I read the books (got them free from my mom)...and they are very immaturely written. The premise is sorta interesting in the beginning, but it just gets a bit too ridiculous and not credible. A movie could only improve on things. The concept sorta lends itself to film, if they can somehow make it more believable and the characters more relatable.

It's young adult bullshit, of course it's immaturely written.

Not quite what I meant...there is stuff that is written for young adults but still written well. Hunger Games is a good example of that...I suspect you might lump it in the same boat as Maze Runner, but the former is better in just about every way. Maze Runner wants to be just like Hunger Games, but it feels like it would be better suited for a five year-old.

My 12 year old read all the books last year and is juiced to see this. I am tempted to wait until it is a $5 streaming rental but if anyone has seen it I would love some feedback.
Mods: sorry, i did not scroll down far enough. Feel free to shoot me and combine with the older thread. I even started the one one so I am a double douche.

Douche!
I've seen some reviews saying it is better than Hunger Games and Divergent.

Thought it was pretty well done, though my main complaint would be that it was kind of weak on plot development. That being said, I think the "weak on plot" problem is more to do with the setting then the story, since there is not exactly a lot of plot development you can do when your entire story revolves being trapped inside a forrest about the size of a small city block which is surrounded by a huge ass maze.

Well, it was exiting, and tense, and well filmed, and really stupid in spots. Ok so clearly we aren't supposed to know what really happened, so of course we are supposed to assume things will be explained in the sequel, but come on...

Just saw it myself. Enjoyed it quite a bit! I agree mostly with what you said Bunk, but just to further discuss those points:
But really, that's just me nit picking shit. None of it really took away my enjoyment from the film. It was a lot better than the Hunger Games or Divergent, and unlike both of those, I'm not going to wiki the plot summaries for all the books because I know I'm not going to bother watching the follow on movies.

After being annoyed by this I went to a couple sites to see how the movie compared to the book. From what I can tell, they pretty much rewrote the character I was complaining about above completely for the movie. The book version of him at least made a bit of sense for the end confrontation.

Yeah, I had a feeling the book probably explains things better and it was just bad adaptation. If I go read the book summary, it wont spoil anything that hasn't already been revealed yet, will it?

I'm not planning on ever seeing the movie or reading the books, but I am a sucker for post-apocalypse/dystopian type settings, so I read up on the story arcs the books cover.
No specific details, just overall tone.

We're no strangers to love. You know the rules and so do I.

The movie wasn't terrible, but it did get a lot better once I started imagining GLaDOS running the facility. I want to see a fan edit of the movie with her voice edited in saying stuff.
