Now in production, according to the presentation at the Disney Expo. To celebrate, there's a picture of some of the primary cast: Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Diego Luna and Jiang Wen.  I've put it in spoilers because of the following trigger warning because I know how sensitive some of you are to this: there are no white male characters and the principal, front and centre, main role spot is taken by a woman.

 DRILLING AND WOMANLINESS

Edit: removed spoilers because  why so serious?

Also, brief synopsis for those are don't have to wear adult nappies about this like I do:

Quote
Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One" is set before the events of "Star Wars: A New Hope" and tells the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star.

Also starring Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker and Mads Mikkelson.

Edit 2: and Alan Tudyk!

That cast is awesome. What is this for? One of those Star Wars universe movies?

Hang on, if they are stealing plans for the Death Star shouldn't they be Bothans? (And all dead)

. No. That was in Jedi. All we know about ANH is that Leia had them and was trying to get them to Alderaan

As far as I know Bothans only got a passing mention in the films.  It's the EU that made them small furry aliens, so since the EU has been eighty-sixed it's entirely possible that the people in that picture are Bothans in the same manner that Han Solo is Corellian (which might also be an EU thing actually, it's hard to keep track).

Over and out.

This would be glorious and I would laugh and laugh and laugh if it came about that way. Because Bothans as visualized by Zahn are bunny people and would have as much gravitas as Jar Jar Binks with their ear-twitching and nose-snuffling.

Also, that is a terrible picture of Felicity Jones. She looks like Sally Field.

Mads Mikkelson.

I never knew I wanted Mads as an imperial until now and now it's the only thing I want from star wars.

Maybe the white kids can identify with Tudyck.  He'll probably play a real wisecracker.  Get it? Cracker?  I'll show myself out.

You know, I think this is the first new Star Wars announcement that actually has me interested.  I'm officially looking forward to this movie more than Episode VII.

Yes.  Yes, I can.

And you shouldn't have put that imagine in there because now that's all I can see.

It would be quite, quite awesome.

I was just about to reply without reading the entire thread. Thank you for beating me to the joke.

The consultant they brought on board after the empire fell suggested they try promoting a more casual atmosphere to help with employee retention during their rebuilding phase.

Anyways, a Heist movie set in the Star Wars universe.  I'm sold.
