Crap. I felt pangs of guilt because of the loss of that budding romance with Lana Beniko and how great the voice acting was in the game.

Ah well. Dust in the wind.

Are they adding some kind of scaling to keep 55 content from becoming a speedbump (just like old 50 content is a speedbump now, even while leveling)?

e: I assume that the tactical FPs will scale just like KDY, but that's only a smallish part of the content...

Are you talking about Makeb?  Cuz that's already been boosted to help people level through it.

Nah, I mean dungeons, raids, etc. My main concern is 'having enough stuff to do at max level', though in practice I'd probably start playing another character to experience their story instead (and stop playing them at the end of act 3, so ~48-50), anyway.  why so serious?

Is there any reason for leveling/story/casual players like me to buy this?

If you want the new planets and extra levels you should get it, oh and want to see the Revan story play out.

I peeked at the forums, something I'm not likely to do again, and some people seem to be getting it for the 12x exp.  I do appreciate that they price it at $20 instead of $50, like WoW.  I understand that some expansions have a lot more content than others but it just sort of irritates me when they want the same amount for an expansion as they want for an entirely new game.

I'm kind of disappointed there's no new PC race this time.  I know it's just a cosmetic thing, but this is Star Wars and it's always nice to have another excuse to make another alt.

Over and out.

I believe they're working on more races, but they'll be released via the Cartel Market, not as part of expansions.

Is irrelevant since voices are tied to the classes, not the races.

It looks like their 'skill' to 'discipline' change is going to make respeccing your advanced class possible.  I'm hoping it really cuts down on the ability bloat, and if it does, I'll be happy.

Also apparently having a security token has given me a slow trickle of cartel coins.  We'll see if that makes the f2p options bearable.

I really hope they don't make those horrible creatures with the vagina faces playable.  I don't much care for the penis faced ones, either.

Another interesting change before the expansion(I think) is the skill system is being totaled(NGE?  Time will tell).  They are changing class skill systems to something called Disciplines now.  The general consensus is one of the goals of this change is to reduce or eliminate hybrid builds...possibly for making "class balance" easier.  This is supposed to happen in 3.0 Update, not sure when that will be, not much detailed info yet.

I think it was just a better way to go then just reshuffling the trees like they did last time.  Also loss of the hybrid builds isn't really a huge deal.  It's just the people that think they are special snowflakes that have found something out that most people already know or use.  The best thing they can do is make enough good passive choices that you have a hard time just choosing 7.

I preordered this, because I don't want to play it.

I'm currently playing through the storyline for Bounty Hunter, and I have Trooper and Sith Inquisitor to go, and the 12x XP multiplier for class quests is so good (I handed in 4 quests at level 33 and leveled to 35, took 1 hr), that I'll probably finish these last 3 class story arcs within a month (playing casually) and then I can be done with this game.

12x xp for class quests?  WTF?

Can you level 1-50 on just class quests now?

Yeah it's a promotion if you're a subscriber and preorder this expansion, from now till Dec 9 when it goes live.

Yes you can level on just class quests now.  Hand in two quest steps, and you get a full level.  Each planet has several steps, so you'll probably outlevel planets easily.

In other news, the cost of mods and mats is through the roof; I guess everyone needs to re-outfit their alts every 2 hours (you can go through a planet's 4 levels that fast), and nobody's gathering anymore because they're all doing class quests.

The number of people on Taris seems to have doubled, compared to Sunday when I last checked (and today is a weekday).  I think the promotion is popular.

Coruscant was packed last night, back to making a couple laps to finish the Kill X bonus quests.

Decent mix of folks, been a while since I've seen a multiboxer so the top end has come back down for new characters, I guess. Only saw one other guy harvesting mats over a couple hours.

I haven't seen a multiboxer in an MMO in ages.  The last time I can clearly remember one was back in SWG where this guy had like 20 Wookie characters all named ****Bacca and would camp Nightsisters all day long.

Pretty sure I saw one last night. There was a guild blitz so at first I thought it was just the density of that guild's players, but I saw a pair of characters acting very mechanically together. *shrug*

This game didn't have auto-follow at launch (don't know if it does now) so multi-boxing was a bit tricky.

I bought the expansion and decided to level my older classes I never finished.  Got my BH from level 37 to level 49 in 8 hours or so.  I did a few side quests in the process(not class) and you realize how much Xp the 12x bonus is when you hand in a regular quest and the bar moves only a smidge.  Even at level 48 handing in 1 part of the class quest gave about 70% of the xp bar.  I did a few side quests for gear, you can skip doing them but class quests get a bit harder if you are badly undergeared.  They were smart enough to make skills no cost as well.

I bought the xpac as well.  The 12x xp was too tempting.  Got my BH to 55 and my Smuggler is 51 and I have five other alts of various levels.  This game is a LOT more fun for me now that I'm focusing on the stories that I never finished.  I'm actually spread too thin, spent hours today crafting and gathering and shuffling items around my toons.  Not touched GS, not touched Starfighter, focusing on stories and crafting.

Plus the expansion was a very reasonable $20 and I can scratch my MMO itch.  Have to say, brilliant marketing move.

I haven't had the time to play as much as I'd have liked since the 12x xp went in. I wish they'd make it a permanent thing for subscribers. Once it's over I'm going to have a lot of trouble playing at the old rates.
