Knew he was sick, but didn't think he was in that bad of shape.

Always wondered what it was going to be like losing him and Shatner. I'd rather go back to wondering.  cry

He was the highlight of the trauma my mother inflicted upon me by dragging me to Star Trek conventions back in the day. Meeting him at a signing at one of them changed my views on the conventions.

I loved him for In Search Of and for voicing Civ 4, with Spock a distant 3rd. What a great voice.

He was sent to the hospital earlier this week. I had a bad feeling because of his age, but was hoping it would be recoverable.

RIP, Lenoard. You've been such an amazing chunk of my geekhood that I can't fathom the landscape from here. You also never took yourself quite so seriously that you couldn't have fun with what you were doing and it showed.

I forgot about Civ 4. Man what a fucking awesome VO job he did with that. I can still hear him now going "Beep...Beep...Beep."

All we need is a Genesis Device and a Klingon Bird-of-Prey.

As long as he transferred his katra, then yeah... we're all good.

Saw he'd gone into hospital earlier in the week, had a suspicion this was where that was going.

Very sad, but he'd lived a damned awesome life.

I also liked his brief appearances in "Fringe" as William Bell, a somewhat disturbing but fascinating character. With Star Trek, he gave life to one of the most (if not *the* most, considering it goes beyond the "sci-fi nerds") iconic character in the history of both the small and big screen.

I Grokked Spock.

I rolled a new STO toon just to hear his voiceovers.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something.  We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

I have that installed but have never played. I think this is an excellent reason to give it a whirl.

I dont care how cheesy I sound, but Nimoy was practically the last person I'd want to see pass (aside from close relatives).  That's how I feel about this.  Fuckin sux.  I was sitting in lab (back in school <aerospace EE>; largely due to trek and his character btw) when I got the txt.  Could no longer work.  Started shaking.  You think something like this wouldn't effect you that much, but it does.  Just imagine how some of the old NASA hats who idolized this guy feel; they're all hardcore trekkers.  Armstrong or Glenn dying?  Nothing compared to losing Nimoy.

Ironically, I'd been trying my damnedest to get to a convention before something like this happened (school and lack of funds prevented me each and every time the past few years).  He hadn't been attending that many regardless; but now the chance is lost.

Realize, you're talking about losing (without a doubt) the man with the highest and most rabid ever fanbase, actor or otherwise.  His popularity was unmatched.  Big big loss.  Nevertheless, I will enjoy watching the impending tributes all over the tv/internets.  The geeks will be out in force and full creativity mode.  Should be fun.

Just when you thought they couldn't possibly get themselves hated any more, the WBC threatens to picket Nimoy's funeral:
