I'm holding out hope for a flash sale, but it's so new, and is apparently very popular, I don't know if that'll happen.

Yeah but they did put 33% off Civ5:Brave New World and a discount on BL2: Tiny Tina's Assault, both of which are probably more popular and also brand new

Besides Dishonored, Wargame:ALB has been some decent fun, $20 is about right. Beyond that, today's sales are kind of shitty (even the flash sales). Though I have heard good things about Reus.

I'm surprised it was on sale at all during this sale.  It hasn't been from any of the other summer sales, it's what pushed me to just paying full price for it.

Look at all these games!?!  We used to have to go searching for good games to play and now they grow on game bushes or something.  I don't know if I'm happy or alarmed.
If I've learned one thing, it's that you shouldn't go prodding around in gamey bushes.

Pulled the trigger on a few sub $10 games so far but Rogue Legacy is the one I'm actively watching.  If it doesn't drop before the end of the sale I'll probably pay that price.

I actually like steams UI, never had any problems with it really.  What about it do you find horrible?
I'd probably die of old age before I enumerated all the issues so I'll just give a sampling.

* The product lists (New Releases, Top Sellers, etc.) don't fit on a 1080p screen without scrolling. They don't even fit on a 1920 x 1200 screen as the new layout takes up even more vertical space for each item. And "paging" does that fucking annoying slow animation each time you page.

* And to add insult to injury if you go to a different page (e.g. list 11 - 20), click on a game, and then use the back button to go back to the list you are back on the first fucking page (1 - 10).

* Pop quiz (and no cheating) -- from the big called out HTML page menu options (Store, Library, Community, <Your_Name_Here>) which page under those options do you go to to search for people to add as a friend? Bzzzt! Wrong. It's not the Friends screen -- that would be too easy. Activity or Community pages are acceptable answers though the searches differ between the two for some inexplicable reason. Activity is player search only while Community is player or group search.

* Next pop quiz -- which page do you go to to manage your friend invites? Bzzzt. Wrong. It's not the fucking Friends page, again. The only place to manage your invites is the pop up Friends list.

* The UI now thankful shows you if you own a game. However it does not show you if you own a DLC for a game you own when viewing the DLC page, making buying DLC for a game with a lot of DLC, some of which you may have purchased before a fucking painful experience. I end up either adding all the DLC if there's an option for that and then deleting the ones I already own (cause it shows you the ones you own in the cart, fuckers) or bringing up the separate window when you right click on a game in your Library and click on View Downloadable Content and refer back and forth. But just to make things interesting the DLC names in the product window can differ from the names in the View Downloadable Content window.

* Speaking of the cart, only a handful of pages actually show a link to your cart if you have an active one (most but of course not all of the Store pages will show you a cart link). The client can show you a message/notification icon in the top right in the main client UI (outside of all the HTML garbage) but it can't show you a fucking cart icon too?

* Modal and modeless dialog boxes look exactly the same but of course modal dialog boxes block the entire client and plays that fucking sound when you try to use the client when the modal dialog is up.

* When backing up files it fucking always defaults to CD as the split size. Who fucking uses CDs to archive games these days?

Cant remember what the verdict was on Carrier Command, but I see it up on the flash sale for 70% off.  Is it worth it, or should I hold on for a better deal on something else?   Seem to recall someone said it had serious issues with unit pathing or something when you let the AI run things?

It's bohemia interactive so I assumed it would be clunky, buggy and not much fun... certainly the video looked that way

I wouldn't say Carrier Command has serious issues with pathing, but yeah it can be a bit 'oh for fucks sake stop trying to ram the goddamn tree and get back on the road fuck it I'll do it manually' on occasion.

FWIW I was a huge fan of the original and have been wanting an updated version for many years, I was pleased with it overall.

I think this is gonna be the most expensive Steam sale for me ever. Got Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion lastnight and just sprung for Carrier Command too.

Send that to Steam in an email!  99.9% of the feedback we get on our site at work is "yur site sucks", but the one in a thousand that provides quality feedback like yours will go straight to my VP.  From what I understand, Steam is about as large as our company from an employee quantity standpoint.  There's a fair chance you'll be heard at least.

Because... you're right on all counts.

Completely agree.  I'd also like an option to be able to view only playing members of a group.  As of right now, the f13.net group is too many members to view in the Friends list.

Not good enough for that price. It's just too damn short and some powers made the game trivial.

My main gripe is that you can't click on the preview screenshots to move forward and back.  You have to use that small scroll bar to see them or just sit there and let the default scroll timer fire.

I had to pull the triggered on Dishonored and all it's DLC. For $16, why not?

Also, short doesn't really bother me much anymore. Hell, I've put over 40 hours into Skyrim and I'm not close to finishing it but I get fatigue with games that long.

I'm shocked none of these are 75% off.  Kind of weird actually considering we've seen a few for lower.

Edit: refreshed to glorious 75% off.

Yeah, that's fucked up. Shitty day today. Sleeping Dogs has been 50% off the whole sale except for that one Flash sale.

Also, you motherfuckers need to vote for Civ5 on the community vote, in case they drop the price of the new expansion with it.

Given the issues they seem to be having today, those prices might still be updating. 25% off is a pretty low discount, for instance.

Edit: And just like that, the prices are lower.

Not weird at all, it's quite common that people end up reporting on prices too soon. Steam's database seems a bit sluggish when it's getting hammered.

Was hoping that the Skyrim DLC would be a bit cheaper, nothing else today for me to snag.

Awesome.

That said if you don't have Mark of the Ninja yet, you should. It's fantastic.

I really enjoyed Orcs Must Die 2, but I really enjoyed the first one and I'm a big fan of tower defense games.

Sleeping Dogs is still on my list form the Winter Sale where I got it for $17.  I hear good things about it though.

Still considering Dishonoured.  Other than that, I'm good. I got Sleeping Dogs for that price when they mispriced it last sale.  And unlike those Best Buy dickbags, Steam actually honors mispriced items.

$3.99 is the right price to pay for the Alan Wake franchise.

Picked up that Sleeping Dogs Dragon Pack also.

Not only is best buy a bunch of dick bags but in the AM hours after they stopped people from buying, but before they refunded the orders, they went into their TOS to perform a ghost edit that was captured by companies that log and track TOS for online retailers. The ghost edit gives them to the right to never make good on mis-priced items in stores or online. Basically says they have a right to cancel all orders or refund all sales at their discression including instances of mistaken pricing.

Not really because of the penny game screw up, but more because best buy has been horrible for years, I probably wont buy anything from them ever again.

I'd love to pick up the FEAR and Silent Hill games I never played if they go on sale some day.  I'm kind of wary about buying them for the PC, though.  I've only ever played them on a console.  They really scare me half to death, too, which I sort of like.  I wonder how crappy they got since my PS1/PS2 days... I would be disappointed like I was with Resident Evil... umm... raccoons or sommat.

And will vote Civ5... won't play, but will vote.  :)
