Let's take a moment to reflect on the gazillion pets that will run away due to fear of the loud booms and not find their way back home.  Also, the wildlife that becomes disoriented from the loud booms and leave their homes and never return to attend to their babies.

And, okay, Happy Birthday America, too.

Let's not forget our PTSD afflicted vets that will have rattled nerves throughout the evening!

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Pretty sure all the vets from the American Revolution are dead.

Anyway, this holiday is about Will Smith.

Forgot about this.  Today was also the start of the Calgary Stampede.  Lots of beer, vomit, horse shit and fake cowboys in our streets for the next week. awesome, for real  Or is that like a Tuesday in Dallas?

Some nice ribeye sammiches, the garden is pumping out some great lettuce and basil. Watched the neighbor's destroy-the-evidence level fireworks display then hit the front yard to watch the city's. Chilling with some Saranac summer brews, just polished an IPA and working on a Juggler-naut (a pom wheat, but not too sweet).

Odd you should say that.  During the Birmingham city fireworks preamble, they were playing snipets of lots of speeches - Lincoln, JFK, Reagan, etc.  But the final sound clip was from Bill Pullman's ID4 speech.  The wife and I just looked at each other aghast, then we both fell against each other giggling.

I would like to thank Vladimir Putin for ensuring that every member of the NPR news staff has had to say "Pussy Riot" on the air multiple times.

Bah, I don't even know why they would play any real presidents at all.

The neighbors put on a display that was preferable to fighting crowds and thunder.  Their one mis-fire sent a rocket against my all-wood house, so I was a bit miffed at that, but then it sent several right through their midst and against their own house.  I think they also lit grandpa on fire at one point.

I do wish they'd gone across the river to set them all off though.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

I can take a cue from Falconeer and point out that there are fifty states and we all believe different things.  Which is why I went to South Carolina and purchased several mortars as well as some flying ladybugs.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

There were a few better ones on some site, but I can't remember where.

Also liked this one, though I don't know if it's true. Don't care either. Because, Murica!
