SOme sort of Mad Max looking thing by the people who make War Thunder and Star Conflict. Nothing much there yet except some pointless background info and some screenshots. But, the company has proven that it can do huge, gorgeous maps and vehicle combat so even if they just make some minor changes to their engine and stick cars in it it should at least get off the ground.

It totally looks like a better looking Robocraft (which is actually a good thing) and of course Auto Assault. But I'm afraid is being published by Gaijin but developed by someone else (Targem), the people who made Star Conflict and NOT the people who made War Thunder, so I am way less confident.

Star Conflict is still a good game. I would still be playing it but the only type of ship I was really enjoying were drone carriers and after a certain level they stopped existing.

CBT access available and NDA dropped- so the videos are coming in.

Certainly looks fun.

I've been kind of half-assed following the development.  I may buy my way into the CBT in a week or so.  It certainly looks interesting and I like the genre (oh Auto Assault... cry)

This is actually pretty fun.  I wish the arenas were more like racetracks rather than standard two bases type deals though.

This is a LOT of fun. So far the matches are stupidly fast and filled with bots (to ensure they start immediately and probably to give them a lot of telemetry data), but the core of the game seems solid. It is very much like Robocraft, but with much better graphics and more satisfying feedback for pretty much everything.

There are only a handful of maps but they look good and provide more than enough room. The tactical layer is impossible to judge considering how short matches seem to be, and how many bots were in all my games, but I would be curious to see two teams of experienced players duke it out.

The build mode is a bit of a wet dream for Auto Assault (  DRILLING AND WOMANLINESS ) Mad Max and Twisted Metal fans, but the best part is really how much you can mix and match everything and create monstruosities that can barely move or stand straight just for fun. Obviously, the purpose here is to create stuff that makes sense in a fight, and there are many factors to keep track of, including available power, which is a way to limit the number of weapons, and other expected things like turret speed, traverse, and placement because dpeending on what side of your car you put your weapons on you might have better success by firing broadside instead of straight in front of you or vice versa.

Weapons range from machine guns to 100m cannons, through shotguns, miniguns and missile launchers. They also come in all sorts of rarity from your bland White quality up to to Blue, Purple and of course Legendary Orange. You drop new weapons by fighting battles and also by running some of the PvE "raids", but maybe the most reliable way is to level up your faction (there are three, distinct in favourite weaponry and construction style) and get their blueprints and rewards. Crafting is another important aspect, as it's the most reliable way to get rare weapons, and depending on what factions you are enlisted with you get access to different crafting workbenches provided you have enough reputation. Yes, you can switch factions.

Another interesting aspect is that every part is tradable in the Auction House. This would apprently make sense for rares only but that's not the case as every part has a durability that cannot be repaired through money alone. Instead, it can only be fixed through other similar parts or materials, and you can obtain those by grinding of course or just going to the market and buying what you need from other players. This is cool because pretty much everything you have has a market value, and while there are concerns about the pay2win mechanic (currency is purchaseable), it also keeps things more dynamic than your usual World of Tanks clone. In short, all your cars break down over time, and you need parts and money to repair it but that money is going to other players.

Finally, a couple of cool features. Exhibition lets you upload your creations to a gallery where they can be liked or disliked in order to gain visibility. The nice touch is that every uploaded car can be test-driven in a seamless (no loading screen) instance and that opens up a world of bogus strolls that while completely pointless turn out to be worth a few chuckles. But you can also "copy" any car setup uploaded in the exhibition gallery, which means that if you have the parts you will be able to recreate the car in your garage. It's a built-in sharing feature that works really well and gives the whole building and creative aspect of the game a chance to shine.

The other cool feature is an upcoming (I could not test it) mode called Leviathan. In Leviathan mode, players will face some boss PvE battles against huge metal monstruosities called Leviathans. The kick is that Leviathans are built by players (only high level players can build one) and driven by the AI. If the Leviathan you have built kills players, even when you are offline, you get rewards.

