checked into the same Utah rehab joint that Lohan was in. I think I need to go start hanging out down there.
