Finally, I think developers and designers making good games deserve better than a mass-marketed metacritic number (even if that number helps sales). Question: How do we not make this site review not just another filler reviews floating around in the webs? I believe some people have blogs, vid-reviews, Angry Joes, Unhappy Video Gamers etc. What sets this site apart actually? I think 'But is it fun?' is already done. Some contributions are made, it's dried up, but maybe it'll pick it up again. |

I'd write more BIIFs if the subforum was more active but most posts only get a handful of replies. On that note, will there be a way for members to post reviews in the new format on the front page and such? I'm not looking to score free games, just wondering if there will be an option for the non-staff members.

I think I prefer to buy my own games and post a review, if it worries schild so much about his dev relations.
Writing impressions has that fun factor to me. Kinda love/hate relations with devs. Maybe it's schadenfreude when you want crap games to be trashed - but surely it's fair when good ones are given fair shot not just because they're AAA?

Your post implies the former while the image, the latter. |

There should be a site easter eggs donation tier. Call it the someone wants to pay homage to cheesy praetorian symbol from horibad movie tier. Personally I want the konami code to re-skin the site as kotaku or something but even if that would flypass the site admins taste test I can see that as being a somewhat time consuming "upgrade" to pull off.
edit - I haven't been to kotaku for several years and it's blocked at work so maybe it has gotten better, feel free to replace kotaku with "seizure inducing overly cluttered asian themed gaming site with a neon color palette".

Most people here didn't know you when they had to take the devs you "chatted" with away to the funny farm wearing straight jackets. It was beautiful. I swear, some of those devs loved you for it, too. You have a knack for saying the most horrible sounding things to someone without making it personally peculiar. And it's fun to watch! |

Did anyone ever go out of their way to write mmo articles since this was waterthread? Most of us stopped when WoW came out and everyone realized that no one wanted GOOD MMOG's that tested the boundaries - mostly because there weren't any MMOG developers who either gave a shit or could hire a team competent enough to do anything innovative without shitting the bed on execution. WAR was the last hurrah for MMOG's around here, honestly and nobody had been writing about the medium for years before that because it is a wasteland of me-too and face-fucking 5-star incompetence. |
