Plus - It's not a Kickstarter

Minus - I'd like somebody to do this with a co-op mode, not just mindless PvP.

Even objective-based scenario pvp would be nice. So would private server support because lolpubs.

Not only it has the damned Disney logo, but the button to sign up for beta doesn't work. Are they trolling us?

I'll be surprised if this offers better gameplay than Galactic Starfighter.

The signup stuff had a bunch of issues when they launched it earlier. I couldn't sign up for something like an hour after I posted it.

I'd wager it's getting a little overwhelmed at the moment.

It's a trap!

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something.  We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

Dude, how did I miss this until just now?  It looks very shiny.  This could be awesome, but I think it is likely to be dumbed down for the masses, which means mouse control only.  People will obviously ask them if they will support joysticks, and then will respond with the usual "hey, now that's an idea we somehow never thought about before!  Maybe sometime in the future, you never know!".

Or am I wrong?  Somebody please tell me I am wrong.

I'm expecting War Thunder with an XvT skin. Anything else wouldn't make a lot of sense.

I got a beta invite and it came with a few codes to share.  Drop me a pm if interested.  There's an NDA, but I'm fairly certain that saying I'm in it and I suck just as badly at space fighters as I do at regular fighters is safe.

Apparently Quebec is geo-blocked from this, first time I have seen that. I don't have a VPN or UnoDNS temporarily because Im switching and there's no NHL on right now anyway, plus travel.

Let's blow this thing so we can all go home:

We want to thank all of the fans who participated in the closed beta of Star Wars: Attack Squadrons.

After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences.

We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta.

Not surprising.  I played one day for an hour and forgot about it after that and I'm a huge Star Wars nerd.  It was mildly entertaining but not enough to draw you in and keep you coming back.

So just so I am straight on this...the last good SW space pew pew game, excluding the JTL expansion, is so far back in time that I've probably changed my video card 10 times since then.  That is an utter fucking disgrace.  This is low hanging fruit.

And while we are at it, the last truly fun game that involved jedi running around swishing their lightsabers, pushing motherfuckers off of ledges and basically choking a bitch...that game does not support widescreen, it is so fucking old.  Changed my monitor possibly four or five times since then.

Come the fuck on.

Yeah, it's money laying on the sidewalk.  Anyone who does a successful remake of X vs Tie or Jedi Knight is going to be able to build a money house.  The fans will have their wallets out so fast that the windows will rattle from the sonic boom.

I played the beta a bit early on and it was bad enough that I never went back. I have to agree with you guys - it's such a sure fire hit if the game is just done with even a modicum of competence. And yet... no one with the license has come close to a decent game in a decade.

I think the fact that The Force Unleashed was their attempt at re-doing Jedi Knight shows just how embarrassing this all is.

This was the last Hurrah of LucasArts, though was it not?  I seem to remember that Disney was shuttering them.

I think they're staying open as a face for the license... like, they're not developing anything, but the games will still all be "in association with LucasArts" or whatever.  This one was developed by Area 52, which I've never heard of before and can't find any info on.  EA only has an exclusive license on Star Wars games for the "Core Market", and I guess a free-to-play browser game doesn't fall under that umbrella.