So far, it is already good fun albeit a bit "light", but that could be because of the tier I am (tier NOOB) and because of all the AIs involved. And I am worried about the pay2win aspects. And balance is a mess at the moment, of course. Yet, a lot of goodness to look forward to with the next stages of beta. EDIT: For example, they are working on a "Base Camp" function, where you will have to develop your own base and structures, upgrade it, and manage people and workers. It's in the concept stage but that will be another nice addition.

Yeah, the more i play the more i enjoy this.  The quick matches are perfect (3 mins on the timer, most end quicker), the building and testing is great.  It's a tad grindy if you want the better pieces though.

That's not even the worst part. What I hate is that your hardearned better pieces slowly die, and you really have to pay attention to the economy to keep your stuff in a functional state. Nothing worse than finding out that your Real-Money vehicle is at 0% condition and you'll have to grind with a shitty and hopeless starter one for a while until you can afford to repair it.

But I really believe that a lot of this stuff will be sorted out as everyone seems to be complaining exactly about this.

It's not like that, your items lose one point of durability when you lose a match.  Edit: they also retain full functionality even when completely broken, but if it has 0 durability they get destroyed on the first hit, which is workable on certain things but not others.

If you've played War Thunder tier 4 or 5 you'll be used to dying in one hit. The Tank game especially is all about getting the first hit in or drying. Even in a Maus T-54s will one shot you all day long.

I haven't played war thunder but dying in one hit would kind of ruin the point of this game.  Unless you are using a zero durability cabin or a zero durability anything that explodes you shouldn't be dying in one hit to anything as long as you are armored enough for the power score level you are playing at.  Losing your wheels or your guns is a huge pain in the ass though, so really there are only a few types of items you can use at zero durability, mostly things you can bury under a ton of armor like radiators.

Since Robocraft had its gameplay completely um… "improved", I've been looking at Crossout as a game to fill that build / fight niche. The only thing that's holding me back is concern about latency, since I've heard from a couple of people that they're getting 300ms+ pings in AUS.

As a note — if you do buy this, save your premium vehicle and items for later when you're good enough to not get them trashed.

If you want to enjoy Crossout, wait a bit more before buying it. At the moment it's cool for the first few days and while you explore the build functions. But higher "levels" gameplay is broken by homing missiles, so to avoid a frustrating experience I would suggest to wait for the inevitable balancing patches.

It's just as fun at the lower PS levels, homing missiles do need a hard nerf though.  Double the power score and energy cost would still leave them near the top of the pile.

Pyre launchers got a nerf today, from 8 to 6 missiles and speed down from 60 to 45.  That seems fair enough, 25% drop in damage and way easier to dodge them.

I gave this a try. Somehow I won 7 of my 8 PvP matches. I did not feel like I was that awesome and after the first 3 land slide victories even thought I must be playing against stupid AI. I then tried the true PvE/AI mode and lost 2 matches. Least 5 of my PvP wins were landslide victories. My only loss came down to a 2 on 2 battle with one of the cars on my team hiding in the back with no weapons on the car.

With quick 3 minute battles I don't know how much strategy is going to be a part of this game. Vehicle building appears to be the big draw but is very confusing as a newbie. It is not very well explained. For example I wanted to replace an item but could not figure out what to do besides using the ability name Del. Turns out Del is not a truly delete but put into inventory storage. Similar problem when got a new blue print. Was only a X to click on for my current vehicle but I believe it put all the parts back into my inventory. I sort of feel you should have to pass a test before allowing a car into battle to make sure it can move and kill something to avoid the problem I mentioned of the guy with no weapons on his car.

I did not see how the money making worked for the developers. PvE battles were limited by a currency I am guessing could buy but I did not see the appeal of PvE battles given they were difficult and time consuming with rewards that looked no better than PvP.

Pve battles are limited by gasoline, you earn 25 gasoline per pvp match as long as a)you win b)you have a barrel equipped in your vehicle (they are explodey if targeted) and c) your survive the match.  Gasoline also resets to full each day. Your first couple levels you are only matched against AI, that's why you destroyed them, it's basically a tutorial.  You shouldn't be trying pve battles with your default starting truck, even the easy ones require a few upgrades.
