Quote
Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series is a new six part episodic game series set in the world of HBO's groundbreaking TV show.

This new story tells of House Forrester, a noble family from the north of Westeros, loyal to the Starks of Winterfell. Caught up in the events surrounding the War of the Five Kings, they are thrown into a maelstrom of bloody warfare, revenge, intrigue, and horror as they fight to survive while the seven kingdoms tear themselves apart.

You will take on the role of different members of the Forrester household, and determine their fate through the choices you make; your actions and decisions will change the story around you.

(and yep, judging from Lena Headey contribution, looks like we're gonna meet some "main story" characters, voiced by their respective actors)

I didn't get much out of the first Walking Dead game, but I'm totally interested in this.

I've at the very least liked (if not outright loved) everything Telltale has done thus far, so this has my overwhelming support.

So what rating are they going for on this venture? Mature? Adult? XXX?

Honestly, I can't imagine Game of Thrones without nudity, cussing, and enough blood to make an anime fan blush...

Episode 1 comes out today. Here's the launch trailer:

Lena Headey and Natalie Dormer sound quite good; Peter Dinklage...hmm, not so much judging from that small snippet.

Is there combat or do you just choose paths and watch the results in these games?

In previous Tell Tale games combat is performed by pressing buttons in a particular sequence, using the thumbsticks to move a cursor over a specific part of the screen and pressing a particular button or through button mashing.  It's scripted but you can succeed or fail at different intervals throughout the action.  It's sort of like interacting with an action sequence in a movie.  I assume this will be similar.

I've never played the Walking Dead series. About how many hours of play time do you get with each episode?

Around two hours.

I finished Wolf Among Us episodes 1-5 in about 11 hours.  Same for Walking Dead Season 1, which was also 5 episodes.  Two hours per episode may not sound like a lot, but it's a dense two hours of entertainment.  You aren't doing anything repetitive or grindy and it demands your full attention.

I tend to wait until the whole thing is released before I get started on a season and then I just binge it.  The Borderlands season and this one are definitely on my list, but I probably won't play them until November of next year when they release a complete block of them like they have with previous stories and I have enough free time to play the hell out of them.

Looking forward to this, but as others suggest, not until it is finished. Playing a few hours then pausing for a few months is no fun.

Though I suppose it is thematically appropriate to the books it is based upon.

Wolf Among Us had all of that so I wouldn't too much. Tell Tale so far has made excellent stuff.

Also, Dinklage's accent is horrible in the show too, but the rest of his acting and part is awesome enough to distract from it. Not so much with a CG model. But close your eyes when he talks in the show and it's pretty much the same fake British accent every drunk American has tried.

First off, it's a video game. If you're that worried about the voice of a CG model - come on. It's a video game and it's more than good enough that we have the actual actors voicing the characters.

Secondly, as far as the maturity is concerned? Every other word of the intro is fuck, and people are getting stabbed through the neck.

What I like about this game, and something that I didn't really get from the zombie version, is that I make choices that I almost immediately regret. It helps that I drink at play at the same time, but a "Get out!" instead of a "Sit down!" is a way bigger choice that you'd think...

And I like it.

I don't even like adventure-ish games, and usually I skip the dialogue in every game I play because who cares? This one is really enjoyable.

Three posts in a row, might be the most involved I've ever been in an F13 thread.

The story is great; it's an awesome setup for the next episodes. I have nothing bad to say about it.

I would echo the "wait for more" sentiment though, because this one is rather short. I'm not sure if there's a pricing scheme that makes it cheaper if you buy this one, but 25 bones is too much for one episode alone. If you can get a multiple episode deal at a sale that would be ideal.

As far as I'm aware it's not possible to just buy one episode.  When you buy it on Steam you get the whole season for $29.99.  Of course you have to wait for the rest of it to come out, but you get it once it is released.

I really liked The Wolf Among Us but the choice is more of an illusion honestly since every choice leads to the exact same climax, just maybe 1-2 people are dead or not.
