I just recently got this game, and had a burning question i need to ask anyone who has finished it.
If you recall, in KotOR 1, you were limited to one starting class, and one jedi class, with a total of 20 levels between them. Since this change in class was forced on you at a scripted event, you were better served to try to stay as low level as possible (usually around level 4) before going through the class switch, so as to maximize your number of jedi levels for improved selection of jedi feats and force powers.
I understand that in KotOR 2, they have switched to using Prestige Classes instead. Should i be trying to use the same tactic in 2 as I did in 1 (is, staying as low level as possible to wait for the prestige class event), or is the prestige class choice only granted upon reaching a specific level, and not a scripted scene?

You are eligible to switch to a prestige class when you (a) reach level 15 (b) reach enough level of Light/Dark side for a plot point to trigger (which normally happens well before lvl 15, but requires you to have left the second planet, as it won't trigger until you reach the "nonlinear" part of the game) So no reason to "save" levels. The prestige classes are basically upgraded versions of the earlier classes anyway (Master instead of Consular, Knight instead of Guardian, etc). There's also no level cap. Since you can trigger unlimited critter spawns on Korriban trivially (probably due to a bug) you could get to level 99 if you felt like it. NPCs will scale to your level so there's no real reason to do so.

I'd like to take a moment to point out that Lum listens to Seal.
That is all. Feel free to ignore this post.

Hey, "Touched by a Rose" was a catchy song in the late 90's.

Also, if you're thinking of going dex instead of str (most people do), consider taking that "lemme use my dex for melee weapons" feat at low levels, instead of trying to wait for the "lemme use my dex for lightsabers" and your lightsaber. Because you'll get your lightsaber late enough in the game that the dex-for-melee feat is made quite useful.

There's naught wrong with Seal, laddie! He does some good tunes.
Also, there isn't any way to import your characters from KOTOR 1 to KOTOR 2 is there?

William Orbit did the best mixes of Seal, and his mix of "Crazy" is particularly good. William Orbit does the best mixes of everybody he works with.

Nope, the game takes place a bit down the line....and your KOTOR 1 character...well...s/he is mentioned a few times, so you'll see why it's not feasible.
